The Mermaid Den is a second story condo unit in Fernandina Beach which can accommodate six guests. It has three bedrooms (1 king bed, 1 queen, 1 bunk), two bathrooms, den and dining combo area, fully equipped kitchen, washer & dryer and a large balcony. This very comfortable property is colorful, cheerful, and charming featuring original art, cleanliness and tidiness. It has a TV in each bedroom, a small movie library, a supply of board games, and a rotating paperback library. It is surrounded by lush green grass and shaded by large, twisting oak trees dripping in Spanish Moss. It is tucked into private and quiet surroundings, yet close to everything you want to do. There's little that's more than a walk or bike ride away. You can enjoy the pool or tennis courts at your leisure. There is also greenspace with grills as well as a shaded playground for the tikes. The unit has an assigned parking space for one car, but there are visitor parking spaces as well. Further, this desirable neighborhood is the only one in its area which offers short term condo rentals. Otherwise, the options are hotels or condos requiring a long walk/short drive to the beach.

Although The Mermaid Den is not located beachfront, just make a 200 yard walk across the road and your toes will be in the sand. Locals and visitors alike take excellent care of the beaches to preserve them and protect their indigenous natural wild and plant life.

Amelia Island features a wide array of tourist attractions such as uncrowded beaches, historic buildings, fine restaurants, boutiques, galleries, and many diverse recreational activities such as top rated golf courses, tennis, beachcombing, sailing, jet skiing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, miniature golf, volleyball, horseback riding, surfing, biking, and more. History buffs will appreciate Fort Clinch and downtown, or perhaps choose a day trip to Cumberland Island or St. Augustine.

The streets of downtown Fernandina are filled with art, crafts, antiques, live music, children's activities and lots of delicious local seafood. It is also home to the Pirate Society. A 50 block area of Downtown Fernandina Beach is listed on the National Register of Historic Places because of its amazing preservation of late Victorian architecture with its many mansions and cottages.

Come and enjoy our little corner of paradise on Amelia Island, easily reached by car or plane. Amelia Island airstrip or the Jacksonville airport is just minutes away. Interstate 95 is only 15 minutes away. Spectacular sunrises, beautiful beaches, and plenty to do are why everyone returns to this pristine location.

Centrally located: walking or bicycle distance from all the good spots. Comfy and charming. Filled with original art which makes any place better. Fully stocked with necessities. Large balcony. Beautiful pool. And the trees! The giant, beautiful, old, twisted trees mixed with the sound of the waves and the smell of the sea are the best combination possible!

Owner's Response: Thank you for bringing the washing machine and drain to my attention. There's a new washer in the unit and the drain system has been flushed.

Wonderful time

We really enjoyed our stay at the mermaid den. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable, and the condo was great for our needs. Stacy was very quick to respond to any needs that we had.

Very nice location, short walk to the beach, DQ or Slider's. Condo was very clean, comfortable, nicely decorated with beach décor and tastefully done. Stacey was very accessible and took care of any concerns we had in a timely and professional manner. If you are looking to rent a condo not on the beach, The Mermaid's Den would be a very good choice. Thanks for everything Stacey!

Exceeded my expectations! Wonderful experience.

We had planned this trip for months. It was to celebrate the 87th birthday of our mom who lives in Fernandina Beach. As we are a family spread up and down the eastern seaboard, we looked forward to being close to the beach. This condo did not disappoint. The condo is attractively decorated- beachy without being obnoxious, very clean, comfy and had a nice homey feel. And most importantly- the beds are comfortable! No morning backache. The owner, Stacey, was great to deal with. Responsive, friendly, accessible, and responsible. I would rent this place again if the occasion arises! There are many small touches that you don't often see in other places. I appreciated the book that Stacey put together- things from the local person's view. (Paraphrasing). I have used VRBO several times prior but this was the best by far! Highly recommend this property! Thanks Stacey!
