*Columbia State Park which is a preserved gold rush era town...(12 min. drive)
*Jamestown's Historic Railtown State park is called 'the most photographed railroad in the world.' 'Petticoat Junction,' 'The Wild, Wild West,' 'High Noon,' 'The Virginian,' and 'Unforgiven' were all filmed here. Recently, movie crews produced the railroad sequences in 'Back to the Future Part III'...(10 min. drive)
*Tuolumne’s Black Oak Casino offers the 5 star “Seven Sisters” restaurant for fine dinning and the Willow Lounge for some 'free' live music...(15 min. drive)

*Kennedy Meadows, 20 minutes past Pinecrest, you can horseback ride or hike into the Emigrant Wilderness.
*Day trip to the town of Murphys and stop on the way at Moaning Caverns to enter the caves or take a zip line adventure.
*Once in Murphy's, you'll find many great stores, eateries and amazing wine tasting rooms. In fact Murphy's has become known as “Little Napa” because of their many beautiful wineries.
*While in Murphy's visit Ironstone Winery which offers a great venue for a Summer Concert series and in their museum view the largest Crystalline Gold Leaf specimen in the world. Weighing forty-four pounds...(25 min. drive)
*Calaveras Big Trees State Park “up the hill” from Murphys (10 min) is magnificent! Hike in the famous North Grove of giant sequoias trees.
During the summer, the Sonora 'warm Indian summer nights' can be quite spectacular. You'll find Music in The Parks, free concerts, in numerous parks around the community. In the winter you are above the fog and close enough for an afternoon of skiing at two different resorts, Dodge Ridge or Bear Valley.
With so many fun destinations and adventures close by, I truly believe choosing this comfy home for your vacation stay in Sonora will be Perfect!

My husband and three little kids spent four nights at this wonderful house. First, the area is just great for kids -- we went to historic Columbia and rode a buggy, bowled, and enjoyed all sorts of "gold rush" activities. We enjoyed the Jamestown train. Murphys is close, full of nice restaurants and wine tasting rooms. The Calaveras Big Tree Park is as nice as any Sequias grove in Yosemite. Sonora itself has lots of goods and services -- and we got to enjoy the rodeo and the parade! The house itself is terrific. It's fully equipped, even for real cooking-- there are four kinds of vinager, a dozen good towels, nice outdoor furniture, etc. I didn't realize the house is Craftsman, and it is truly attractive, inside and out. It's not large, but the space is well laid out and comfortable. We enjoyed the front deck and the back patio, as well as the new kitchen and good beds. Finally, Christina, the owner is increadibly helpful. She sent me all sorts of information about Sonora, bought tickets to local events, accomodated a last minute change of dates, and was just all-around helpful and friendly. Not the service you would expect from just renting a house! It was a huge bonus to have such information and communication from the owner.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Katie, Thank you so very much for the lovely review...I truly appreciate it!! You and your family were wonderful guests. I heard your children were just darling! I hope you think of my house in the future if you visit this area again...fall is quite beautiful! Warm regards, Christina

After years of staying at mediocre hotels in Sonora, this house became available on VRBO. We jumped on the chance to stay somewhere that looked cute & comfortable. The house exceeded our expectations. It is VERY clean, tastefully decorated, spacious, and had little extras such as fresh flowers. It is walking distance to the downtown area and the neighborhood in which it is located is nice. We will definitely stay here again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My partner and I had the wonderful opportunity to stay in this charming bungalow directly above the main street in Sonora, CA. We were greeted with fresh flowers and freshly baked (and delicious) banana bread by the home's owner. This place does not disappoint and we will definitely be coming back. The kitchen looks ready for a gourmet cook, although we didn't cook. The house is bright and warm and cozy and conveniently located to the charming downtown of Sonora, CA. Our only disappointment was that we didn't get to stay longer. Thank you!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

This bungalow was perfect for our recent visit to Sonora. The kids enjoyed playing in the yard and on the porch while we cooked and chatted in the kitchen. Everyone slept great in comfy beds and the kids loved having their own room. The kitchen and dining room are perfect for cooking and entertaining. Plenty of easy access to nearby stores made it easy for our whole family to get together, share some meals, and visit our Aunt Bettie at her retirement community. Thanks for a great weekend!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We spent the past weekend in this amazing house. We were happy to see fresh flowers on the counter upon our arrival. Spent Friday afternoon on the beautiful patio sipping wine and the next day in Yosemite. We walked to downtown to shop and slept in super comfy beds. The electronics were very easy to use and the house is very well decorated and warm. We will definitely be back. Christina is a super hostess!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This great home was perfect for two couples. We had a great time staying in Sonora and this house was in a perfect location. It was very comfortable and the kitchen was nicely put together with all you need. The back yard was a peaceful place to have breakfast and the front porch an evening glass of wine! We walked to get coffee each morning and also browsed the shops in town. There are so many places to see that are close to this house, too. Yosemite and Big Trees park are both a must when staying here. We will be back and would love to stay in this fantastic home again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Your house was so perfect for our family rendevous. It is adorable and well equipped for cooking and entertaining. The outside yard and patio was fun for all ages, the kids played hide and seek and the adults talked on the back patio. It is incredibly convenient to downtown shopping and day trips to other destinations. We will recommend this "home away from home" over and over. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is an immaculately clean home, very well equipped kitchen, tastefully decorated and very comfortable in a pleasant neighborhood a short walk from downtown Sonora, shops, and restaurants. The pictures and rental description are accurate. Easy access to activities in Jamestown, Columbia, Twain Harte; we even went fishing at Lake Pinecrest. Christina was a wonderful hostess. We can't wait to go back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: Hi my name is Christina I have worked independently for 22yrs as a hair stylist in downtown. In my spare time I volunteer with Tuolumne Co. Sheriff's SAR (search and rescue) . I invite you to visit Sonora and see the many reasons why I feel it's a truly lovely community.
Why the Owner Chose Sonora:
In 1980 I moved to Sonora from San Diego Co. Though I missed the ocean and beaches, I quickly fell in love with the beauty and tranquility that Tuolumne Co. offered. I attended the local community college, set up my business and started putting down roots. The next step was a home. When I found my bungalow I feel instantly in love with it. It is the perfect place to come to at the end of the day, be it work or play!
The Unique Benefits at this Bungalow:
Being downtown is such a treat. Walking to restaurants, wine bars, theater. I am so proud to offer my home as a romantic vacation retreat or family get away. I know you will love to stay here for a long weekend or an extended stay. You'll find plenty to do – or maybe you'd just like breakfast in bed!
