  • Best Place We Have Stayed in The Area!

""The Nest" was absolutely perfect for our family and 2 little dogs. Everything was beautifully decorated inside and the beds and sofas were so comfortable. That was important for me because I had recently had cancer surgery. I spent much of the time curled up inside reading books. My 16 year old and her dad could walk to the beach, but chose to drive with chairs, tent, umbrellas, dogs, and such in the back of our truck. We come to the Mexico Beach area every year and we all agreed that this was the favorite place we have ever stayed yet. We felt like we were right at home. As a matter of fact, we left our phone number should you ever decide to sell the place. :) Thanks for sharing your wonderful place!! Lydia (mom)"

  • Nice and Relaxing

"We had just experienced a great loss just a few days before we were scheduled to stay at the beach cottage. At 12 weeks pregnant I had a miscarriage. We used our time at the cottage as a healing time. It was very nice and relaxing. The owners were very easy to get in touch with and wanted to make sure that everything was perfect (they didn't know our situation). The cottage was clean, well taken care of, and close to the beach."

  • Totally Stress Free Vacation Ever!!!

"The townhome was amazing and much, much more than what we expected! The decor was exceptionally tasteful with very comfortable furnishings. Kitchen was abundantly stocked, as well as laundry supplies and bath towels. We really liked the privacy that it afforded with its three level floor plan. All three bedrooms were equally nice and I enjoyed spending time each morning soaking up the sun on the patio outside of our bedroom. Located in a quiet neighborhood with a nice, easy walk to the beach. The neighbors beside us were very friendly, helpful and outgoing. I took my bicycle and had many trails to ride. The guys had a great time playing golf in St. Joe. The owners are truly wonderful and communicated with us prior and during our stay...we never wanted for anything! Check out procedure was a breeze and not overwhelming as some can be. I would highly recommend this townhome for a short or long stay! We are planning to stay again next year!! Thank you Ann!!"

Mexico Beach Travel Tips

Mexico Beach is a small coastal community located 20 miles east of Panama City Beach along the Florida Panhandle on the "Forgotten Coast." It's a serene destination on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico and offers the small-town atmosphere you're looking for in a relaxing tropical getaway. Mexico Beach is considered a "secret" vacation spot among families and some have been coming here for generations.

Nature's beauty is preserved and the beaches are full of life in Mexico Beach. Visitors can head out for some shopping or dining and hike through parks and conservancies during their stay. If you want to see the dolphins play at sunset, Mexico Beach is the place to do it. The most favorite pasttime among visitors and locals is swimming in the clear waters.

Mexico Beach Attractions

Beaches: Some of the best beaches in the country are found in Mexico Beach. The sand is made up of nearly 12 different materials and contains quartz crystals. There are no rivers that flow through Mexico Beach so the sand is pure and white, and since it's reflective it doesn't get hot during the summer. Visitors to Mexico Beach get to enjoy 5 miles of the coastline with plenty of public beach access. If you're lucky, you may even get to see a sea turtle. Five endangered species venture onto the shore in Mexico Beach to create nests for their eggs.

Diving: There's easy access to several dive sites off of the coast of Mexico Beach that are perfect for scuba diving, snorkeling and spearfishing. Visitors will enjoy the beauty of the natural and artificial reefs as well as the shipwreck sites. The Empire Mica is a wreck site that will give divers a world-class experience in 105 feet of water. There's also the lumber ship Vamar, which lies 27 feet below the surface near the Bell Shoal area. It's accessible by scuba divers and snorkelers, and is even visible from the surface.

Things to Do in Mexico Beach

Dining: You'll find everything you could want to eat in Mexico Beach. From mom-and-pop eateries to restaurants featuring live entertainment, everyone in the family will find a new favorite food. You can grab fresh seafood from the Fish House Restaurant, Gourmet by the Bay, Killer Seafood or Regan's Pub and Oyster Bar. Or you can choose to relax at Caribbean Coffee, Graba Java Internet Cafe or Sharon's Cafe.

Shopping: If you're looking for a place to shop 'til you drop, head to stores along Highway 98. There's a wide variety of offerings such as gifts and souvenirs as well as other little stores tucked away in motels and restaurants. You can find gifts at Beachwalk Beachwear and Giftware, Frost Pottery Garden and Gift and The Grove.

Fishing: There are more than 125 artificial reefs in the Gulf of Mexico, which make for one amazing fishing trip. Whether you want to hit the water along the coast or head out for some deep sea fishing, you're guaranteed to have a good time in Mexico Beach. There are three bays for launching and many of the charter boats in this coastal town offer inshore or offshore trips that include your gear and license. Some of the species found at Mexico Beach include king and Spanish mackerel, grouper, red and black snapper, mahi mahi, pompani, speckled trout and redfish.
