Private, Beautiful, Vineyard Cottage - Perfect Vacation Location!

Although located in a 2 acre vineyard our cottage is very close to many of the attractions of Summerland. You may not even want to drive during your stay here. Our farm is located on 'Bottleneck Drive' Wine Route. It is a 10 minute walk or 5 minute bike to downtown restaurants, shopping, the weekly farmer's market and other amenities of Summerland. The Golf course is just around the corner. Some of the best beaches on Okanagan Lake are 10 minutes away. The Trans-Canada Trail is a short hike up through our neighbor's orchard. The spectacular 1913 steam locomotive of the historic Kettle Valley Steam Railway runs along the rim of our valley twice daily all summer long.
Our cottage is comfortable, private, and peaceful, located below our vineyard of Gewurztraminer wine grapes. It has one bedroom with a luxurious queen bed, a fully furnished basic kitchenette including refrigerator, toaster-oven and microwave, comfortable living area, deck and 2 patio areas and a Weber BBQ Grill. The valley views and sunsets from the cottage are magnificent.
Enjoy locally produced wines (there are 14 wineries including our next-door neighbor Saxon Winery) in the shade of one of our elm trees or in a comfy arm chair in the sun and relax.

Great little holiday home. Clean and tidy. Easy to find. The owner was very helpful. I was looking for directions to the Kettle Valley Trail and he was able to give excellent directions without hesitation. Highly recommended. Definitely pop over to the Kettle Valley Trail. Great place to stay when in the area for the Penticton Triathlon formerly known as IronMan.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

It was so lovely to visit this beautiful working farm nestled beneath the gorgeous vineyard, and surrounding hills. The cottage we stayed in was beautifully appointed with everything one would need for a quiet getaway. I loved my comfortable bed, falling asleep to the gentle croaking of frogs in the nearby pond, and awakening to the crowing of the rooster. Situated in the heart of the Summerland wine district, we spent the day touring and tasting at the local vineyards, visiting the amazing Pentiction open air market, and dining in an amazing Greek restaurant for dinner. Kim and John were great hosts providing excellent service and advice for those new to the area. I would highly recommend Valentine farm as a brilliant get away from city life.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

A friend and I recently found ourselves wallowing in Adirondack chairs sipping wine while we watched the sun slowly sink behind the hills at the impossibly quaint Valentine Farm in Summerland BC. Our accommodation was in a charming self contained guest house with a welcoming farmhouse feel and sweeping views from every window of vineyards and pastures (we were lucky to see a just born calf find its legs at a neighbouring farm). We would make coffee for ourselves in the mornings and then sit outside just soaking up the atmosphere and sighing a lot. A little steam train chugged its way around the hillside twice a day which made the whole thing almost corny in its cuteness quotient. Later we would venture out to the surrounding area as Valentine Farm is on what is known as 'Bottleneck Drive' smack dab in the middle of wine country. We didn't have to go far to sample some vino since there was a winery right next door but there were plenty of others in the area. Kim and John (the owners) were lively and fun to talk to. They were extremely informative about activities and restaurants and places to see and seemed to be in the know about the roads less travelled. They were very discreet about our privacy but were warm and welcoming when we engaged them in conversation. We would go back here in a heartbeat and plan to do so in the fall. One of the most relaxing times we've ever had. G & S, Vancouver BCRecommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Our recent visit was our fourth stay at the Vineyard Cottage. Each stay has been memorable. It's great fun to stay on an active small farm in a quiet valley, but be just minutes from wineries in Summerland and the Naramata Bench. The bed is comfortable and the roomy cottage has eveything you need. Each time we have visited new things had been added -- guidebooks on the area, new photos on the wall, a sparkling new shower. John and Kim really care and seemed like old friends after just one visit. We've been recommending it to our co-workers and friends.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We enjoy hosting Doug & Linda, with their keen interest in the Okanagan and our farming venture, it's always fun!

About the owner: We grow grapes and other fruits and vegetables on our ten acre organic farm. We live in close proximity to things we love to do: X-C skiing, running, cycling and visiting our grandchildren. We are partners with The Land Conservancy and have dedicated two acres of riparian habitat on our property to the enhancement of wildlife habitat and biodiversity.
Why the Owner Chose Summerland:
Summerland is a gem of a small town in the Okanagan. Our farm is in the historic Prairie Valley area of Summerland; a valley of orchards and vineyards located beneath the remnants of volcanic Giant's Head mountain. The Trans Canada Trail passes just above our farm as it weaves its way through Summerland. This walking/cycling corridor provides many recreational opportunities with spectacular scenery and photo opportunities and is 5 minutes from our guest house. Paralleling the Trail, throughout the summer, the Kettle Valley Steam Railway offers visitors a trip through time on the only preserved section of the Kettle Valley Railway which runs through Summerland. The sight and the sounds of the 1912 steam train, together with beautiful valley views transports visitors to a bygone era.
Summerland was incorporated in 1906 and has an interesting history which can be investigated at the Summerland Museum. With the arrival of the Kettle Valley Railway, the tree fruit industry built the foundation for a strong farming community. Over time, the wine industry has grown in importance. In addition, Summerland has developed into a community where the arts thrive. The Summerland Art Gallery features changing exhibitions and local artists.
All of this character, beauty, and history, and the convenience of it all, is what drew us to Summerland, and our farm. You will love it too!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Lie in our vineyard and watch the birds circle in the thermals overhead. Hike up to the Trans Canada Trail only 5 minutes away. Enjoy a 10 minute walk to downtown Summerland - one of the gems of the Okanagan. Bike down to Peach Orchard Beach for a refreshing dip in Okanagan Lake. Walk over to our neighbor Saxon Winery for a chilled bottle to relax with on the cottage patio. Our private vacation guest house is located right in the middle of your Okanagan vacation, close to everything, no stress!
