The property suited our needs - we were travelling as a family and needed 2 bedrooms which this had. The location was great - just around the corner from the Grand Canal and Rialto markets and bridge. There were several shops, bars and restaurants very close by and the area was in general quite quiet. The property was basic but very clean - the kitchen was very well equipped. The check in process was quite confusing as there were a number of different parties involved and they didn’’t get in touch until late on the day before our arrival - once we got there though, and knew who to contact, the check in itself was easy. We did have a problem with the air con which was working when we first arrived but later that evening had broken down and this wasn’t resolved during our stay which made for hot uncomfortable nights.

It’s a good thing I am a general contractor because I was able to fix, rather rig, the air conditioning unit. They did not install a drain line so it was backing up and not working. It was a hot September and I had to put a bucket underneath it so it would work. The location is in Venice, but difficult to find. Eventually we got the hang of it. MW did not work, and there was no toaster. The water pressure was low in the shower, but I guess it is expected in such old buildings.
The owner and the person who met us were very friendly and communication was good.

Check-In hassle
The apartment itself was fine, near the central station with fiber internet. The main issue with the apartment was the check - in process where I started getting requests about what my exact arrival time to the apartment would be weeks in advance. Since we were driving, I was only able to provide a 2-3 hour window, informing the check in agent that I would be more specific once we hit the road on day of arrival and see what traffic is like. She informed me that she has many other apartments to check in and wouldn't sit around for hours waiting for me (which I never asked for or expected) and that unless I told her an exact time of arrival days in advance we would have to wait several hours for her to let us in.
In all the years of traveling, I have never had such a hostile encounter before arriving. I called VRBO and finally got in touch with the property management company which is based in the UK. We ended up getting a different check-in agent (Bepi) who was great.
Be aware that tourist tax is due in cash at check-in. If you don't have cash (or exact change) they are happy to provide you with the ability to pay by credit card, although they wanted a 22% credit card processing fee. In other Italian apartments I've stayed, the hosts were happy to have me leave cash for tourist tax upon departure.
Overall this was a let down, especially when other apartments we stayed in across Europe had local owners/hosts greet us warmly.
Thank you for the awesome review, Tanja! We work hard to meet expectations like yours, and we are happy to hear we hit the mark for you. Come back and see us soon. Cheers!
