  • Cozy and comfy

"Despite the fact that we had a rainy and stormy weekend, we had a wonderful stay in this cozy and comfy house overlooking the water. It's the perfect house for 3 couples (we even managed to include a 3 1/2 year old too. I'm not sure anyone would have been comfortable in the beds in the garage. The house had everything we could want and the beds were very comfortable. We spent a lot of time just sitting in front of the fireplace and enjoying the view."

  • The Perfect Holiday Home

"We loved our stay here. The only negative comment was that we didn't plan to stay longer! The decor and facilities suited our needs perfectly. Having the bikes was also a big plus. Santa Cruz is great for cycling around and easier than the car. I'll definitely stay again and next time for longer."

  • Spacious and close to the beach

"Stayed at 224 Woodrow over Christmas, 2016, December 22-26, with younger son and daughter, 6-year-old granddaughter, and my former wife and her partner. Found the place to be just right for a group this size. Best things about it: BIG kitchen with plenty of room for the 6 of us, plus my older son, daughter-in-law, and 6-year-old grandson, who live in Bonny Doon, to gather and eat together; the separate studio cottage where my daughter and granddaughter stayed; the two-minute walk to the beach for walks at sunset; the bikes for my daughter and granddaughter to ride. Very clean and well-furnished, especially the kitchen. Not cheap, but worth the cost for a larger family group. Close to Natural Bridges state park and other good outdoor places. Would definitely recommend the place to a group of 6"

  • Quaint with an awesome location

"The La Sirena House is a perfect Antique. It has the lure and myth of the Mermaid, and this is found all around the theme of the house. The entrance and front of the house are the stuff that fairy tales are made of. The real find is at the top of the house and masked well from the street. This is the huge open deck that looks over the gorgeous beach below. As with all antiques, handle with care. So this home is a bit fragile in that the majority of windows are obviously historical of nature, and cannot be opened. If this doesn't bother you or make you claustrophobic, then it won't be an issue. It is impossible to get a breeze going at all. The amenities for the home are lovely, very nice sets of dishes, cups and glassware etc. The cooking ware could use a spiff up, but it was ample. The furniture is comfy and appropriate for the beach. I particularly liked the master bed, although it is just a double, or small queen, it is dressed in a fancy romantic style and was cozy. The main bathroom was great and the shower worked well, with ample hot water. Be sure to realize the lack of water pressure in the master bath, and opt for the main tub/shower if you want to feel clean. If you like a nice old home with quaint touches and want to be right at the beach, this place is for you. I can't see it being great for little kids, with the rather precarious spiral staircase, etc. But perhaps for two couples this would work well and the location to town is great as well. Santa Cruz is simply amazing so if you stay at La Sirena, I am sure the little things will go by unnoticed. Enjoy!"
