About The Owner

We are a semi-retired couple with three grown children and one grandson, age 16. We love the beach, the ability to visit other islands when we wish, and we simply adore the island people. Harley is an avid fly fisherman and was thrilled to discover bonefishing. We've also been blessed to meet many new treasured friends in St. Thomas.

The Owner purchased this villa in 2006

Why The Owner chose Estate Caret Bay

We started visiting friends who own a St. Thomas home about 10 years ago and we simply fell in love with the islands. After our yearly trips, we finally decided once a year just wasn't enough and we were ever so fortunate to find our beautiful small villa when we decided to buy our own piece of paradise. It's one of our favorite places on earth!

What makes this villa unique

We love staying in the villa. It is very conveniently located for getting around the island and it's also very private. We think it is lovely just to stay in if we don't feel like going out for the day or eating out - and of course, it is much more economical than staying in a hotel.

We never tire of taking in the gorgeous vistas both day and night; swimming in the private pool, and relaxing together alone or with friends in the beautiful sunshine with the soft trade winds blowing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We really enjoyed our time at Whale Watch Villa. Your home is so very comfortable and I can't imagine a nice place to spend 5 weeks. The views are gorgeous and there are great shops and restaurants so close by. Thanks again!

St Thomas, for now

35 days of paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent 35 wonderful days at Whale Watch while house-hunting on St Thomas. The villa was so comfortable, peaceful, quite and decorated beautifully. Though our stay was in the heart of summer, the fresh breeze kept the villa nice and cool. Even during the day, we rarely needed the A/C. We have two young girls that, like us, absolutely loved the villa. Our three year old actually learned to swim in the pool. We hated to have to leave.

Owner's Response: We were thrilled to host the "Coastie Movers" at Whale Watch and are so pleased that they loved it as much as we do! The villa is the perfect temporary place to stay for any couple or small family relocating to St. Thomas. Thanks for choosing Whale Watch, M& were wonderful guests! Best of luck to you as you settle into your new island home! Kristin & Harley

Lovely vacation

  • 5 of 5

A very relaxing and enjoyable vacation on Whalewatch villa. The villa is lovely with gorgeous views of the water and islands. The villa is equipped with everything you want and very pretty! Unfortunately, the week was pretty rainy with only a couple of days of sun, but we found things to do and did not let it put a damper on our vacation.

Fabulous views at Whalewatch Villa!!

  • 4 of 5

This property was very nice. The view is absolutely amazing! You can see the islands in the distance, see and hear the waves below you, and the sky is magnificent. Best view I have ever had while staying somewhere. It is rather difficult to get to, but I imagine all the properties that are up high are rather difficult to get to. It takes 20-30 minutes to get anywhere. The actual condo was very neat, clean, and had everything that we wanted. Electricity goes out periodically, but comes back on within an hour. Showers are somewhat limited because they use cisterns to catch rainwater for their water supply. Only one double bed for one of the bedrooms, instead of two beds (we have two teens). Can sleep on sofa downstairs that is large and comfortable. Pool was nice, but cold right now in March. Loved the cat that visited us everyday.

St. Thomas delight!

  • 5 of 5

'Whale Watch' villa was truly a delight. The views were awesome, the private pool refreshing, interiors comfortable and stylish. In fact, the sectional sofa was the most comfortable I've ever sat upon. The only negative was poor TV reception and an inoperable DVD player, but TV isn't why we go to the Caribbean. There was plenty to do on the island of St. Thomas and this location on the lush, beautiful north coast was ideal with short drives to points of interest for us. We loved the well-equipped kitchen. Breakfast and most lunches were prepared in house, with dinner the treat out in the local restaurants. Try 'Thirteen', not too far away - excellent! There are several stairs to negotiate between the parking area and villa, then more inside due to it being a split-level entry. Not a problem for us, but might be for those with compromised mobility. Otherwise, the layout is perfect for privacy and convenience. We loved the many pieces of distinctly island art gracing the shelves and walls. All in all, a great place for a Caribbean vacation. We would recommend it to anyone.

Breathtaking views in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

The views from this house located on a quieter part of St. Thomas were amazing every day. We also loved watching the pelicans in the morning from above catching their breakfast. We did have a quiet beach we could walk to. It was a short walk but a somewhat steep hill so anyone with mobility limitations may have difficulty with it. The location was also perfect to easily get to all different parts of the island (you need a 4WD vehicle for here and most of St. Thomas) which we did every day.

The house was well equipped with everything we needed. And the property manager was exceedingly helpful and generous with her tips for exploring the island. We highly recommend this property!

Beyond our expectations

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time here and would definitely stay again if we return to St. Thomas. The pictures of the villa don't do it justice. The views are incredible and everything was clean and well maintained. We traveled with another couple and really enjoyed being away from the busy tourist areas. You will definitely want to have a car but this location is close to some of the most beautiful beaches and there are several good restaurants in the area. Beds were comfortable and tons of windows and patio doors let in the ocean breezes and sounds of waves crashing. We never turned on the television but we did use the wi-fi which was nice to have because our cell phone provider (Verizon) didn't seem to have a presence on the island. Overall we had a fantastic vacation and were very glad we chose this property.
