About this property

This is a spacious 800 sq. ft. lower level walk-out apartment. It is located on the shores of magnificent Lake Superior and is only steps from the beach. Beach umbrella and chairs, fire pit and wood, an outdoor bistro table, Weber grill with charcoal are all provided. The apartment has an efficiency kitchen and a private entrance with your personal key.

It features a large flat screen TV, premium channels, pool table, elliptical bike, bathroom w/electric sauna, and a kitchenette. There is a lovely private queen size bedroom featuring high quality ironed sheets.In addition, there is an electric fireplace and high-speed fiber optic wifi available for your use.

This property is located 15 minutes from Munising and the famous Pictured Rocks where you can enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, and picture taking. Grand Island has hiking trails, sea caves, and waterfalls. Both sites are famous for their brilliant colored sandstone cliffs. Munising Bay has a lovely harbor, restaurants, microbreweries, and free concerts in the park on Tuesday evenings.

The quaint city of Marquette is about 35 minutes away and is home to Northern Michigan University. Its locations in the harbor makes for a very picturesque setting. There you can find several breweries, restaurants, and shops. If golf is your passion, there are three courses nearby: Pictured Rocks Golf Course in Munising, Grey Walls in Marquette, and Sweetgrass in Escanaba.

If fishing is your thing, there are two charter boat companies in Shelter Bay about 2 miles west of the property which offer full and 1/2
day excursions. There is also a public boat launch less that a mile east of the apartment, so you're almost certain to come home with dinner.

Great spot on Lake Superior

This was a great place to stay. Close to Lake Superior and also close to either Munising or Marquette. Also close to some very nice waterfalls. The place was clean and super comfortable, and the items left for our use were very much appreciated. Thanks for a good time.

UP getaway

What an amazing place! The location was perfect for exploring Pictured Rocks, Grand Island and numerous waterfalls. Also enjoyed tasty food at Foggy's & Cap'n Ron's. Julie & Bob were the most gracious hosts and provided everything you could think of, from breakfast goodies to chocolates & wine to a sauna. The bed was very comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked and plenty of entertainment for an evening in. And the view! All we can say is WOW! We are so jealous that you get that view every day. Thank you so much for sharing your space with us, and for the recommendation for pasties from the Au Train Grocery. They are delicious! Also, kudos to your neighbor for the yummy homemade maple syrup. Thanks again for a most enjoyable stay. We'll be back for sure!

cozy little get away

Really nice location. Very easy to explore the area from. Great hosts and very accommodating. Beach access was peaceful and secluded. Would highly recommend!

We are both retired school teachers from the lower peninsula who moved here to live in this beautiful area. We previously lived in Sterling Heights where we raised our six children. We know have 5 wonderful grandchildren and a sixth is due this summer. All of our children love to come visit us here, and it has become a very special place for them as well as us. We've made many meaningful memories here. We hope that you will do the same, and enjoy our home as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

This property is located between the two cities of Munising and Marquette. We are in the middle of the Hiawatha National Forest and some of the most beautiful shoreline in the Upper Peninsula. From the property you can see Grand Island in the distance and picturesque little AuTrain Island is within a
kayak ride away. You cannot find another lodging closer to the water than Cherry Pointe Cottage Apartment or more accommodating hosts.

What makes this property unique

Although we live on the premises, you will be the only other people on this property. You have a private keyed entrance and a very large area to stay; more spacious and homey than a hotel/motel room. It's a cozy, comfortable apartment.
