About the property

4 bedroom, stunning views

One of a kind 4BR 3BA 5,200 sqft home. Stunning views of the CO Ntl Mnt and entire Grand Valley. Our grandpa, a home builder, designed this rustic house as a masterpiece for his family. He wanted it to be part of nature, so he fit it between trees and inside left exposed the massive sandstone slab on which it’s built. Experience nature but less than 15 minutes from downtown. This large house has entertained our family and friends for generations, and we’re thrilled that now you can share it with yours, too.

---------Home Description----------

Our grandpa designed and built this unique home in a way that captures the rugged terrain on which it sits and compliments the stunning natural beauty of the Colorado National Monument that serves as the backdrop. He made it so every room has its own stunning view. Look closely at the photos to see the rock and wood detail throughout. The sandstone slab of the hill on which it’s built actually makes up the entire wall of the downstairs family room and the floor of the room above. Grandpa had artistic vision, creativity, and the craftsmanship to put it all together and he built this house from his heart. (He was still building furniture for us well into his 90s!). It has served as a cherished place for family gatherings, and we invite you to enjoy your vacation the way we have enjoyed this home throughout the generations. Have breakfast in the kitchen or on the upper deck, while enjoying unobstructed views of the Colorado National Monument and the way the morning sun hits the red rocks. Spend evenings by the massive fireplace watching the sun set over the Bookcliffs and the Grand Valley. During the summers you might catch a lightning storm over the grand valley as the thunder echoes off the massive canyon walls behind the house. Or use our BBQ to make your meal on our giant deck while taking in the views. Take leisurely walks through the neighborhood or drive/bike to get to everything that Grand Junction has to offer. (See list below!)

While most of the home furnishings are rustic and cozy in a way that preserves the years of fond memories, we made sure you had enough upgraded guest amenities to make your stay as comfy as can be: hotel-quality linens, plush towels, and plenty of toiletries. You get to enjoy a vacation with maybe the most gorgeous views in the Grand Valley, in a house full of charmingly-old stuff spanning generations, but you still get to sleep as if you were staying in a great hotel. Please note that we water the outdoor plants once a day and also feed the (friendly) outdoor cat.

About Angela Turrou

We live in Los Angeles but we share the house with our parents, who live right down the road and love hosting our guests. We have traveled all over the world and our best experiences have been when we were invited to local homes and got to know the people living there. We hope you get to know Grand Junction just a little bit better- and we know you will be blown away by the views in our unique home.

Angela Turrou purchased this house in 2017

Why Angela Turrou chose Grand Junction

Our grandpa built it and we couldn't let it leave our family! It's just too beautiful of a house. Grandma and Grandpa had always talked about making it into a bed and breakfast, way before VRBO was around, and we're happy to fulfill their wishes.

Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

We had a holiday family gathering at this amazing house. The views are gorgeous and the trail access is unbeatable. MTBers - lunch loops is super close and for those of you hiking with kiddos, there are great trails in the monument a few miles away. The house itself is really fun...quirky in a good way, with lots of room to spread out if you have a big group. The hosts are very friendly and responsive. Enjoy the Best Slope!

Just the right setting for our Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our 6 person study group booked "The House on the Rock" for our 2 1/2 day retreat. We really enjoyed the accommodations for 6 adults, plenty of comfortable beds. We cooked our meals and the kitchen was fully equipped to meet our needs. The uniqueness of the house is wonderful....with a real family feel. Lots of square footage and lots of rooms to accommodate different activities for families or other groups of people. If the occasion arises, I would definitely want to stay here again!

What a great house. You are really guests of the family here. We really enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the morning with our coffee and at night to watch the stars. Great views. Loved it!

Couldn't have asked for better!

  • 5 of 5

"Unique" is an understatement for this house, more accurately it should be "Biggest and MOST AWESOME!!!" The house met all of the requirement you would want and many more. We were in town with grandparents tagging along for a college drop off, and the house & location couldn't have been better. The beds are tremendous, everyone in the house commented on how wonderful they slept over our several day stay. The surroundings are beautiful and deer & wildlife walk through the front yard (a plus for everyone relaxing in the TV/Family Room). Cooking was a breeze in the kitchen the entire time, as we truly had no issues. I would recommend staying to anyone, and wouldn't hesitate in going back. The place is a great treat for families (as even both grandparents agreed)!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the great review! We're glad the house worked out for your family. It's funny- the deer didn't used to come around until a couple years ago, but now I think they think they're part of the family. :) Glad they visited while you did!
