  • Great House, Great Location

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at this lovely home in early October. The location was perfect for us -- just a couple of blocks from the downtown area (far western end) and on a very pretty, quiet cul-de-sac. A 10-15 minute walk to the (South) beach/light house and a 2 minute drive. Easy walk to all the shops and restaurants for my elderly mother. The property has been professionally landscaped and appears newly remodeled. The home is immaculately clean and well maintained. Lots of windows and a bright, spacious feeling interior. The kitchen was beautiful and well-stocked with everything you need for a comfortable visit. Loved the first floor laundry. Bathrooms very nice. Master bath on second floor has separate shower and soaking tub, dual sinks. Towels were abundant and of a good quality similar to what you'd find in a Hampton Inn (mid-range, white, absorbent and fluffy). Bedrooms all on second floor with comfortable beds and plenty of storage space. MBR spacious with wall of windows and large deck, as well as a "crow's nest" loft . You can see the river from the second floor deck/MBR and the loft area. First floor had open living area with connected living and family rooms, and kitchen. Comfortable seating and flat screen TV. Books and magazines. Nice deck off kitchen, with dining table/chairs, good lighting and suspended wooden swinging bench. Gas grill located in small, but beautifully landscaped, fenced back yard. Back yard open to one next door neighbor whose property is professionally landscaped to blend -- very nicely done. Neighbors on all sides quiet and we rarely saw them. The covered front porch was cute and comfortable, with a couple of white rockers. Blinds and curtains for privacy on all windows except stairwell. Ceiling fans everywhere kept the house comfortable along with up-to-date central air and heat. We really appreciated that the owner was quite prompt in responding to our last minute request for accommodation and very easy to work with. Provided good instructions. Owner was easily available via phone/text. Highly recommend this home with super nice owners and would definitely stay again. Love the beaches, orchards (Dutch Farm Market and Crane's) , cute shops and restaurants, friendly people, "walkability", and nice, down-home atmosphere of South Haven. Nearby towns and beaches we also enjoyed visiting included Saugatuck and St. Joseph. Just a beautiful area"

  • Location & Sunsets!

"This location was everything we wanted for a special reunion with friends! We rented this fantastic house for 4 couples and it was very comfortable and roomy. It was wonderful to have a huge kitchen and dining area facing the beautiful lake front. The pictures and property description are right- the views are spectacular! All of the balconies are front row seats to the amazing sunsets. Having the beautiful clean beach just steps outside the door was so convenient for walks and having fun. South Haven is a very nice small town. Easy to walk around. Lots to do in the area.We rented bikes, did a fishing charter and even took a ride on a historic tall ship. Having a 2 car garage was also a nice bonus. This place has everything you need for a wonderful vacation and the owners are extremely nice to work with. We want to return here next year and would highly recommend this property."

  • Magical vacation home!

"The Sandcastle is truly magical and even more beautiful in person than the photos. We stayed at Sandcastle for a week in August and the accommodations were perfect. We are so grateful to Wendy and John for opening their beautiful home to us: we couldn't have been happier with our accommodations, the hospitality and the location! Communications, planning and the house were all top notch! Very easy to book and plan. Wendy and John are just really nice people and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed Wendy’s artwork and John’s stone sculptures that can be found throughout the property. The house itself is secluded in the woods with a gorgeous view and private beach access to Lake Michigan. We enjoyed sunsets from the many decks on the property and by the bonfire. I especially liked the view of lake Michigan from the master bedroom which gives you the illusion that you are perched high in the trees overlooking the lake. Beautiful and so peaceful!! The home had more gadgets and toys inside and out than we could have ever used. From bicycles, paddleboard, basketball, swing set and the private beach you could find a new adventure on the property everyday. They've thought of everything including bouquets of fresh flowers on every table inside and outside of the home. We took our dog with us and he loved every minute of being with us on vacation. Thank you for allowing dogs. This is a great home for couples or families with kids the grounds are truly a child's wonderland with so many options availably to keep them entertained. Thank you for a wonderful vacation we hope to return next year."
