Tavoitteenamme on tehdÀ sinusta tuntuu mukava ja kotoisaksi meidÀn 1860-luvulla mökki, joka on laajasti remontoitu kauttaaltaan. AlkuperÀinen liuskekivi edessÀ on yksi vain kaksi, jotka ovat edelleen olemassa kylÀssÀ. Kaksi erillistÀ hyvÀ koko olohuone ja antelias koko keittiö tarjoaa runsaasti perheen elintilaa sÀÀllÀ kuin sÀÀllÀ. Sijainti on hieman yli satama, syrjÀssÀ ruuhka-aikoina, joka tarjoaa yksityisyyttÀ vielÀ vÀlitöntÀ pÀÀsyÀ kylÀÀn, satama ja rannat, ihanteellista tutustua alueen jalka, bussilla tai autolla. PysÀköinti itsellenne ja vieraillesi on aivan. Vakaa ovi avautuu yksityinen, suojainen, graniitti / tiili sisÀpiha koholla nurmialue. Ihanteellinen chill out lounasaikaan tai viettÀÀ tunnin ja loput oman puolueen joutuvat kÀvelylle tai rannalla. SiellÀ on sekÀ auringon ja varjon. Pop down kahdessa minuutissa lounaalle heidÀn kanssaan pubissa. Mona's Cottage is absolutely lovely and located in the charming town of Charlestown.Carole, the host, met us and showed us around the property, and left some wonderful local treats which we greatly enjoyed.The entire cottage is well appointed, very coxy and comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need.There's proximity to many eating establishments and.places to visit.A top notch property and stay for six nights.

Great cottage, super location

The cottage is very well maintained, very clean and well stocked with all we needed. The cottage has been well cared for, I’m quite picky but had nothing to complain about at all. The two levels of small patio and garden caught the sun morning and evening, and from the upper level we could see the sea. There are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance, so no need to drive.

Lovely, cozy cottage in the heart of Charlestown.

Carole's place is a lovely, cozy cottage, with plenty of light and lovely views of the harbour. While the rooms are not large, there are plenty of them with room for everything. Carole is a very accommodating host, leaving us all the makings of a cream tea and a bottle of wine. The restaurants and shops are only a few steps away. Highly recommend. Thanks, Carole, for sharing your lovely cottage with us.

Lovely cottage in a central location

The cottage was exactly as described and we were met by the owner who was extremely helpful and friendly. It is in a great location which is very close to the harbour but also quiet. The cottage is full of original features and character but has all necessary modern facilities.

Had an amazing stay at Mona's cottage, excellent property above the harbour.. with plenty of restaurants to choose from! What a view to wake up to, from the front bedrooms! We were met at the front door by Carole who introduced us to the cottage and had advice of places to visit. Great cottage, well equipped, in a central location for visits to some amazing places in Cornwall

Lovely home from home

Charlestown is such a lovely, picturesque place to visit, and even nicer to stay. And Mona's Cottage is an ideal home from which to do so. It has a nice lay out, is very well furnished and has all the nice touches you might want, including a hallway where you can take off your boots and hang up all your outdoor clobber. There are several excellent eating out options in the village and a nearby Tesco if you prefer to self cater most of the time, as we did. I can also recommend the 1.5 mile cliff walk from the village to Carlyon Bay where there are a number of cafe and drink options on the beach.

Such a beautiful cottage and location

Mona's cottage was just as described. It was on a quiet street just back from the harbour and the parking right outside was a real bonus. The cottage was very well equipped and very comfortable. Fabulous shower..! Lovely outdoor space and very close to the harbour and the beaches. All correspondence and the welcome from the owner was great - thank you Carole.. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Deserves more than 10/10

During last two weeks in July 2024 we had spent our family holidays at Mona‘s Cottage. We‘re from Germany and did spend several holidays in UK already, also in Cornwall. But this place is rather special. The Cottage itself is spacious for a family of 4 (including two Teenagers), is well equipped, great comfortable beds and a remarkable powerfull shower. For the Teenagers: yes, WiFi was also strong and stable
 Smart TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video if you bring your own Logins, Bluray Player with loads of DVDs etc There is a protected patio with morning sun, which was our preferred place to enjoy breakfeast, parking at site, kitchen well equipped, too. While Charlestown can be busy at times, this Cottage sits just on the edge, so you will always have a great great retreat with all that you need for an evening drink or dinner just steps away. The coastal path is just around the corner and we had Walks wit outstanding views e. g. from Looe to Gribbin Head - but also directly from Charlestown to Carlyon Beach (20-30 min). Many things to do are just around the corner. We did trips to Eden Project, Mevagissey, Looe, St Ives, Truro, Lizard Point, Fowey
. All within +/- 1h drive and much more would have been reachable within same time. While unfortunately St Austell itself isn‘t the nicest city in Cornwall, it offers almost all supermarkets like Tesco, a 24h ASDA, Lidl and Aldi, others
 We can only recommend this place. Will definetely not forget our holidays here.

Home from home

Lovely, comfortable cottage with sea view in very quiet area of Charlestown. Had everything that we may have needed and lovely care package of wine, yeast cakes, clotted cream and milk. Carole and her husband met us at the cottage and went through everything with us. Would definitely stay again if the chance arose.

Excellent stay

Carole was wonderful and met us at the door to explain everything. House is lovely and everything is provided. We had a little welcome package too which was very much appreciated. Charlestown is close to lots of lovely places to visit including the Lost gardens of Heligan, the Eden project and St Austells brewery. There are also lots of coffee shops, bars and restaurants close by. Highly recommended.

Amazing

My wife, infant daughter and mother in law stayed here for the majority of our vacation in the UK. It was the perfect place to take day trips by car throughout Cornwall. The hosts were amazing, very responsive and accommodating. They provided additional items such as a pack n play, baby gate and bathtub for our daughter. We were traveling from the states with a little one so the extra attention to making things easier with her was greatly appreciated. Charlestown was so beautiful that we spent several days just staying there, our stay was 8 nights but we easily could have stayed a month. Would absolutely rent again if we’re back in Cornwall, Charlestown was extremely easy to drive into by car and the parking is convenient and easy at the cottage, can’t recommend enough!

Wonderful Charlestown Retreat

We had a wonderful stay in this amazing cottage. Lots of room for the whole family and the amenities were great. Charlestown can be notoriously busy, but since this cottage is behind the shipwreck center it was peaceful and quiet even on a busy weekend. Loved waking up to the view of the sea in the distance. We will absolutely consider staying again on a future trip! If I had to come up with any suggestions, I might suggest getting some bedside lamps so that kids who are afraid of the dark can have some light on all night without having to keep the overhead light on. We moved a lamp from the lounge to my daughter's room while we were there so she could have some light. Thanks again for the use of this amazing cottage!

Very enjoyable

Lovely cottage within the village of Charlestown. Comfortable and well equipped, with pleasant outdoor areas. The beds were comfortable and the shower great. We enjoyed the proximity to the coastal path, and Charlestown picturesque harbour with its pubs and restaurants. Handy for getting to Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan which were both great. Also nearby to many villages and beaches. there is so much to see in Cornwall that we didn't manage this time, which all felt within reach with a car from the cottage. We felt the village was missing a corner/grocery shop for essentials, but the supermarkets and bakeries in St Austell are close by and straightforward to get to.

Beautifull cottage to enjoy whole Cornwall

We loved the stay at Mona`s Cottage in a perfect location. The cottage was like described and offered everything you need for a nice holiday. The most advantage was the lovely chimney and the short distance to harbour and beach. The friendly welcome gave us a good feeling at the cottage.

Charming coastal cottage

We loved staying at Mona's Cottage. It was very comfortable with a great dining table for family card games, social living room, nice outdoor courtyard and absolutely great location for exploring Charlestown, taking coastal walks, and visiting nearby sites (Eden Project is a must see). I would definitely book again!

We live two miles away in St. Austell and have owned this cottage for 23 years. We rebuilt it with love and care over a long period and tried to retain all its traditional feel. One day we hope to move into it and so we did it up with that in mind rather than as a holiday let. You will find some quirky features which reflect the love we have for the cottage. Our three grown up children all live and work locally. We clean the cottage ourselves and are on hand should there be problems.

We own this pair of semi detached cottages. Originally we bought number 24, next door, on impulse after a chance viewing - we were not looking for something to buy. The quiet setting seemed just magical, even though the harbour was just a stone throw away. Guests seem to find it the same. We completely renovated the property over too many years for any economic sense. Many people return year on year. Mona Hurley lived next door in number 23 and we became great friends. She was in her late eighties and had no inside loo. In time we approached her and her landlords and managed to buy her house and on day one put a loo in the back bedroom which delighted her as she "would never need her whatnot again" Mona lived to 94 and we then started another long renovation journey. Enjoy them.
