Come feel the spirit of Aloha in our Maui paradise!!
Our 1 bedroom 1 bathroom walk-out condo has just undergone a thorough renovation, completed in December 2012!
Building D, or, the 'Haleakala' building, is set back on the far east end of the Kihei Akahi property. This makes it the quietest of the 4 buildings, and the orientation of it allows the fragrant afternoon trade winds to cool the unit without ever having to turn on the air conditioning.
Inside we have a bathroom that has been made slightly larger by unifying the original 2-room design.
It has been completely redone with cherry cabinetry, granite countertops, 16 inch travertine, and accessorized in nickel finishes by Kohler and American Standard.
The kitchen footprint was widened and then visually opened up to the living room, granting us the unique ability to install a Blanco double basin granite sink. We just may be the only unit in the Akahi complex to offer this--a small luxury one realizes only in its absence.
The spacious kitchen offers all the comforts and luxuries of home: high quality cabinetry, under cabinet and pendant lighting, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, garbeurator, coffee maker, grinder, blender, and every necessity one might need to piece together an exotic island meal. We even have brand new ceramic cookware!! Non-stick cooking, without the Teflon.
Other amenities include a brand new washer and dryer, 2 ceiling fans, hair dryer, alarm clock, and a concrete-wall mounted personal safe.
But since no one comes to Maui to be inside, you are one sliding door from the springy grass, palm trees, plumerias, hibiscus and other exotic scents of the property gardens. Our lanai is wide open to all that Maui and the Kihei Akahi has to offer....just one sliding door from a relaxing tropical paradise.
We really fell in love with this unit because of the oversized feel of the lanai. Because you aren't contained by a railing, you enjoy a free, open, and truly one-with-the-island feel--which is what we really believe being on Maui is all about.
So, whether it's heading back and forth to the pool or BBQ, stretching out your legs during an outdoor meal, or, my personal favorite, simply walking barefoot in the lush grass beyond it, this lanai, and all that lies beyond it, is a big reason why we find such inner calm and peace being here. A few strides to Kamaole II and every sunset can be enjoyed with the sounds of the waves lapping on shore, and the soft sand underfoot.
So, beyond the sliding door, and just a brief walk through the lush Akahi garden, lies the soft sand and warm water of Kamaole II beach. For your outdoor use and enjoyment, we have provided colored beach towels, 5 quality snorkel sets, 2 boogie boards, Maui guide books, driving maps, hiking guides, beach chairs, coolers, bags, a backpack, ice packs, and kids beach toys.
Be it hiking, biking, snorkeling, shopping, golfing, playing tennis, swimming, sunbathing, or sightseeing....after a day experiencing what the island has to offer, you can come back to relax under the moonlight on the lanai, swim in the pool under the stars, sit down in front of our 42 inch LCD TV, or simply retire to the queen sized Sealy Posturepedic in the bedroom.
Maui isn't a place people only visit once. Come stay in our Kihei Akahi condo and fall in love with an island and a lifestyle that will have you dreaming of your next trip before you've even left.

We stayed in this unit for the last week of April and would not hesitate to go back. We loved everything about the unit but a couple of things stand out: - The owner is extremely helpful and goes out of his way to make sure your stay is positive. - Great location: across the road from the beach, close driving distance to Mackena, and central location for accessing other parts of the Island. - Modern unit: Although the complex seems a bit older this unit has what seems like a brand new kitchen and washroom. Has everything you need and more. - Lots of Extras: The owner has stocked a ton of extras in the unit which we used including tennis racquets, beach chairs, cooler etc.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Mahalo Chris and Kristin!! Thanks for such a bright, well equipped, cool, and comfortable condo! We all loved being on the ground floor. When the days got hot, the condo stayed cool. The grounds were beautiful, and the pool sheltered from the trade winds if they ever picked up.Its really close to an amazing beach, some great restaurants and only a short drive to the grocery store. One thing to remember though, is that the condo entrance is actually a few steps below the level of the parking lot, and not level with it. We accidentally tried to get in to the condo above instead. I blame the late flight and jet lag. lol Anyways, I wish we could afford to come yearly, but we will definately come back to stay here. The condo was awesome and the owners made the whole process very easy. Thanks again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Enjoyed a ten day vacation at this gem of a property at Kihei Akahi complex. The owners were very easy to contact and to work with from start to finish and showed a genuine interest in making sure we had a memorable vacation. The location is very quiet yet within walking distance of many attractions and a choice of beaches. The property is exactly as described and even better than promised. The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances and every cooking item you could ask for. The thoughtful details include luxury towels, bathroom amenities and lots of snorkel and tennis equipment, to name a few. Guide books in the unit give advice on hiking trails, snorkelling, dining and driving attractions. Both the condo and the complex were very clean and well kept. We will return again soon.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We stayed here for two weeks this February and enjoyed ourselves in this unit which had just been remodelled...granite counter tops, walk in shower and new appliances. Everything was very clean, well stocked with small appliances and beach toys plus tennis gear. The complex is extremely well maintained and clean, although we did feel that it could use additional barbeques as there was quite a lineup some evenings. We were very central to many beaches (Keawakapu, Kamaole I, II, and III, Wailea, Big Beach) as well as McGregor's Point for some fantastic whale watching. Fred's Mexican and Moose McGillycuddy are steps away and the Shops of Wailea are close by too as well as the Kihei Kaffe within walking distance (a healthy morning stroll). Chris was very accessible and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay more enjoyable and we would recommend this as a super place to stay while in Maui. Overall a great holiday! Mahalo!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Although we only stayed a few nights, this just-renovated 1BR condo is a gem! Conveniently located across the street from Kamaole beach and around the corner (a 2 minute walk) from 808Bistro/808Deli and many other restaurants/bars etc. The apartment is lovely with tasteful choices in the remodel and furnishing. The kitchen, fixtures and appliances are higher-end than typical HI condo rentals. All the comforts of home with beach gear, coolers, a thoughtfully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer etc. Comfortable living/dining room with comfy couches and large screen tv and a sunny ground floor lanai (facing the rest of the complex). Everything is new/very clean. The unit is located in the building furthest from the street so no street noise, only very occasional noise from people walking by in the hallway if you have the bedroom windows open. Only drawback was the queen bed which my husband (a large-ish fellow) wished were bigger. Ceiling fans and and opened window louvers were all we needed during our temperate February stay. Chris was extremely helpful and responsive before/during/after the stay with many suggestions on activities, help getting the us on the WIFI connection (my husband had unplugged the router) and a pre-arrival document with all the details on the apartment/directions for the airport etc. info on grocery shopping etc. We didn't use the pools or tennis courts or BBQs but they are available in the condo complex. Wish we had been able to stay longer!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Condo has new bathroom, kitchen counters & cupboards, appliances, bedroom suite & furniture. Suite was very clean. There were no cockroachs, silverfish or bed bugs. It is on ground floor but still a very quiet location as it is furthest from road & near end of building. You do not need to use the A/C if you open window louvers in bedroom & livingroom as tradewinds ventilate nicely. Excellent central location for day trips around island & right across road of Kama'ole' Beach II (nice family beach). Walking distance to restaurants & groceries. Facility has 2 small pools, nice tennis courts & courtesy water hose station to wash the dirt of your car when you arrive back. The grounds are meticulously maintained & you wake up to the birds singing every morning. 6am jogs or walks along Kihei rd are very invigorating. Chris was very professional to deal with & kept us informed of any maintenance issues & was never not available to contact. He even gave us a courtesy meal for not having the use of washer /dryer for first week we were there. Nice clean reasonable place to stay for 2 to 4 people. Highly recommend.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I stayed in Chris and Kristin’s condo over the Christmas break (2012). I embraced the Aloha spirit, rented a bike, joined a yoga studio and indulged in sun and sand. The renovation is excellent. The condo is comfortable in the day, cozy in the evening and quiet during the night. The shower is luxurious and spacious. If you like to cook, the kitchen is fully equipped. The décor is great (Chris took all the pictures hanging in the condo and even sold me a print), the walk-out lanai is easy which makes the building’s amenities very accessible. And the bedroom closet is full of beach gear to enjoy snorkeling, or simply to just sit and enjoy a beautiful sunrise or a gorgeous sunset while sipping a glass of wine. One great benefit is that there is a landline from which you can call Canada and USA for free! Also, considering it was Christmas break, I was amazed at how quiet things were in this building. It was relaxing and fabulous! As for its location, I didn’t bother to rent a car. Everything I needed was a within walking distance or a simple bike ride away - shopping, walking/running (Wailea Beach Walk = Beautiful!), restaurants, coffee / smoothie stand, beach going (Kamaole 1, 2, & 3 all close by), restaurants, and even a natural foods store! With or without a car, this location is perfect. Finally I dealt exclusively with Chris, the owner. He was exceptionally organized, fast to respond to emails, and had a very professional way of dealing with everything from start to finish. He’ll be as involved in advising you on activities as you need him to be. He is a great resource and loves to share his experiences and help you make your stay memorable! While I was there, I was already making an inquiry into December 2013! Mahalo Chris and Kristin for a wonderful experience at a comfortable, quiet, welcoming condo that you can temporarily call home, on one of the prettiest islands in the world!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I have been making frequent trips to Maui since 1993. We have had the good fortune of finding Maui condo owners who do what they do for the love of the island. Once we find someone like that, we stick with them (for years). Our last home-away-from-home ended up becoming the owners new permenant home once they retired, so we had to venture out to find a new condo vacation to. We had some average experiences, and a few good ones. After our 2012 stay, I think we've found the place we want to keep returning to. First impressions don't allow for do-overs, and I was blown away with how Chris handled everything from when I made our inquiry onward. The condo was immaculate. Very clean, very new, well equipped, and completely updated. Maui condos can be such a mixed bag that if you find something that looks this good, you grab it and book way ahead for your next trip. We tried a lot of other condos to find a replacement, and they didn't really measure up. This one certainly did. It's an excellent home, away from home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2012
About the owner: Chris and Kristin were both born and raised in the prairies of Western Canada. We hold professional positions in Calgary and really hope to retire to Maui someday. After 3 consecutive trips to Maui, we got married on Po'olenalena Beach in 2011, and when we returned in 2012, it marked our first stay, not only as a married couple, but also owners of a beautiful condo in paradise.
Why the Owner Chose Kihei Akahi:
Kristin and I have made 3 trips to Maui in the same number of years. Those trips always had us anchored in South Kihei, and we always felt at home there. South Kihei has always been consistent...lots of sun and almost no rain.
The Kihei Akahi property has everything we could ever want--pools, tennis, gas BBQ's, hospitable front desk service, grassy garden area, exotic scents in the air--all a stone's throw from the soft sand and blue-green Pacific Ocean.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
We have learned that the true Maui experience comes from being within in it, not sitting above it. That's why we love the walk-out so much. The floral scents are richer, the wildlife more abundant, and the unfenced lanai gives you a sense of openness and freedom.
We love this south-west facing walk-out unit because there are palm trees to gaze up at, springy green grass to walk in, and you can use all the Akahi amenities without having to use the stairs or the elevator.
We are still shocked that we've never had to turn on the air conditioner. Please take advantage of the security screen door at the entrance and screen at the lanai to generate an environmentally friendly cooling system. The a/c is always there, but we have been pleasantly surprised with how effective the natural breeze can be.
