About rhonda lewis

I'm a lifelong Alaskan, who grew up in Anchorage, always considering Fairbanks, the rival city. However after working in Fairbanks and the villages of interior AK, I fell in love. I love the warm summers & cold winters. I've moved away a couple different times, but always became homesick & had to return. There is something to the mountains that appeals to me. A lot of people come to see Denali, I myself prefer the Wrangell-St Elias range out of Glennallen. I have spent several years working remote area's of AK. I enjoy traveling extensively and meeting new people from all walks of life. I enjoy photography and love car museums. Reading, especially in the winter. I rarely watch tv and have spent years without one. Due to an injury I now work in Anchorage behind a desk instead of in the field, but I spend most of my time off enjoying Fairbanks. I like real & non pretentious people and am blessed to have friends all over the country from all walks of life. I stay here as frequently as possible, but I also wanted a way to earn extra income and allow other people to enjoy Alaska's beauty at a reasonable price.

rhonda lewis purchased this house in 2011

Why rhonda lewis chose Fairbanks

I bought this property, because I liked the somewhat remote out of town location as it's very peaceful. I didn't want to live off the grid though and go back to using an outhouse. I continue to work on remodeling the property. I also like it being on the outer loop of Fairbanks, so it's quick & easy to get on the highway from either direction. Then it's a straight shot north or south depending on what you want to see/do. I like the rugged look and try to keep the place natural, not liking the manicured look. I get frequent animal visitors, mainly moose, fox, rabbit, an occasional bear. The yard blooms with wild roses & fireweed around the edges. I like to have occasional dinner parties here, you can make more noise and have more freedom then you can in an apartment or city setting. Just follow the basic rules of common courtesy and respect for neighbors not on vacation. Neighbors tend to keep to themselves and we generally respect each other's privacy and space.

What makes this house unique

This location gives me serenity, I like to sit in the living room and watch the snowfall. I like the close proximity to the bike path and the Double Eagle restaurant. I like the flexibility of my property to make changes, without having to get approval from an HOA, etc. I like it being close to the roadway without being right on the road. I enjoy being surrounded by trees, and the quietness, compared to living in the city.

Cozy & inviting & very clean

  • 4 of 5

The furniture and bedding is very comfortable & clean. The owner supplies a lot of extra amenities, plus a large movie selection. Nice location outside of town, but easy to get anywhere from the highway. Straight shot to North Pole to Santa Claus house & the ice sculptures. Moody Brews was a great find in North Pole. Great barbecue! Fountain head car museum is a must for any car buff with period clothing.

Well stocked kitchen with a great coffee maker. Would have rated it a 5 but the owner hasn't finished the kitchen remodel yet. I look forward to staying this summer once that is complete.

Place was very clean, host super helpful. Easy access to surrounding activities.

  • 5 of 5

The place was easy to get to. All of the ammeneties worked great. The owner, Rhonda, was awesome in providing lots of info before we got there as well as super responsive to any questions I had. The instructions left were very easy to follow. The place was very comfy and felt like a home away from home. Very clean, quiet location. It was easy to get into down town, stores were close.

Wonderful Home and Comfortable Stay

  • 5 of 5

Rhonda maintains her home very well and it was very comfortable. Everything was clean and well-kept and there were plenty of dishes so cooking and eating in were very easy. It's very quiet and even though the main road is not far away you could not hear the traffic. The driveway is a little rustic but they were quick to fill it in so it was an easy in-and-out and of course having the garage for my rental car was perfect. I will definitely be back again and again
