About this property

ASSISI FAMILY HOME, the old town center with or without car

In a strategic position, reachable with the urban bus, between the church of Saint Claire and the monastery of Saint Damian. We have all the advantages of living in the center, but no problems: no difficulty of access or parking! 2000 square meters of private olive grove touching the historic city walls (we will taste our organic olive oil). This was not a vacation home: the two apartments on the lower level are very equipped, furnished with family furniture. We live on the top floor.

Easy access apartment.
The apartment is so easy to get to and just at the town wall so that you can walk to all the sites. Angela and her family were welcoming and helpful. We ate out so cannot comment on the kitchen, and the weather was cold and damp so we didn’t get to enjoy the property.

Minutes from center of Assisi
Great location just outside the walls of Assisi with easy walking access to town, historic sites, restaurants and shops. Well equipped kitchen, bath and bedroom, small terrace but large garden in the olive grove. Convenient gated parking was appreciated. Hosts were cordial and helpful. Convenient base to explore the region of Umbria.

Wonderful hospitality and location
Exceptional hospitality in the family home. The owner's grandfather built the house and it is very close to San Damiano and Santa Chiara Basilica and walking distance for entire town. Assisi is very, very special!

Great accommodations in a great location.
Angela, Francesco and their son Flavio welcomed us and gave us a tour of the property. They were very welcoming and wanted to ensure that we were comfortable. Since they lived on the top floor of the house someone was always available to answer any questions that we may have either about the property or places to see and visit, and possible tours that we might be interested in. The suite was as described, and easy to get to. Everything was within walking distance, a small grocery store is a five minute walk away with good prices. All the sites are within walking distance, especially if you are in good physical condition. There is a lot more to see and experience in Assisi, than I imagined. I/we would recommend their property to all friends and relatives who may be visiting Assisi. If we were to visit Assisi again we definitely would stay here again. A couple of places that we visited apart from Basilica di San Francesco d'Assisi and Basilica di Santa Chiara included the Church of San Damiano and the walk of Bosco di San Francesco. Both were wonderful, beautiful, thought provoking and inspirational. We were also fortunate to experience a beautiful sunset at the top of Assisi at Rocca Maggiore.

About the host

Here lived the great-grandparents and grandparents and now we are a four-people family, we love travelling and meeting other cultures. The children are often traveling, doing experiences in other cities and countries. We think that living in Assisi was a privilege and now we want to partage it with some guests! We love Umbrian art, traditions and nature. We love gardening, and enriched our garden with many flowers and aromatic plants.

Why they chose this property

Assisi is worth the trip: a town of history, faith, art, a symbol of peace for the still living presence of St. Francis, it's in the very center of Umbria, the green heart of Italy. From here you can reach other jewels of the region such as Spoleto, Spello, Perugia, Todi, Gubbio, Bevagna, Orvieto, Montefalco, Norcia, the Trasimeno lake and many more, as well as Firenze, Roma, Arezzo, Urbino, the Frasassi caves and many more.
Ancestors built our home on an olive grove in 1925. They designed a villa in brick and stone having loggias, terraces and arch windows looking at the town and at the surrounding garden. From 2004 we inherited the property and have moved here.

What makes this property unique

After various events, we have made a careful restoration, respecting the charm of the old house. The location allows you to appreciate both the beauty of the monuments both the landscape, between city and countryside. In our olive grove, sunny and sheltered, you can hear the tolling of the bells of the monastery of Santa Chiara but also maybe find pheasants, squirrels, hedgehogs or fireflies!
