I spent the month of December 2014 at the Wavecrest in the unit 306C in Molokai. I had an amazing time! First, the condo...Really nice, spacious, clean, modern look. The kitchen is very well equipped. I had a surprise invitation to go to a wedding and was asked to bake dessert. To my surprise, I found everything I needed mixer, bowls, spatula and even serving plates! Now, that made my life that much easier...(Thanks Jane!)
The bed is really comfortable and I slept great right away. Of course, some people may mention the roosters early in the morning but to be honest with you, they didn't bother me at all.
The building and community area (pool, cabana and tennis court) are all extremely well maintained. There is always someone cleaning and tending the beautiful landscaping of the place. The pool is not heated but for me it was a plus...I found it to be refreshing. Always some chairs available at the pool and on the premises. BBQ grills are always kept clean and are working great. There is even a fridge at the cabana if you wish to bring some refreshments during the day or keep your food cold while you BBQ.
The island...Well, it is so beautiful! As much the sea, as the mountains. Everywhere you look it's a beautiful sight. Naturally, if you are looking for clubbing, going out in a different restaurant every night...Molokai might not be the place for you. But if like me you are looking to experience a simple, relaxing vacation...don't hesitate, BOOK NOW!
I used Molokai Outdoors for my activities and Clare, the owner, was absolutely awesome. I ended up renting a kayak for the month and did a few hiking trails. I used her services for my transportation as well. Excellent service, I highly recommend her.
The best surprise for me was the people I had the chance to meet at the Wavecrest. People living there permanently or a few months out of the year...they were all so nice and friendly. I felt at home and they became like friends during my stay. I found myself missing them when I was back home! Among those people, you can't go there without getting introduced to Nelson, the local fisherman of the place. You'll see him repair his fishing net and, for a few dollars, he'll prepare fish in ti leaf ready to BBQ for you! Can't go to the Wavecrest without eating some of Nelson's treats!
I didn't rent a car and traveled with the local bus. It's free but you should leave a donation. Amazing time, beautiful place, wonderful people...
