Lakefront Getaway in Michigan

Come and enjoy this relaxing, open-concept, Michigan lakefront 'home away from home.' Located in the middle of Michigan near Clare. You and your family can't help but have a great time with 93 feet of lake frontage with a sandy bottom for swimming. The cottage has 1500 square feet, with 3 bedrooms and one large bathroom on the main floor and a half bath upstairs. We have recently added air conditioning for main living space and upper level master bedroom.

Activities include swimming, boating, biking and fishing for bass, bluegill, crappie and pike.

Amenities include a picnic table and outdoor furniture, gas barbecue and smoker, 4-person paddleboat, 2 kayaks, aluminum dock, swim platform and firepit. A free public boat launch is available to launch your boat, pontoon or jetski.

Lake George is a 134 acre all-sports lake. There is no wake from 7:30pm-11am. This allows for both high energy boating, and quiet-time for fishing or relaxing by the bonfire.

PLEASE NOTE: Water is 2-3 feet deep at seawall with gradual drop off. Depth at swim platform is around 5-7 feet. Renter will be responsible for supplying their own bathroom, bedroom (sheets and pillow cases) and kitchen linens. Renter to provide their own paper products (paper towel and toilet paper). We rent FRIDAY to FRIDAY. Check in time is 3pm and check out time is 1pm.

We had an amazing trip making memories with family. Every year my family of five and my Mom and Dad vacation together for a week to make memories. My youngest son seven years old caught probably a hundred fish over the week. My children loved swimming, boating, and jumping off the dock. This is a vacation spot that we will for sure come back to again. Hearing the loons every morning and night was incredible. We also saw a bald eagle dive in the water and grab a fish and flew over our heads. Such a cool experience. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin.

We had a great family vacation at this property with 2 adults and 3 teenagers. Great location on the lake with lots of frontage and a sandy bottom. Home had everything we needed and was well taken care of. We would definitely rent here again.

Great vacation spot

We had a great week, and really enjoyed being on the water, swimming, kayaking and fishing were all right outside the sliding doors. We had an amazing time!

A wonderful relaxing week

Our family/extended family had a wonderful week at the cottage. 4 adults, 3 kids and 1 teen. The cottage was very comfortable, we had plenty of room and didn’t feel on top of one another. The kitchen is beautiful, and perfect to cook in. It’s stocked with everything you could need. The view of the lake is stunning and peaceful. It was perfect for swimming/floating and fishing. Our kiddos fished for the first time and fell in love. We ended up going to buy all 3 their own poles. The location itself is more rural than we expected/are used to, but was also nice to just disconnect for a while. We made a few day trips 2ish hours to Crystal River (Glen Arbor) to kayak, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, we also went boating on Torch Lake. The cottage is well stocked, perfect location on the lake. Dean and Melissa are wonderful hosts, and very responsive before, during and after our stay. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home away from home with us. We will cherish all the memories we made.

Perfect getaway

We had a great week at Dean’s place! The cottage was well appointed and they were quick to address any questions or concerns we may have had! Beds were comfortable the water was hot and there weather was perfect! The owners rely on renters to clean up after themselves so do your part and leave it the way you found it. We even dusted and broomed off the exterior a bit. We fished enjoyed day trips, fishing off the dock and the fire. We saw eagles and loons right from the back yard! The cottage is on a small residential lake so do bring what you need ahead of arriving as the closest grocery is about 30mins away . Thanks for a great stay!

Great rental

This was our first time at Lake George and this rental. It was great!!! The kids had a fabulous time and barely played on their tablets. The pictures make the rental look larger than it is but we all had more than enough room with the actual size. Overall it was best place we stayed at in a while. We would be happy to rent this house again.

2022 Lake George Vacation

This Lake George cottage was very nice. It was decorated very cute. It was clean and offered many conveniences. Loved having a dishwasher as well as a washer and dryer. The beds were adequate and comfortable for most. Hey cannot please everyone. We were able to dock two boats but the fishing was slow. Caught several species but all were undersized. It was too bad that 2 days before we arrived they tried to kill the weeds in the lake. I am sure the owner had no control over this. One downside was that we needed to park a half of block a way from the cottage. Oh well we got some exercise. One suggestion I might have for the owner would be to pay a local person to put the garbage at the road. The garbage cans were so close to the road, we didn’t move them on the road. Therefore the garbage was not picked up. Not serious but if a local did it there would not have been any confusion. We may not rent this property again, only because we like to fish and the lake just wasn’t big enough.

it was very relaxing and felt very private as we had only neighbors on one side whom were super nice. our only complaint was finding out that we had to tote our linens for beds and towels etc finding sheets to fit all the different sized beds at the last minute was a little frustrating but none the less we worked it out. only other thing was beware if you are a taller bigger individual the toilet in main bathroom is very small and sits really low! overall we had a wonderful stay caught lots of fish and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets/ we would love to come back again! thanks for sharing your beautiful cottage with us!

Perfect lakehouse for a week of fishing and swimming with the family

This property was perfect for our 2021 family vacation. The water was surprisingly warm and the sand bottom lake allowed my kids to spend hours comfortably swimming. The fishing was excellent as we caught decent sized pike, bass, crappie, and bluegill right off the dock. We also spent a lot of time exploring Lake George using the rowboat, kayaks and paddleboat that were kept at the cottage. The large TV in the living room allowed us to relax and enjoy family movie nights just like we would at home. My 4 year old daughter insisted she likes Lake George better than the ocean, so I am sure we will be back at some point.

The cabin and lake frontage are beautiful.

The property is lovely and the cottage is warm and welcoming. We had everything we needed and more and the owners gave us helpful, specific notes. The fishing is great on this lake.

A wonderful week on the lake!

This property is beautiful! Our family of 4 spent everyday swimming, kayaking and relaxing in warm Lake George. The cottage is super clean and beautifully decorated with everything you would need for your vacation. Gorgeous kitchen! Our daughters (10&11) loved the loft and the huge board game selection. The beds are comfortable.....we all slept great! There is no cell service, but they have wifi. Their neighbors were friendly, without being intrusive. Great communication with the hosts, who are more than gracious and hospitable. Our family would stay again in a heartbeat!

My kids loved it!

We had a great week! The house comes with fishing poles, 2 kayaks, a row boat, and a paddle boat. My kids (ages 11, 7, 4) kept themselves occupied all week. The house was spotless clean. It’s somewhat far from town so make sure to bring what food you can from home. There is a Dollar General in town, along with a few other gas station type stores. For major grocery shopping, you’ll have to go 20 minutes away.

Wonderful!

My family spent a week at the cottage and we all loved it! The lake water was like bath water! It was so warm! We loved paddle boating during the no wake hours. The kitchen was perfect for making meals and eating together. There is no cell service or internet. We were "off the grid" for one whole week. The cottage was clean. the area was quiet. Overall, it was a GREAT time!

PERFECT SERENE GETAWAY!

We stayed at the lake house for a week mid July and had the most perfect weather. Kept local for the most part but did a day trip to Mackinaw island midweek. The lake is beautifully maintained. No weeds, warm water temp and no wake periods in late evening and early morning allowed time for power boats and other non-motorized enjoyment too. Good family time fishing, playing games, kayaking and swimming we had by all. It was nice to "unplug" for the week, as cellular service is basically nonexistent at the property and our 2 teenagers managed just fine with very little whining. :)

Perfect Family Vacation Spot

First let me say that Dean and Melissa made planning our rental a breeze. So organized and we knew just what to expect when we got there. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and it was lovely. Plenty of kitchen seating. Our family included three generations. The grandkids played in the water all day. It's sandy and they could jump off the raft and dock. We had fires every night, we put together puzzles when it rained and took bike rides into town. There are golf courses nearby and the little ones enjoyed fishing with Grandpa. The older kids took their jeep to a local off road track. Thanks Dean and Melissa, we had a great summer vacation!

Great getaway!

My sister and I rented this cottage with our families and it was a perfect getaway. The kids loved the warm lake with the boats and floating dock, and we loved the big modern kitchen that made it easy to cook and serve large meals. Every night we enjoyed a campfire and s'mores. The owners were very accommodating and quick to answer emails and questions. We loved this place and highly recommend it!

Great Family Vacation!!!!

Our family usually tries to vacation at different cottages on different lakes each year. This is the first year we stayed here on Lake George and we ALL want to come back next year!! The cottage is spacious and clean. The kitchen is fully stocked. The bathroom is updated, large and clean. The washer and dryer are newer and very convenient. The bedrooms are roomy and the beds are comfortable. The large back porch is great for storage and fun!! The lake is great for water recreation and for fishing. The cabin is close to the water and the breeze is refreshing! (great sleeping conditions!) We have gone up north for 30 plus years and it is very rare that we go to the same place twice but this cottage has everything we love! We brought our speed boat and our fishing boat and the dock was perfect. Plenty of space to sit and fish too!! We had family members with us ranging in age from 4 through 75 and it was perfect for all! The cottage is close enough to Mt Pleasant and Claire to run out to the store or the casino but not so close that you feel like you haven't left the city. Dean and Melissa have done a great job with updates and maintenance to ensure a great experience for their renters. There are plenty of chairs and lake toys at the cabin that are available for renters use so you don't have to bring your own. The weather was too hot for a bonfire but the pit is right there and the view of the lake is spectacular! This is a great cottage at a great value. The only problem was that the time flew by so fast! Thank you Dean and Melissa for a wonderful family vacation! See you next year!!!!

what a great quiet place to vacation.. everything was just as the owners said it would be.. close to a lot of places but far enough away to feel like the outdoors... highly recommend it!!!!

Vacation

We had a really nice vacation on Lake George. Home was very clean, the view of the lake was awesome, and the homeowners followed through before, during, and after our stay just to make sure everything was fine. Very nice touch. We hope to stay there again next summer as well.

Definitely a home away from home! Beautiful, clean, spacious cottage on a beautiful lake! Everything you could need or want. Love sitting by the firepit in the evenings. Had a blast fishing from dock. Such a relaxing week.
