  • We'd definitely go back!

"We really enjoyed our stay in Santa Cruz. The Aloha cottage was a bit cozy but just fine for our short stay. It was well equipped and clean, but could use more lighting overall. The area was great and our whole trip was wonderful! Larry & Lyn"

  • Beautiful, Well-Appointed, Peaceful Retreat

"I would definitely recommend this rental. The home was clean and well maintained, and the description of the property is accurate. The house is not very large, about 1100 square feet, but it was more than adequate for our family of 4. The kitchen was my favorite part of the house, as it has everything you might need for cooking meals. The only thing I might recommend in the house is larger fitted sheets for the beds, since they did not fit the mattresses and came off every night. There are plenty of towels, cleaning supplies, and household items. Our 2 young children loved the hot tub and the swing under the gorgeous oak tree outside. We brought our two dogs, so the front fenced area was nice to have. The surrounding nature is peaceful and calming. We saw deer everyday, as well as wild turkeys that came to the yard. The location was ideal for us, since we wanted to feel somewhat secluded but wanted easy access to Santa Cruz. We visited Roaring Camp Railroads, Henry Cowell State Park, and Highlands Park as well as the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Natural Bridges State Park and Ano Nuevo. Keep in mind that the Trout Valley Inn burned down in June of 2016. My major complaint about this rental was that there was no written or printed guide at the house. The information about the rental is sent in the Home Away app, which was not accessible with my phone. That meant I had to plug in my computer to view the house rules, etc. If I did not have my computer with me, I wouldn't have been able to access the information once I got to the rental. Also, I really wanted to "unplug" so having to access information via technology was sort of a bummer. There is a binder at the house with manufacturer's manuals for the appliances, but I did not want to read manuals I wanted a concise summary of how to use the TV, air conditioner, hot tub, etc. which I did not have. I definitely recommend to the owners that they put together a written summary of how to use the appliances in the house, as well as the rules for checking out, etc. Being able to flip though a well written guide is much more relaxing than staring at a computer. That said, Lolly was extremely responsive and supportive when I had questions. Overall, a great rental in a beautiful area and ideal location."

  • Exceeded every expectation!

"Choosing a property based on photos, owner description, and reviews is always a risk...and we couldn't have been happier with the payoff with the bungalow on Lighthouse. From the initial contact with Alan and Brit, to very fair pricing, to the home being ready for our arrival after an 11 hour drive with two teens, our family's experience was perfect. The house is beautiful and retro-funky, comfortable, exceedingly well-appointed, and the location was absolutely perfect (minutes to grocery, restaurants, kayaking, the university, and Mission...and an easy walk to the Boardwalk, beach, and amazing cliff walk trail). Every detail made our stay 5-star: the kitchen has everything you need, the beds are comfy, the linens are quality, the washer and dryer are virtually new, you get off-street parking (which is huge), and the landscaping shows how much the owners care about the property...you feel at home, not like a "rental." Our kids rode the bikes provided, we grilled, there's DirectTV, a Mac computer in the master bedroom to help plan activities and get info about the house... I could go on. Cons? Honestly, none...maybe having one bathroom if you don't want to share. The bottom line is we weren't 5 minutes out of Santa Cruz before we started discussing retuning and staying at the bungalow."

  • Prime Location, Huge House

"I rented the house for a group of 20+ that were participating in the IM Santa Cruz 70.3. The house is located right next to the pier and walking distance or a short drive to everything. The house itself has plenty of beds and ample space. I highly recommend it for any large groups. Debbi and her family were also extremely accommodating and responsive."
