Sonora bungalow description

This charming bungalow in downtown Sonora will make you feel like you are right at home! This darling two bed, one bath abode is surrounded by a quaint yard with a slate patio in the back yard, perfect for a BBQ or just a quiet place to read. The kitchen has recently been remodeled with all new appliances, fully equipped with everything you need to prepare an enjoyable meal. The living room features comfortable furniture, a flat screen TV with a DVD player and a stereo that will play an Ipod, Iphone or CD's. If you need to stay in touch on a computer or smart phone, wireless internet is available. Built-in bookshelves are filled with an assortment of books. The dining room provides a lovely space featuring built in cabinets and wonderful lighting from the many windows. French doors lead out to the front porch where you can get a bit of a view of downtown. It is very magical to get comfy on the front porch with a morning cup of coffee. One bedroom has a queen bed with matching dressers and the other bedroom has a trundle bed (two twin beds) with an armoire and desk. The laundry room, off of the kitchen, provides a washer and dryer. This home features street parking, with a short set of steps up to the front entrance.

Location, Location, Location. The home is a lovely 5 min. walk to the heart of town where you will have many choices of wonderful restaurants, coffee shops, shopping and specialty boutiques as well as many antique stores. Downtown Sonora also offers the incredible Stage 3 Theater where you can enjoy an outstanding play. You can visit the local Historical Museum to learn about Sonora's colorful gold country history. Every Saturday morning, May thru October, stroll down to the Farmers Market and take home organic produce, baked goods and local crafts. March thru December Central Sierra Arts Council has their '2nd Saturday Arts Night' where downtown art galleries, shops and eateries celebrate the arts.

Another wonderful feature of this home is the convenient location, as a 'hub' to many incredible destinations
*Yosemite National Park...(1hr to the entrance gate)
*In the summer you can ride our Historic 49 Trolley bus between three of our gold rush towns: Jamestown, Sonora and Columbia.
*Sonora with it’s shopping, dining, theater
*Columbia State Park which is a preserved gold rush era town...(12 min. drive)
*Jamestown's Historic Railtown State park is called 'the most photographed railroad in the world.' 'Petticoat Junction,' 'The Wild, Wild West,' 'High Noon,' 'The Virginian,' and 'Unforgiven' were all filmed here. Recently, movie crews produced the railroad sequences in 'Back to the Future Part III'...(10 min. drive)
*Tuolumne’s Black Oak Casino offers the 5 star “Seven Sisters” restaurant for fine dinning and the Willow Lounge for some 'free' live music...(15 min. drive)
*For large lakes we have New Melones, Don Pedro and Tulloch (15-25 min. drive)
*Pinecrest Lake is surrounded by pine trees, granite rocks and rustic cabins is a beautiful lake to hike around, kayak on or enjoy relaxing on the beach with a picnic...(40 min. drive)
*Kennedy Meadows, 20 minutes past Pinecrest, you can horseback ride or hike into the Emigrant Wilderness.
*Day trip to the town of Murphys and stop on the way at Moaning Caverns to enter the caves or take a zip line adventure.
*Once in Murphy's, you'll find many great stores, eateries and amazing wine tasting rooms. In fact Murphy's has become known as “Little Napa” because of their many beautiful wineries.
*While in Murphy's visit Ironstone Winery which offers a great venue for a Summer Concert series and in their museum view the largest Crystalline Gold Leaf specimen in the world. Weighing forty-four pounds...(25 min. drive)
*Calaveras Big Trees State Park “up the hill” from Murphys (10 min) is magnificent! Hike in the famous North Grove of giant sequoias trees.

During the summer, the Sonora 'warm Indian summer nights' can be quite spectacular. You'll find Music in The Parks, free concerts, in numerous parks around the community. In the winter you are above the fog and close enough for an afternoon of skiing at two different resorts, Dodge Ridge or Bear Valley.

With so many fun destinations and adventures close by, I truly believe choosing this comfy home for your vacation stay in Sonora will be Perfect!

              Owner info

              Year Purchased: 1998

About the owner: Hi my name is Christina I have worked independently for 22yrs as a hair stylist in downtown. In my spare time I volunteer with Tuolumne Co. Sheriff's SAR (search and rescue) . I invite you to visit Sonora and see the many reasons why I feel it's a truly lovely community.

              Why the Owner Chose Sonora:
In 1980 I moved to Sonora from San Diego Co. Though I missed the ocean and beaches, I quickly fell in love with the beauty and tranquility that Tuolumne Co. offered. I attended the local community college, set up my business and started putting down roots. The next step was a home. When I found my bungalow I feel instantly in love with it. It is the perfect place to come to at the end of the day, be it work or play!

The Unique Benefits at this Bungalow:
Being downtown is such a treat. Walking to restaurants, wine bars, theater. I am so proud to offer my home as a romantic vacation retreat or family get away. I know you will love to stay here for a long weekend or an extended stay. You'll find plenty to do – or maybe you'd just like breakfast in bed!
