About this property

Fowey is one of the jewels of the south Cornish coast. Many of the most popular attractions of Cornwall are within easy reach, such as the Eden Project or the harbour of Charlestown, yet Fowey is a magical destination in itself, with sailing boats bobbing in the estuary, and unique events throughout the year like the summer regatta and the Christmas Fair. Place View gives you excellent views of the medieval town and the estuary below from the front terrace, where there’s seating for six.
The cottage may be traditional, but the interior is comfortably contemporary, with Smart TVs, a very well-equipped kitchen and a roll top bath in the bathroom. The bright and soft decorations create a feeling of space in the summer but are equally relaxing in the winter, with an open fire adding to the warmth and comfort.
Whether you’re enjoying a morning coffee in the Garden Room or having a last glass of wine on the terrace looking out on the estuary below, you’ll find yourself soon relaxing into the Cornish pace of life at Place View. This holiday at a glance Sleeps six guests. Two double bedrooms. Twin bedroom. One bathroom and one shower room. Open fire in the sitting room. Front terrace with stunning views of the estuary. Attractions and nearby amenities This whole coastline used to make its living from the fishing industry, and you can still see some of the charming history across the region. Polperro is a beautiful historic fishing village, with a maze of narrow and winding streets. You can hire boats here and try your hand at fishing yourself. Another traditional fishing village worth a visit is Mevagissey, which still has a working harbour. If you visit Mevagissey, you’re just a short drive away from the Lost Gardens of Heligan, a fascinating Victorian garden that was rediscovered and restored in the 1990s. One of the people behind the restoration went on to create The Eden Project, an absolutely unique attraction with a bewildering array of plants and trees from all corners of the earth. The architecture is as spectacular as the plant life. Fancy some shopping while you’re here? Truro is a bustling and thriving market town with lots of independent shops and cafés. The cathedral is a masterpiece of Victorian architecture, and the art museum has lots of fun activities for the little ones too. If the art museum doesn’t tire them out, take the children to Camel Creek Adventure Park, where they can go on a fairground ride or meet and groom animals, including meerkats, reptiles and ponies. Restormel Castle is a fascinating 13th century ruin, where you can still pick out the main rooms of the castle and enjoy the views of the River Fowey below. It’s a good spot for a picnic – keep your eyes peeled for the famous black pheasants that live here. For a. grander vision of Cornwall’s history, Lanhydrock is a fully preserved late Victorian mansion, where you can see the grandeur of the family rooms upstairs, along with all the paraphernalia of the working kitchens below. You can hire bicycles here to cycle through the extensive grounds and beyond too.

Place View is a prettily decorated, very cosy house in the heart of Fowey, with easy to access shops, restaurants and the harbour and very near the church so be ready for bells to ring all thru the night! The beds are comfy with nice linens and the big bath off the master bedroom is great to soak in after a day of walking. View from the tub is stunning! The house is so well equipped and a lovely welcome basket was gifted to us with cheese and wine. We loved it.
The property itself is fantastic furnished & appointed to a high standard.
The only problem I had was the parking which is situated nearly 500 yrds away up a steep hill it could prove challenging for someone who lacks in fitness.
Absolutely fab . Although the car park was some distance we managed to get the bus up but had a long walk back , we had to avoid the steps which are steep. As I am 80 and my wife is 73 we found the going a bit of a challenge . Perhaps we would have been better with parking by the property and on river side and perhaps you could have metioned it at the outset
The house is lovely. I stayed with my elderly parents who walk with sticks and I didn’t appreciate how steep the hill to the property was. I have since read the reviews which point out that it’s steep and the car park is a half a km away - for us this was an 8 to 10 minutes walk. We had to collect the car and pick my parents up. It’s very difficult to park outside the house to offload too,the steep hill and single narrow road makes this challenging. If accessibility is no issue then it’s a great place to stay! Well stocked kitchen, comfy beds and homely decor! I’d come back but not with people with mobility issues.. fowey is gorgeous and lots of lovely restaurants too.
