My wife and I celebrated our fifth anniversary here, along with our two-year-old son. Everything was as advertised, and we had a wonderful time. The bed was comfortable, the Jacuzzi secluded and warm and the price reasonable. We will undoubtedly come again, and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends. In fact, next time we may bring a few along.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I wish I could give this a 4.5 Stars because overall this place was great. Marta was wonderful from beginning to end. The place is in a great location with breathtaking views no doubt. The cost is excellent for what you get. Now my reasoning for not making this a perfect 5 stars would be the comfort of the bedrooms. The mattresses were not very comfortable. The one room has an old spring mattress that my sister and her boyfriend slept on and they were not very comfy. In the master the sleep number bed is ok but kind of annoying if you both don't have it turned up to the same level because it makes it uneven. The room was nice and big though. Not having any blinds or drapes on the bedroom windows kind of bothered us too because the sun does shine in there pretty early in the morning. The jacuzzi looked bigger in the picture but it was definitely a nice feature to have one right there on the beautiful deck. The fireplace was just a standard wood burning fireplace and didn't have a gas line to help keep the fire going so that was kind of frustrating. The heater in the home did work well though. The appliances and pots and pans in the kitchen are extremely old and could use some updating. Other homes we've rented they've had condiments and stuff for us to use so I kind of felt this place was lacking that. There wasn't even any black pepper or salt left to use, just empty containers. The sink did back up the first night we were there before we even started doing dishes and the dishwasher was leaking but we called Marta and she was quick to respond and get somebody over there. The location of the property is great, it was easy for us to get over to the mountain for snowboarding. We also went to the zoo and that was fun. All in all it was a great stay. I probably would stay here again but with hopes that maybe some of my suggestions of updating the place were done.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: I'm happy when my guests have a great time and plan to visit again, and I appreciate honest suggestions. However, there are a few statements that I want to correct. There are curtains or attractive blinds on all of the bedroom windows, and most of my guests prefer to open them and let the sun shine in! The appliances are only a few years old and in very good condition. We provide a large quantity of cookware, all of which is in fine condition. We also provide many utensils, along with dinnerware, silverware, mixing bowls, and casserole dishes. I always tell my guests to call me anytime if there is anything they need that I can realistically provide. The fireplace does not need gas, since firewood burns quite well without it!

We had a great stay at the Blue Spruce Chalet! We are 2 adults and 5 kids (ages 8, 10, 13) and we had plenty of room to sprawl out. Blue Spruce also has a great view from the top balcony. The cabin was very clean when we arrived and the hot tub worked great. We also loved that there was a washer and dryer. The only thing I would mention is that the hockey table doesn't really work and there is not alot of places to sled around the house if you have children who like to do that. We would stay at the Blue Spruce again. Thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

There were 8 of us that stayed for a 4 day weekend and as each couple arrived, they were amazed at how big the living and dining area were. We all fit comfortably to eat, play games, BBQ, and enjoy the amazing view of Bear Mtn. from one of our two large balconies. The rooms were cozy and really cute. Not to mention the second balcony where we enjoyed the jacuzzi and beautiful scenery. We had such a good time, especially because it was centrally located near everything i.e. Shops, sledding, snowboarding, we even visited the zoo. Thank you, Marta. We look forward to staying there again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The cabin is huge. It has two balconies and two walk in closets. My house doesn't have two walk in closets. The fireplace works. The kitchen appliances work. The oven works, the grill works. THERE IS WIRELESS INTERNET which I do not believe was mentioned at the time, but was very important to my party. And the fact that everything works cannot be over stated. We have stayed at half a dozen cabins, and they have all had some kind of poorly maintained facility that put a damper on things. Ex, The fireplace couldn't be opened, the hot tub never really got hot, a door couldn't be opened because it hit the ceiling (true story)..etc. That was not the case in this cabin. Everything in this cabin was excellent, and that is not typical. The owner was incredibly responsive. When we thought we had a propane problem (turned out everything was fine) the owner not only returned our message almost immediately, but offered to get a replacement bottle to us the next morning (which was only about 10 hours away from when we called). And if THAT wasn’t fast enough, we could go out and pickup our own, and the owner would pay for it (plus our time), no questions asked. Remarkable service. Furthermore, In the case where I left a jacket behind after checkout. Not only was it not stolen by the cleaning crew (as unfortunately can be the case with some rentals), the owner was kind enough to retrieve it and SHIP IT BACK TO ME. That’s going far above and beyond the call of duty. That's the kind of service you DO NOT get even with expensive corporate run resorts or hotels. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who would like to have a worry free vacation in big bear.Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway.

I couldn't be happier with our experience and highly recommend reserving the Blue Spruce Chalet. The owner is diligent, making sure everything is right. We really enjoyed our trip and the home was just perfect. We used the BBQ and Jacuzzi, both worked great. There was plenty of room for everything and the kids loved the Air Hockey table. The location was perfect - we visited tubing, fishing, the village and both Bear Mountian and Snow Valley. Also, thank you for the recommendation about the Zoo. The Timber Wolves and Bison were coool!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: I discovered this wonderful house when I needed to retreat from life in the fast lane. Walking by the lake, hiking on the trails, and watching the morning come while drinking coffee on the deck filled me with joy and renewed my spirit. When I needed to return to city life, I just couldn't sell my dream home -- one day, I'll move back for good. I always enjoyed sharing my home with friends and neighbors, so making it a vacation cabin has been a pleasure.
Why the Owner Chose Lower Moonridge:
I had no intention of buying a cabin the day I came up to look at a few properties 'just for the heck of it.' This cabin was the first one I saw -- when we arrived at the next property, I told the realtor, 'Stop! I want that one I just looked at!' The amazing views and the inviting rustic interior were exactly what I wanted, even though I didn't know it until I walked through the front door and saw the mountain views through the windows!
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
Luxury and comfort combined with rustic charm make this a wonderful place to enjoy life, but the magnificent views from huge decks are what truly makes this chalet unique!
