Very comfortable accommodations, great communication from owner
"My wife, daughter, mom, brother, & I were looking for a place to stay on Molokai. In the past we've stayed with family, but now with our 2 year old daughter we were looking for a place of our own so she could nap & go to bed early.
Annie was really great. She contacted me right away & over the weeks prior to our visit we talked on the phone, via email. & text.
We were specifically looking for a place with at least 2 bedrooms & with a crib or pack-n-play. Annie's condo has 2 bedrooms & is a corner unit, so it was very quiet. There is no AC, but we didn't need it being so close to the ocean & it's breeze. We stayed in the master bedroom with a king sized bed. There's a lanai at the foot of the bed so we left the door open with just the screen & with louvers at the head of the bed we had nice breezes while sleeping.
Annie took our asking about a crib or pack-n-play seriously. She actually ended up buying a crib for us & called to see where we wanted it set up. Now, that's service.
There have been some people critical about the shower. We didn't have a problem with it for the 5 of us. There are 2 half baths connected by a shower that has walk through doors coming from both half baths covered by shower curtains. We would just make sure people knew we were going to use the bathroom & shut both bathroom doors for privacy. It was way nicer to have our own sink & toilet & share a shower than have to share all 3. After living out of a suitcase for 2 weeks it's nice to be able to set out your toiletries & not have to dig through bags for everything.
The condo has a full kitchen. We bought groceries & cooked a lot to save some money. We spent most of our time while at the condo sitting on the lanai off of the living room. What a view! We never really turned on the tv while there because we'd just look at the ocean, Maui & Lanai across the channel, etc.
The grounds of Wavecrest are very well maintained. It's a nice, comfortable place to be. I see now why my parents looked at a condo here prior to my dad's passing. We utilized the swimming pool daily as well as the gas grills & tables & chairs in the covered area by the pool for a couple of meals. We also used the coin operated washer & dryer prior to leaving. There's a laundry room on each level of the building.
We definitely look forward to staying here again. Then next time we're on Molokai we will contact Annie!

"We had a great stay here! The condo was very clean and had everything you might want for a comfortable stay. Cathy was very nice and stopped by on our first day to check in and make sure everything was going well. Despite being on the ground floor you still have an amazing view out to the ocean and the island of Lanai. The pool on the property is also quite nice and a great spot to spend some time relaxing. We were visiting Molokai for the first time with a large group of friends who were largely also able to stay at Wavecrest because there are other condos available for rent. This a huge plus for traveling with a larger group! The island is not very large so we were able to easily get to all of our adventures from this condo! All in all we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting Molokai!"

"We had a wonderful stay at Wavecrest. The owner, John, called to make sure we were set prior to arrival and checked in after arrival to make sure we had everything we needed. Though I am not sure what that might have been as the condo was very well appointed with everything one might need:including a kitchen with every imaginable utensils, reading material, several pairs of binoculars for whale watching from the lanai/balcony overlooking the ocean about 100ft away, with views of Maui and Lanai, and the the humpback whales playing! The furnishings were clean and comfortable. The surrounding grounds offered a nice pool, with a barbaque area, a smal beach OK for fishing. Beautiful serene location to relax, close enough to Kauanakakai for shopping at the farmers market on Saturday a.m.and supplies and Halawa valley for beautiful scenery and waterfalls as well as cultural tours, and great snorkeling beaches nearby (driving distance). Also and easy drive for a hike or mule ride into the Kalaupapa peninsula for beautiful scenery and a lesson in history of the leper colony. We intend to return for another relaxing vacation!"

"This is our second time staying at Bob's condo at the Wavecrest resort. The first time for one week and recently for a one-month stay. The condo was very clean with a nicely updated kitchen. There are beautiful ocean views from inside the condo and on the patio looking over to the island of Maui. We could see whales from the patio.
Other reviews have mentioned the roosters crowing in the morning. We closed the bedroom window at night and I used earplugs and got a good nights sleep.
There is no air-conditioning in the unit, but the ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room kept us cool.
The oceanfront pool and cabana are very nice features of the property. It is a small resort, and it is easy to meet people.
The beach out front is not a good swimming beach as it is an ancient fish pond with a muddy bottom. There are beaches 3 miles and 7 miles from the condo for swimming and snorkeling (and also on the West End).
The Wavecrest resort is 13 miles east of the town of Kaunakakai. We made most of our meals at the condo (often using the barbecues by the pool) and saved our dining out for when we were exploring the island and in town for the Saturday market. There is also a small grocery store and good walk-up diner/window for take-out food 3 miles from the condo. We enjoyed the ukulele jam sessions on Tuesdays at the coffee store and Fridays at Hotel Molokai.
Molokai is NOT the island for you if you want lots of nightlife, fancy restaurants and high-end shopping malls. We like Molokai because of the uncrowded, laid-back lifestyle-no chain stores, no traffic jams, no reason to rush around from one tourist activity to another! We enjoyed exploring the Island-the West End beaches, the Kalaupapa lookout and Sugar Mill Museum, the beautiful Halawa Valley on the East End, hiking, etc. And plenty of time for swimming in the pool, relaxing in the sun and reading.
The booking process was easy with Bob, and he called to make sure everything was fine after we arrived. We hope to stay here again when we return to Molokai.
Mahalo Bob for Molokai Magic!"
