Villa Romantica, a spacious, bright, airy, colonial-era peaceful home in bustling historic Merida Centro. The Space
The entire home is yours during your stay.
What unfolds before you is truly a colonial masterpiece. Complete with high arches that envelop a stunning central courtyard which you may never want to leave. At the heart of the courtyard is the beautiful pool which is irresistible on a warm tropical day.

The line between indoors and outdoors is blurred in this spectacularly designed home. This home is a creation of renowned local architect Henry Ponce and features an indoor/outdoor kitchen and dining room as well as a spacious indoor/outdoor living room that surrounds the courtyard and pool.

On the ground floor there are two spacious air conditioned bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom for your privacy and comfort. Each bedroom has a four poster KING sized bed. Also on the ground floor is a formal living room where you can watch Netflix TV in air conditioned comfort.

Leading from the indoor/outdoor living room is the grand staircase which is itself a work of art. At the top of the staircase is the master suite which overlooks the courtyard. This air-conditioned bedroom has 2 queen sized beds and has it's own private bathroom with a beautiful atrium. Also on the upper level is a huge rooftop deck with a view of the city. Ideal place for your morning coffee or getting some more sun.

When night falls you will be faced with a tough decision. Do you go up the stairs and enjoy the starry night sky and listen to the sounds of the city including the clip clop, clippity clop of horse drawn carriages? Or maybe simply relax on the day bed besides the pool next to the downstairs courtyard and enjoy the incredible ambiance created by the lighting and fountains in the pool. Lounging in the two hammocks over the pool means the pool is just below and the stars are way above. A perfect relaxation spot!
We provide unlimited music selection with Alexa so if you're in the mood for some music, simply ask Alexa to play your favourite songs.

Guest access

Before your arrival to Villa Romantica, you will be asked to confirm your anticipated time of arrival.

We will send you detailed check-in instructions and you can check-in at any time after 4 pm using our lock box. Our property manager is just a phone call away if needed.

It is our intention that you have a fabulous experience; that Villa Romantica is a place of relaxation and joy for you and that Merida and the Yucatan be a source of adventure and wonder. You will have access to PM23 (Property Manager) throughout your stay should you need a helping hand or someone to point you in a particular direction.

Interaction with guests

Property managers will be at your service at any time.

Other things to note

Electricity is not included. The property manager will take a photo of the electric meter upon arrival and another photo at check-out. For a more accurate reading, when you check in take a photo of the electric meter and send the photo via message.
The cost of electricity can be paid in pesos in cash or payment request through VRBO. The cost is 3.50 pesos per kilowatt-hours (kWh).
Kids must be supervised around the pool and roof top deck at all times.
One complimentary house cleaning is provided for a stay of one week.
For stays longer than one week, we offer complimentary cleaning every 4-5 days.
We can also arrange extra housekeeping for an extra fee.
Some basics such as juice, coffee, sugar, milk are provided to start you off.
If you would like any extra items, please let us know so that we can arrange for you.
Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Lotion are provided in each bathroom.
The pool is cleaned weekly on Thursdays.
Netflix is available and signed in on the TV.
Alexa is available to play your favourite tunes and check weather or get jokes :-)

The neighborhood

You won't find a better more convenient location than Villa Romantica. It is ideally located in the Historical Centre of Mérida. Should you be able to tear yourself away from your private retreat, you'll find the best that Merida has to offer just steps away. Santa Lucia Park with some of the best restaurants is just a five minute walk .
Paseo De Montejo, the wide boulevard lined by mansions built in the 19th century is only a three minute walk. From here, you can take a tour of Paseo on a horse and carriage.
The Plaza Grande, the heart of Merida culture and architecture is less than a ten minute walk. It is the home of the impressive, large and beautiful Catedral de San Ildefonso.

Getting around

Taxis are safe, Uber is very affordable and currently operates in Merida and is very reliable. A public bus stops on the nearest corner. Ask the property manager what bus to take to where. Most popular on-line street map apps such as google are also very reliable.
Street parking is available and depending on the time of day may get a spot directly in front of the house. There is also a paid parking lot a block away.
