Lavender Cottage is a beautifully presented Cotswold stone period property, which sleeps four guests, in two well-appointed bedrooms, with a modern family bathroom. On the ground floor you have a stylish sitting room which leads into the well equipped kitchen/dining area with direct access to the peaceful garden, boasting plenty of outdoor seating, perfect for those warmer months. Dating back to the 18th century, the interior has a wealth of character features, including wooden beams, exposed Cotswold stone walls and a stone fireplace with an electric flame effect stove, perfect for those cosy nights in!

This two bedroom holiday cottage in Bourton-on-the-Water is perfectly suited for those looking to get together with family and friends, exploring the local countryside and eateries. The accommodation is laid out as follows:

Outside
Well maintained front garden, spilt over three tiers and home to two bistro tables with seating for four and a shed, shared with two neighbouring cottages, provides storage for two bicycles. Surrounded by mature shrubbery and striking clematis which covers the exterior of the cottage and blossoms in the warmer months. Please note that although the garden is private, right of access to the shared shed is permitted for neighbours.

The maximum occupancy for this property is four guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by one additional infant (aged 2 or under)
Bed linen and towels are provided
Free on-street parking directly outside cottage gate & there is some limited street parking available in Bourton-on-the-Water, however guests may prefer to park in the main village car park (Pay & Display), a short walk away from the property
1 travel cot and 1 highchair are available on request (please bring your own linen for the travel cot, as this is not provided)
1 small dog (no larger than a Cocker Spaniel and no less than a year old) is welcome for an additional £40 per booking. For pet rules, please visit our FAQs

Great for a small family gathering & adventure in the Cotswolds.Tranquil stay but mind your head.

Short stay

Beautiful cottage, very well equipped with everything you could need. Had a little issue with the heating but after emailing it was rectified immediately. Would highly recommend and would stay again.

Comfy stay in amazing location!

What a great stay at Lavender cottage, we stayed for 3 nights recently with our toddler at it was so well set up. Great service and location too, just a short (beautiful) walk away from the town centre. It was so cosy and great with a kitchen and courtyard. We would definitely stay again!

Charming cottage

Lavender Cottage is absolutely lovely. It hardly seems real. Amazing location close to great restaurants and the adorable downtown, but quiet and just slightly tucked away. 10/10. We can’t wait to come back!!

Lavender Cottage

A lovely place to stay, very comfortable with all amenities close by. A great place to visit the Cotswolds from and nice to 'chill out' in the evenings in front of the fire. A real 'home from home' Being dog friendly a great bonus too!

We left early

We was meant to stay Friday to Monday and we wasn’t there even 24hrs. First I understood there’s a check in time but 5pm is late. When I emailed to see if we could get in early there was no reply till 4:13. We opened the door to the cottage and the cold hit us straight away (it was warmer inside). You’d like to think the heating would be on prior to guest coming to make it nice and welcoming. There wasn’t a nice clean smell when we walked in like you’d think there would be also. I was so glad we took our own heater and heated blanket just in case, because they came in very handy! We went to bed early just to get warm, I had thermals, jogger suit, heated blanket and the heater on in a tiny room and we didn’t get warm till 1pm! We didn’t get an inch of sleep. The dog wouldn’t settle and stopped eating (he’s been away before so that wasn’t the problem). The next day the weather was horrendous (which isn’t no one’s fault) however we was just sat on the sofa (cold again) and we both looked at each other and said we could be warm at home doing this so we packed up and left. The cleanliness could have been a little better, in the bathroom there was all small black flies all on it and it didn’t have a nice clean smell when you walked in. Also parking, on the site it does say there’s free street parking outside the cottage however be aware there’s hardly any spaces and you’ll be very very lucky to grab one, we waited 30 mins thinking what to do however we was looking to catch someone moving from a space. I can say the cottage is in a perfect location and I will say if it was warm inside and more inviting it would’ve been a different situation. I probably wouldn’t recommend due to our situation which is a shame, but I also didn’t get a reply from my email that I sent about the situation. We missed out on 2 nights of our anniversary vacation but the Cotswolds is lovely and will be visiting the area again.

Great location near all amenities

This little cottage in in a great location in the village and has many pubs and restaurants within a few minutes walk. Because of its location car parking is not easy residents get very protective of their perceived space and put cones and no parking signs outside; in the summer months parking must be even worse. The property is an old cottage and is a little tired; it’s functional but has no finesse. The stairs to the bedrooms are difficult to negotiate and would not be suitable for the less mobile.Overall it’s OK but I wouldn’t go back.

A charming cottage but needs a spruce up

The cottage is in an excellent location but car parking is a challenge. The milk and cake on arrival were a nice touch. Overall this cottage is cluttered and it really could do with a freshen up. Carpets are worn, dusty cobwebs, electric fire doesn't work, 2 bedside lamps in a poor state and only one in the top room. Only 2 water glasses. There were 2 keys in the lockbox but not sure what one was for as no instruction file available. The dried flowers are now looking worn and perhaps better to remove these. No shower gel available. Mismatching duvet covers in the top room. The heating only worked when in timer mode. Cluttered cupboards and behind one of the sofas. A very charming cottage with lots of character but just needs a good spruce up and declutter.

Lovely cosy cottage!

Had a wonderful stay! Although close to the main area it was very very quiet. On some rainy days I sat in and read a book . My favorite was sitting in the kitchen with the half door open listening to the birds and cows. Very comfortable and clean.

But of a shame

This cottage has some quaint character and is in a very central location and that is probably the best thing to say about it. The cottage interior and its contents are tired. Water leaked through the ceiling from the shower and has obviously done so for a long time judging by the state of the plaster. The electrics had either no or dead batteries and exposed wires in cables, which had all been reported previously in the guest book. The crockery was mis matched and chipped, cracked glasses in the cupboard - which at least the previous guests had left out to be sorted but found there way back into the cupboard. The double bed was far from comfortable. The hoover cartridge was so rammed with dirt it wouldn’t pick up when we tried to use it. The information book was full of irrelevant and scribbled on information and yet the information we required was not in it, no spare bin bags and no information on where to dispose of the rubbish. Dishwasher mentioned in the book and tablets in the cupboard but no dishwasher. The ornaments are dated and feel like unwanted leftovers that don’t match anywhere else. Attention also needs to be given to the cleaning, the carpets were dirty and cobwebs across the numerous fake flowers and windows. And lastly no welcome pack as described no milk or cake

Lovely weekend away in February

We had a very pleasant stay at Lavender Cottage. It's a cozy little cottage that has an excellent location right in the heart of the village of Bourton-on-the-Water, which has plenty to do in it. You are in walking distance to everything in town. The cottage is tucked away behind another cottage, so it was a little tricky to find at first, but the check-in instructions are clear. There's a lovely garden, well-equipped kitchen and overall historic vibe to the place. We had plenty of space as a couple staying there (although we didn't spend loads of time in the cottage during the day because we were out exploring) but I could see space being tight if there were two couples sharing. You should park in the town lot, it's a very short/easy walk along the river. Overall, fantastic experience and would re-book. Happy out!

Perfect getaway

This gem of a location was absolutely perfect to enjoy the Cotswolds. Even if you didn’t have a vehicle this is a great place to stay. Lots of walkable areas. Pubs 3 min walk away (our fav was Kingsbridge). Tons of quaint little shops. The cottage is set up for a lovely stay.

Clean, cosy, perfect location

We had a wonderful weekend at lavender cottage. Everything was spotlessly clean on our arrival. The bedrooms were cosy and comfortable. Location is fantastic, just next to the river, quiet and peaceful. I will add if you’re coming with children to be aware the top floor room opens to steep stairs but our 5 year old managed fine! We look forward to staying again in the future.

Wonderful Cottage!

In a very good location, and very cute! Parking could be tricky if you didn’t get lucky, but not a problem on our trip. Definitely on the smaller side, but for a couple of close friends it was really lovely!

Typical beamed ceiling Cotswold cottage

Overall it was very good. Parking was difficult but we were warned about this issue. It is a very small cottage and this is fine if you intend on going out most of the time. Otherwise it is tiny and the stairs are not easy. A good roomy kitchen however. The tv proved a problem until I found out there were no batteries in the remote control. Presumably the previous residents had taken them! What plonkers! We called the helpline and the cleaning lady (and her mother) were so helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

Most Wonderful Cottage!

We recently stayed for three nights at Lavender Cottage in Bourton on the Water. It was absolutely the most quintessential, lovely Cotswold cottage experience we could have asked for! The proximity to town was fabulous - just a few minutes' walk. But the street and cottage were quiet and pleasant, we never felt as though we were "too close" to town or the tourists. The cottage was darling, clean and comfortable - everything we needed for our stay was provided. The mattresses could have been a bit softer - but we found that to be true all over England! Parking was easy, right on the street, and we were able to walk to wonderful shops, restaurants, and tea/coffee places without using the car. We initially wondered which Cotswold village would be best for our visit - and found Bourton to be the perfect central location. We visited Highgrove, Stratford, Althorp, Blenheim Palace, and several other villages while we stayed at Lavender Cottage. Even though we drove a bit farther each day, it was so nice to come home to the same, comfortable, adorable cottage each night. The hosts shared a wonderful guide book with restaurant suggestions, which was very helpful. We are hoping to return some day - and won't hesitate to book this lovely property again.

Fantastic location!

Great location, right in town and still very quiet!! Would definitely recommend. Rooms are very small, and stair case a little precarious... But you are staying in an old cottage which has been made to feel very homely. Would not recommend if stairs could be an issue as we did have a fall during our stay. Fyi cooktop extractor, electric fireplace and cd player were not working.. and more than 2 bowls in kitchen is suggested... But not a big deal and we really enjoyed our stay.

Quaint cottage in need of renovation

The location couldn’t be better. The cottage requires renovating. The cleaning wasn’t cleanliness wasn’t great, particular attention required in the shower room as it was yellow in the corners of the shower. Also, cobwebs everywhere and in need of decorating, also, quite cluttered.
