  • Great Place - Great Stay!

"We loved the Barrulaires Gite! It’s a meticulously restored stone farmhouse cottage atop a small mountain in the Luberon a few miles from Apt. The property features a lovely view, and the cottage itself has wonderful décor coupled with all the up-to-date conveniences one would hope for. The owner – the irrepressible Betty – greeted us in the driveway with a flashlight at 10:30 pm when we arrived very owing to an Air France strike. She provided sage advice throughout our stay as to local attractions, stores and farmers’ markets, restaurants, etc. Some might find the location a bit remote, but we enjoyed the solitude and privacy and did not mind the short drive into town for provisions or restaurants. Many of the major sites of the region are less than an hour’s drive. Apt itself is filled good restaurants, bakeries, grocery stores, wine shops etc. It’s a lovely jog or walk from the gite down the mountain into the picturesque village of Buoux. Nearby Fort Buoux is definitely worth a half-day visit and the climb to the top is exhilarating. Our only problem was a bit of difficulty with intermittent internet service during our week in September, but we understand Betty has since fixed the problem. [She is a U.S. expatriate married to a Frenchman, and she used her bilingual abilities to help us with dinner reservations]. Too many great restaurants in the area to mention, but it’s hard to go wrong."

  • Have your own place with a touch of B&B

"We have just returned from 16 nights in France. 7 nights at La Madone in Apt. The apartment was roomy and comfortable. Warm bread and pain au chocolat arrive at your door each morning. We especially enjoyed apertifs in the garden with the other residents and our host and hostess. A bit of converstion with Nathalie and Jean-Bernard was a delight. We may never get the opportunity to return, but would love to if it were possible. The location in Apt makes touring the mountain top towns (we had a car/no gps) and the lavender fields easy navigating Necessities like groceries were easily available. A good choice all around."

  • Perfect house in the perfect town

"I miss this place and I want to go back. We stayed for two weeks (me, my wife, my parents, and our 1 year old son) and had an incredible, perfect, enjoyable, and memorable stay. The stay started with the nicest greeting and tour from the property manager, Yvette. She showed us all of the the ins and outs of the house and then even took us on a driving tour of Pelissanne, including the grocery store. For the next two weeks, we enjoyed this beautifully restored old stone home. The house is very, very spacious and every corner is unique and well-designed. Despite the lack of climate control, we were always comfortable. On a couple of nights, the fans we brought helped us sleep, but it was always nice. We had dinner every night on the rooftop terrace, a stunning view of the town. The kitchen was well-equipped for lots of cooking. And the town is perfect. Rick Steves has never been there and it is probably not on any tourist map anywhere. So, you get to just enjoy walking to the butcher, the bread maker, and the little grocery stores. There is a cute little park and a couple of friendly cafes. Long-term parking is about a 2-minute walk away, but you can always pull your car up to the front door for loading and unloading. Pelissanne is ideally located for visits to the rest of Provence. You're a 5-minute drive from the A7, which gets you quick access to Marsaille, Avignon, Aix, Chateauneuf de Pape, etc. I can't think of anything negative. Tip: you might have to manually turn the power on for the water-heater if you want hot water all day."

  • A most enjoyable stay in a luxurious villa in the Provence

"We spent an excellent week at Eygalières. We easily found the place thanks to the exhaustive directions provided soon after our booking. We were met by a very warm and efficient person who showed us around, gave us (in addition to the keys) a number of good tips about restaurants etc. The house was very much in line with what had been advertized, in fact it looked even better! Excellent facilities, very nice decoration, comfortable furniture, everything contributed to a relaxing stay. We enjoyed very much the surroundings, the village of Eygalières itself (very typical yet quite dynamic, we recommend visiting the weekly market on Fridays), the Alpilles mountains (good hikes directly from the house's gate) and a few other remarkable spots (e.g. the medieval abbaye in Sénanque, the old village of Gordes, the Van Gogh tour of St Rémy de Provence). Again, a most enjoyable stay and a place we would recommend warmly!"
