"Casa del'Artiste" is a 13th century town house with TERRACE overlooking Lake Trasimeno and rolling countryside. Ideally located in the heart of Tuscany, in the historic center of Cortona, Italy. Featured in the October, 2004 Issue of "Ville and Casali" magazine, it is a jewel-like house with outstanding character, elegance, and style.

Using local artisans, iron-smiths, and stonemasons, it has been lovingly restored with great attention to preserving its authenticity and charm, while it also offers all the modern conveniences. A unique feature of the house is the terrace with a wisteria covered pergola, where you can dine "al fresco" and enjoy the spectacular views of the Val di Chiana, Lake Trasimeno, and the Mountain Range.

Accommodating up to four people, and nestled against the Etruscan walls surrounding the town (dating from the second century BC), it is moments away from the central piazza. All amenities, including grocery stores, gift and clothing stores, the park, movie theater, cafes, churches and museums are within a two to three block radius.

PARKING SPACE: 5 minutes walking distance from the house.

For more then two people (up to 4):
21 euro supplement per night, per extra person in high season
and 18,00 euro in low season.

NOTE: from the 9th of March till the 15th of May 2011 there will be some repairing work done on the roof in the house in front of Casa dell'Artiste. This means there will be some scaffolding
in front of the back entrance., on the other side of the street

Why the Owner Chose Cortona

The owners decided to buy the house in 2005 because they fell in love with Cortona and Tuscany. They love to walk to the shops, bars, and restaurants, and enjoy the town with its cultural events. You can enjoy talking with the local friendly people , eat the excellent food in the outstanding restaurants in the town, drink the spectacular wines or just relax on the terrace at the house.
All shops at only one minute from the house, so you don't need a car if you don't like to drive! And what to say about the house? The terrace is fantastic! The house has kept the original features: terracotta floors, beamed ceilings, open fireplace. All are original and very well restored. Guests just say "Wow!" when they see it for the first time.

The Unique Benefits at this House

The benefits of this fantastic house is that you can enjoy the terrace equipped with table and chairs during the summer but also in autumn and spring. You can easily walk to bars, restaurants, shops, galleries and museums, or to the theatre. All amenities are within easy reach. There is even a Park with a swimming pool!
You may easily enjoy the town and its life.

Owner's Map of Cortona

I'm Katia of Tuscanmagic Travel Agency-Incoming Services in Cortona and I manage this lovely property located in the historic centre of the old town of Cortona. It was in 2005 that the owners, Ann and Brian O'Kane from California, USA, (Ann is English and Brian is Irish), bought this property and decided to let it. They fell in love with Cortona, the people and the surroundings. They celebrated here the wedding of their daughter and come every time they can, to relax and enjoy the town and the house.
For me it is always a pleasure to welcome guests here at Casa dell'Artiste. All guests appreciate the restoration done to high standard and the terrace overlooking the Valdichiana Valley and S. Maria del Calcinaio Church.
Perfect house to sit outside or invite friends to dinner in the big kitchen, near the fireplace drinking a glass of good local wine .
It is always a big satisfaction to see people enjoying their holiday!

This place is a gem! Just steps away from all the action yet very peaceful and charming! Built on 4 levels the home is furnished with very good taste. There is a well equipped kitchen and a great view terrace. Cortona is a wonderful base from which to explore Tuscany and Umbria. We loved it and would stay again.

Charming Home Away from Home

Date of Stay: 06/07/11 Review Submitted: 07/19/11

We had a great visit at Casa Del' Artiste. The home is clean, charming and convenient to the Via National and the main Piazzas. We loved having our light breakfasts in the charming kitchen and drinks later on the terrace. The view is fabulous! Each room is on a separate level with the living room on the top floor with high ceilings and the mezzanine with twin beds over head. If you want to cook, the kitchen is a dream. Laundry is conveniently on the same level as the kitchen. There is no WiFi in the house, but a 2 minute walk up to Via National takes you to a great family-run Enoteca to have coffee or a drink and enjoy free WiFi. There is construction across the street, but they don't start early or work late, so it didn't cause us any problem. We would stay here again.
