This unique home lays in 400m2 outdoor area and is embellished with a 35m2 private swimming pool (depth ranges from 0,80 to 1,60 meters) & a special children’s pool compartment (1,50x1,50 & 0,50 meters deep). Grown-ups can lounge to their sun loungers before idling back for al fresco barbecues under sunset skies. The Villa boasts BBQ facilities (charcoal) & sink for culinary wonders, as well as an outdoor dinning area & sitting area to enjoy your coffee and drinks. With outdoor settings & tableware, don’t miss the opportunity to gather the family for a summer supper. Cook up a wild foraged feast or enjoy the perfect spot lounge area for an evening glass of wine.

Cleverly repurposed finds and sumptuous furnishings create a calming sensory design throughout. The spacious villa spreads through two floors, making it an ideal escape for a large family or a group of friends and can accommodate up to 12 guests in real beds. In addition, 3 more guests can be accommodated on two of the bedrooms on the ground floor, in three single sofa beds. What’s more, 2 more guests can also be accommodated in two folding beds. The maximum capacity is 17 guests.

Location Overview
Antigoni Villa is located in the picturesque & historic Eleutherna village. The surrounding area is quiet, a place where you can relax and feel “away from it all”. The village has one traditional tavern, a few traditional cafes and a mini market. There is a village “Eleutherna” and then the village of Ancient Eleutherna which are a few kilometeres apart. Still, due to its position in the prefecture of Rethymno, access by car is easy to most parts of the island, for example Chania, Heraklion, Sfakia, Anogeia, Knossos, Faistos and the southern coast beaches.

Historic Facts:
Eleutherna (Greek: Ἐλεύθερνα), also called Apollonia, was an ancient city-state in Crete, which lies 25 km southeast of Rethymno. Archaeologists excavated the site, located on a narrow northern spur of Mount Ida, the highest mountain in Crete. The site is about 1 km south of modern town of Eleuthern, about 8 km north east of Moni Arkadiou, in the current municipality of Rethymno. It flourished from the Dark Ages of Greece’s early history until Byzantine times.

In the nearby Village of Margarites, within just 10 minutes driving, there is a good selection of cafes and traditional tavernas, as well as a mini market, bakery and a butcher’s shop. The picturesque settlement of Margarites is well known for its pottery, so souvenirs are a must, and the village, with its extraordinary architecture and lovely narrow winding streets, is well worth exploring.

Furthermore, Perama town is located 20 minutes away by car ( approximately within 12 kilometre distance) and offers a variety of shops and daily amenities, such as a bakery, grocery store, butcher’s, fresh fish, taverns, cafes, supermarkets, ATM machines, pharmacies, gas stations and post office.

Finally Panormo, is a friendly sea side village, approximately 25 minutes away by car and well known for its sandy beaches. The two main beaches are Limanaki and Limni. Both of them are sandy with clear blue water and ideal for kids, as they are shallow and well protected from winds. The beaches are organised and equipped with sun beds & umbrellas. Water sports are also available. The harbour beach in front of the village is the port of the area, where the boats tie up, this beach is unorganised.

Museum of ancient Eleutherna
This newly inaugurated interactive museum leads the visitor through a journey of the life of Eleutherna’s past inhabitants. In one wing, a six metre interactive wall illustrates the journey that many objects made to reach the hands of Eleutherna’s inhabitants, from Egypt, Syria, Athens, Asia Minor, Cyprus, North Africa and all over the Mediterranean revealing a lively trade several millennia ago.

Another wing of the museum is dedicated to the necropolis of Orthi Petra which has revealed data that bring to mind the burial customs depicted by Homer in The Iliad. His description of the funeral pyre of Patroclus draws parallels to the important cemetery finds from the Homeric age where tombs were laden with gold, silver, copper, metal, crystal, and glass bead jewellery, glass, clay and copper vessels, and scores of weapons, swords, sword tips and tools.
