  • Loved The Owner's And Loved Their Home!

"Plans changed last minute on Saturday, and I decided I wanted to book a condo on the Beach, 1-night stay and very last minute. I'd never tried booking a condo last minute, and started to realize it was about impossible. As I was giving up hope and started looking at different hotel options, the owners returned my call and made it so simple for us to stay in their home that evening! They were incredibly nice on the phone, and told me about the flat mandatory cleaning fee (whether you stay 1 week or 1 night), and all applicable taxes. The owner honestly told me the cleaning fee wasn't cost-effective for a 1-night stay. However, after looking at different hotel options, I was looking to pay about the same price to book 2 adjacent hotel rooms, not on the beach, or even more for a 3-bedroom suite at the Hilton on Pensacola Beach. Therefore, I had absolutely no issue paying the cleaning fee. The owner's home was far more beautiful and comfortable than the photos show! Perfect location, looking over the beach and the heated swimming pool/hot tub. Being only one story above ground level, it was perfect for the member with us who is terrified of heights. As well, if your'e just needing to leave the pool to grab something out of the home really quick, it doesn't take but a couple minutes to run up and back down. Plenty large enough for 2 adults and 3 boys. Had all the dishes utensils needed to cook, if we had decided to cook. We were within short walking distance of a convenience store and a few restaurants, so we dined out for dinner. I only have 2 complaints about SummerWinds facility itself, having absolutely nothing to do with the wonderful owners or their beautiful home. Upon arrival, there was a man and a woman behind the check-in counter. The woman was tied up doing something, so the man greeted us. It was not a very welcoming greeting. He seemed very rude and condescending. I'm pretty sure the woman behind the desk must have overheard him, because she stepped in and basically took over, with a very positive and customer friendly personality. Final complaint about Summerwinds itself, your pool passes are one-size-fits-all rubber bracelets, required to be turned back in upon check-out, otherwise you are charged $5 per lost rubber band. With three little boys playing around in the pool, one managed to slip off his tiny wrist, became lost, and I was appropriately charged $5 for a rubber band. Regardless, WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!"

  • venus is like home

"I have lost count the number of times I have stayed at Venus. I have memories of me and my family staying in at least 8-9 of the units over the past 12 years. The pool is great, the atmosphere is very family oriented, and the staff are courteous. We like the size of the units and location to beach and activities."

  • Wonderful Time Wonderful Condo

"We enjoyed ever bit of this condo stay. We had been to Waterscape a year previous and this condo was wonderful. Fully stocked with all amenities. More than you would think...kcups/soap/dish soap/laundry soap/face wipes! It was great...the only negative is we didn't use half the stuff we normally bring to a rental condo because it was all there for us! The décor was extremely tasteful. Would have loved to see a full length mirror in the condo...I know some of us hate to look at ourselves, but it was necessary. Wonderful weather and we had a great time. Perfect location!"

Mexico Beach Travel Tips

Mexico Beach is a small coastal community located 20 miles east of Panama City Beach along the Florida Panhandle on the "Forgotten Coast." It's a serene destination on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico and offers the small-town atmosphere you're looking for in a relaxing tropical getaway. Mexico Beach is considered a "secret" vacation spot among families and some have been coming here for generations.

Nature's beauty is preserved and the beaches are full of life in Mexico Beach. Visitors can head out for some shopping or dining and hike through parks and conservancies during their stay. If you want to see the dolphins play at sunset, Mexico Beach is the place to do it. The most favorite pasttime among visitors and locals is swimming in the clear waters.

Mexico Beach Attractions

Beaches: Some of the best beaches in the country are found in Mexico Beach. The sand is made up of nearly 12 different materials and contains quartz crystals. There are no rivers that flow through Mexico Beach so the sand is pure and white, and since it's reflective it doesn't get hot during the summer. Visitors to Mexico Beach get to enjoy 5 miles of the coastline with plenty of public beach access. If you're lucky, you may even get to see a sea turtle. Five endangered species venture onto the shore in Mexico Beach to create nests for their eggs.

Diving: There's easy access to several dive sites off of the coast of Mexico Beach that are perfect for scuba diving, snorkeling and spearfishing. Visitors will enjoy the beauty of the natural and artificial reefs as well as the shipwreck sites. The Empire Mica is a wreck site that will give divers a world-class experience in 105 feet of water. There's also the lumber ship Vamar, which lies 27 feet below the surface near the Bell Shoal area. It's accessible by scuba divers and snorkelers, and is even visible from the surface.

Things to Do in Mexico Beach

Dining: You'll find everything you could want to eat in Mexico Beach. From mom-and-pop eateries to restaurants featuring live entertainment, everyone in the family will find a new favorite food. You can grab fresh seafood from the Fish House Restaurant, Gourmet by the Bay, Killer Seafood or Regan's Pub and Oyster Bar. Or you can choose to relax at Caribbean Coffee, Graba Java Internet Cafe or Sharon's Cafe.

Shopping: If you're looking for a place to shop 'til you drop, head to stores along Highway 98. There's a wide variety of offerings such as gifts and souvenirs as well as other little stores tucked away in motels and restaurants. You can find gifts at Beachwalk Beachwear and Giftware, Frost Pottery Garden and Gift and The Grove.

Fishing: There are more than 125 artificial reefs in the Gulf of Mexico, which make for one amazing fishing trip. Whether you want to hit the water along the coast or head out for some deep sea fishing, you're guaranteed to have a good time in Mexico Beach. There are three bays for launching and many of the charter boats in this coastal town offer inshore or offshore trips that include your gear and license. Some of the species found at Mexico Beach include king and Spanish mackerel, grouper, red and black snapper, mahi mahi, pompani, speckled trout and redfish.
