Located at the top of Elk Ridge Mountain we're only 3 miles from historic Valle Crucis and 3.5 miles from 105 South in Banner Elk. This cabin has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathroom. (5 queen beds in the cabin); Great room with stone fireplace (wood burning), fully equipped kitchen, gas grill, satellite TV, CD, DVD; washer/dryer, private hot tub, covered decks front, back and with incredible views from all! Camp Skybunk i.e the bunkhouse is a seperate structure, (5th BR)that sleeps 6 with private bath. Just a few steps out the backdoor of the cabin Camp Skybunk is a great place for kids!
Enjoy the views from the hot tub, hammock, picnic areas, front or back deck. Watch spectacular sunrises and sunsets, roast marshmallows in our campfire area or take in star gazing at its best (especially from the hot tub!). Truly an amazing mountain getaway! "We had a wonderful extended family get-together at the Hilltop Hideaway. There were beautiful panoramic views from every side of this comfortable cabin. It felt like home, but better. Watching the sunrise over the mountains from the hot tub was breath taking. Everyone pitching in to cook the meals in the spacious kitchen was fun. Relaxing, going for afternoon walks,napping in the hammock, and rocking on the front porch were just what we all needed. It was nice to laugh, "catch up" and reminisce in such a beautiful setting. The kids loved "Camp Skybunk". It was almost like their own personal apartment. They made memories picking blackberries,roasting marshmallows by the campfire pit,wading in the Watauga River, and trying to choose their favorites at the Mast General Store's Candy Barrel. We had a great vacation that we all will cherish for a lifetime. This is a private cabin, with a peaceful atmosphere, in the most beautiful area of the NC mountains. We Highly recommend the Hilltop Hideaway."

It was a perfect gathering spot for everyone to enjoy whatever mountain ‘activity’ that they chose each day. Tommy and I hiked down (and back, whew!) the mountain, sat by several of the beautiful waterfalls, enjoyed watching your neighbor’s llamas and goats, geese, ducks and pot belly pigs at the farm. We hiked to the waterfall behind the church of the Holy Cross – What a reward! The waterfall is spectacular and has a small pond area that we waded in barefoot! The Valle Crucis Community Park is an absolute gem! We walked along the river and watched several fly fishermen that were fishing in the river. Very fascinating and calming to see them patiently working to catch a fish. A great place to take children that need to burn some energy – the playground is excellent and paved trails around the park are perfect for running, bike riding, roller blading and just strolling. We all enjoyed the Mast General Store and the Annex together as well as a day at Grandfather Mountain. Thank you for sharing your special spot with us. We hope to return next year to celebrate our son’s safe return from Iraq!
