This newly renovated apartment has a unique architecture characterized by 19 feet high ceilings, that cool off the property during the humid summer months of the caribbean. The property is completely build of brick and plastered with a thin layer of marmoline. The ceilings are made of a combination of stacked bricks and wooden beams.

  • Hostal del Sol was a very very nice, clean, and comfortable place we had the pleasure to stay at in Old San Juan. Felipe was extremely helpful and made our stay memorable! We were a party of 5 adults, and found the accommodations and facilities very charming and yet very modern and self contained. We would definitely like to come back again and when we do, we know where to stay! Just one note to Felipe would be to add a light/lamp fixture in the kitchen sink (under the cabinet above) and the cooking area...that was very minor.   • Hostal del Sol far exceeded our expectations! My husband and I had a WONDERFUL stay there for our honeymoon. The apartment is in a wonderful location in Old San Juan; walking distance from so many great restaurants and shopping. The apartment is comfortably furnished with everything we could have needed. It is also very beautifully and tastefully decorated. I can't say enough nice things about this place. We loved it!

  • The apartment is awesome! A great location, amentities and safety. Two days was not enough there. The layout and furnishings are top notch and the place itself is large. This was a great start to our honeymoon and we couldn't have asked for more. In addition, Felipe is a terrific host and answered all of our questions and more. Why pay the same or more for a hotel when you can have your own place on vacation?

  • A great place, on a quiet street right in the middle of Old San Juan. You really feel like part of the neighborhood, instead of the insulated feeling you get in a hotel. Just a block from 3 restaurants (El Jibarito has great local food at reasonable prices) and everything in town is in walking distance. The apartment was completely furnished,and equipped with every ammenity. Having the Spanish doors open out onto the street level balconies was wonderful...we stood at the railing watching the world go by in the evenings. Our only caveat is that the stairs to the sleeping loft are quite steep, took a little getting used to! Our stay was enchanting, thank you Felipe!

  • During our stay in Puerto Rico on April 2009 we manage to rent apartment in Old San Juan called hostel del Sol. The apartment has everything what you need to have nice vacation. Grate place to spend the vacation with family or friends. I will definitely stay there next time too..:=)

  • When us 3 girls arrived at Felipe's apartment, we instantly fell in love. Months before arriving, we kept in touch by e-mail with Felipe and he was more than willing to answer any of our questions about the apartment. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome and throughout our trip (April 13-19, 2009) he gave us his contact number in case we needed anything. This was exceptional service and beyond what we expected. You will fall in love with the apartment when you see it. It's within walking distance to everything you need; shops, coin laundry, great restaurants. St. Germain Café & Bistro is just a 2 minute walk down the street, and we recommend this place for breakfast. If you plan to visit Puerto Rico, please don't stay at a hotel; you would be taking away from the REAL experience of being in Puerto Rico by staying at a resort. Live right in the heart of Old San Juan, and if you stay at Felipe's beautiful apartment, you will be experiencing it all! Thank you for everything! -Alena Victoria, B.C. Canada

  • We couldn't have asked for a better stay in Old San Juan! We had an incredible first trip to Puerto Rico and I can't imagine ever staying in a hotel on a return. The apt has every amenity we could have asked for and many we didn't even imagine would be available (free Wi-Fi and a Brookstone wine chiller? Really?!?). Thanks to our gracious and welcoming hosts!

  • “I absolutely loved this place. It was clean, charming and beautiful. As a woman traveling to Puerto Rico by herself, I felt safe in the apartment as well as in the neighborhood. The street was very quiet, but it was just a few blocks from all of the action. I cannot say enough positive things about Felipe & Damaris. They were there to greet me, they are very hospitable and just genuinely nice people. They are also very trusting and that is nice to have someone who trusts you to stay in their apartment. Everything in the apartment is impeccable. I could not have been more pleased and so look forward to visiting Puerto Rico again and staying in the same place on Calle de Sol.   • My wife and I stayed here for three nights and four days and really enjoyed the Apartment and Felipe who was very helpful. I would highly recommend that people stay here when you want to stay in Old San Juan but dont want to pay high hotel prices. I will remember this place and will come back to stay here in the future.
