Water's Edge was all it was described by it's Home Away description, and so much more. The Villa is comfortable and equipped with everything you could ever need in a vacation, and included amenities that are never present in rentals along the East Coast of the U.S. For example, the cottage included thick beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, and snorkeling equipment. These beach items were greatly appreciated as we traveled to a different beach on Eleuthera each and every day, and often needed shade. The bedrooms were large and comfortable, and the bathrooms were modern and spotless. Linens, blankets, and pillows for the beds (and pull-out sofa bed) were abundantly provided, and the washer and dryer were new, and performed flawlessly. Each bathroom was supplied with a hair blow dryer, and large, new bottle of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

The Water's Edge kitchen is equipped not only with dishes and glasses, but with all of the necessary pots, pans, knives, serving utensils, and serving platters to make your own gourmet meals. This was especially important to our family of five: we traveled with two soft sided coolers filled with frozen meat, chicken, pork loin, ham etc. The pantry area of the kitchen was generously supplied with coffee filters, tea bags, sugar, salt, etc. There was a large number of spices for cooking as well.

Finally, the location is ideal. The ocean can be viewed from the lovely large front porch, and the Andarondak chairs on top of the dune were perfect for reading and watching the cruise ships pass by Eleuthera in the distance in the evenings. It is well worth visiting some of the nearby beaches; the coves provide sheltered, gentle, warm water for young children, and with the coral reefs at arms length, the underwater life is a joy to watch. The water temperature was in the high 70sF, and the air temperature was in the low 80sF our entire two week trip. We only experienced one vday in which the no-see-ums were biting, but moving our beach gear close to the water avoided any bites (on all other days, a nice, warm breeze kept the biting bugs away). The beach at Water's Edge is on the Atlantic side, which can be rough in some spots, but our children had no difficulty playing in the relatively low waves. Our children also had great fun catching (and releasing) small lizards and hermit crabs that lived in the sand and plants of the Water's Edge colorful garden.

Overall, Water's Edge was a truly wonderful place to spend a restful, fun, and restorative holiday.

Waters Edge-A delightful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

My daughter, sister and I had the pleasure of staying at Waters Edge from September 27-October 4, 2017.

I have rented 9 different homes in Eleuthera in less than 4 years. This one was by far the best. In the kitchen you will find nice dishes, flatware, cook ware and stainless steel appliances. It was a pleasure to eat and cook there. I was impressed with the two master suits with nice, good quality linens and very nice tiled showers with rain shower heads. The house was clean and furnished with nice comfortable furniture. We saw cute and quirky beach themes in every room. All of this made us feel welcome and comfortable.

Wifi and cable worked well.

The location was amazing, just a few steps to the beautiful Atlantic ocean. We spent many hours beachcombing and watching the waves roll in. It was so quiet and peaceful.

Everything is provided for you from high quality kitchen ware to bottles of shampoo and conditioner in the bath to beach towels and more.

The owners and caretaker made us feel welcome before we even got there and continued to make sure we were comfortable throughout our stay.

IThe whole atmosphere of the house feels calm and relaxing. I have not experienced this with the homes I rented in Eleuthera except for one other, but it was a large house that slept 12-14 people which was great for that trip sense we had a large group.

Overall Waters Edge is an island gem. I can’t say enough good things about the house or its owners. We loved this house and hope it will be available for our next trip.

If I had only one word to describe Waters Edge, it would be “Delightful”

The price is very reasonable

Hmmm………I honestly can’t think of a single thing.

A holiday to remember

  • 5 of 5

Myself and four family members planned a trip to Waters Edge in the middle of hurricane season. We were lucky and were spared the worst of hurricane Irma. The final decision was made just the day before our departure about whether to go or not. After speaking with the owners Jim and Holly again it came down to me making the final decision. We went. We were lucky.

The villa looked just as described with the welcoming porch and the ocean just a path walk away. Inside you felt at home immediately with the cosy atmosphere that the house provides. The great room was a nice size and the two master bedrooms were spacious and both have private baths. The kitchen has everything you will need for preparing meals and the appliances were in good working order.

The beach in front of the house is one of the nicest on the island. Spent many happy hours on the dune deck with a beach umbrella and a drink in my hand.

We had Ada the housekeeper prepare a meal for us so that we would have it upon arrival. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. Ada also picked up a few supplies for us so that we would not have to stop for groceries on the way from the airport. I do recommend taking advantage of this service. Ada is a very special lady and she will be available along with Doyle if you need any assistance.

We were adopted by a dog on our second day of the vacation. She followed my niece Nicole home from the beach and she stayed with us for the whole week. There are many dogs on the island that have no home. You will see them as you drive around. Most are friendly but a little shy. We were able to find out a little about our dog. Her name was Ellie and she will be going to a home in Texas in a few weeks. She will continue to run free until it is time for her to go.

We were able to get fresh fish and lobster in Governors Harbour on two days. If you are a sea food lover you must give this a try. Reasonable prices and the freshest fish you will ever eat.

I want to mention the importance of insect repellent and the use of it. I used it every day. My four companions did not. Thought it was not needed. They are now covered in bites. I am not.

The house, the beach, the location and the people of Eleuthera made this a very special holiday for us. We will remember it well and one day hope to return to Waters Edge.

The only thing that I missed was a rocking chair on the porch. I might still be there rocking if there were.

Enjoy your stay.

A Relaxing Vacation on Beautiful Beaches

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four (kids age 20 and 16) truly enjoyed our second vacation in Eleuthera and staying at the Waters Edge Villa. The location of the villa was ideal for day trips to the north and south, and its proximity to Governor’s Harbour, Ten Bay beach and Savannah Sound was perfect. During our 12 days/11 nights the weather was outstanding; we only experienced rain overnight on one evening. Based on the wind direction/conditions we chose between Atlantic or Caribbean beaches. The close proximity to Ten Bay and protected Atlantic beaches, including “On the Rocks” beach and “Twin Coves” beach offered the perfect solution on windier days. With over 100 beaches on the island there are no shortage of options.

Owner Jim and caretakers Doyle and Ada were excellent resources. The villa was clean and well-stocked and Doyle was just a phone call away. The villa offered excellent wifi service, which our kids appreciated during the evening hours to stay connected with friends.

The villa provided plenty of room for our family of four and offered a complete kitchen and outdoor gas grill for meals on-site. Based on previous vacation experience in Exuma and Eleuthera, we travel with a carry-on cooler stocked with meat, which allows us to spend more time enjoying outdoor activities, as well as benefit from significant savings on restaurant meals for a family of four. That said, we did enjoy excellent meals at Tippy’s, 1648, Buccaneer Club, Rainbow Inn, Coral Sands in Harbour Island and Wrecker’s in Spanish Wells. We were also delighted with breakfast items from the Governor’s Harbour Bakery, Da Perk Coffee Shop and Island Farm!

The Barefoot Beach Villa location offered us many options, activities, and adventures. Thanks again Jim for a wonderful vacation in Paradise! We hope to return in the future.

Kind Regards,

Kevin Crum

Comfortable House on Beautiful Beach

  • 5 of 5

We visited Water's Edge in November - 2 couples each with a 9-10 month old baby. It was perfect for us! The beach just down the stairs was excellent for playing in the sand and snorkeling when the water was calm (about half the visit it was too rough for good snorkeling) and walking for miles in either direction hardly seeing anyone. Absolutely beautiful. A quick 10 minute drive across the island to Ten Bay Beach on the Caribbean side was a great alternative when the water was rough or to watch the sunset. We explored other beaches on the island as well (Lighthouse Beach was especially amazing) and have much more to see on our next visit!

Jim and Holly were super nice and helpful, as were the caretakers Ada and Doyle. Ada cooked a delicious dinner for us the last night we were there. They also arranged our rental car, which belonged to their son-in-law. This was especially great when we got a flat tire on our last morning and they fixed it straight-away so we could get to the airport on time (it's still island time, so always give yourself some extra!).

The house has everything you need - spices, bags, great kitchen utensils, etc. We didn't bring our own food (already so much stuff traveling with two babies!), and it was expensive but we found everything we needed at the local stores in Governor's Harbor. We cooked most meals at the house but ate out at Mate and Jenny's (really tasty pizza!) and Buccaneer's Club (tasty but a bit expensive like everything on the island!).

I would highly recommend Water's Edge. Get ready to relax and enjoy your own island paradise!

Highly recommended for those who want to get away from it all. Remote location (you need a car), amazing beach, and extremely quiet. The house was well taken care of with all the amenities one would need to be very comfortable. The owners are very approachable and helpful when booking and planning our trip. In addition, the caretakers for the property were very attentive and willing to help with anything we needed. Flawless experience!
