About Elizabeth Kilpatrick

Steve and Elizabeth built Manini Point House in 2005 because "We love the Big Island and wanted to build a home where couples and families can relax and enjoy precious moments together and know that they are in paradise. Our extended family often visits us in Hawaii and they look forward to their stay at Manini Point House. We live on Konacopia Farm about 10 minutes away, and are happy to take our Manini Point House guests on a tour of this special Organic Farm.

Elizabeth Kilpatrick purchased this house in 2005

Why Elizabeth Kilpatrick chose Kona Coast

Manini Point House is just 200' from lovely Manini Beach at Kealakekua Bay. K Bay and the surrounding area is a Hawaiian treasure. Manini Point House is located in a little village community and the neighborhood gives you an opportunity to visit with friendly local people as well as folks visiting from around the world. Learn about the Hawaiian culture while visiting historical sites including Puuhonua O Honaunau, Hawaii's national park, just 4 miles away. If you are looking for an alternative to a generic resort for your holiday, Manini Point House offers the opportunity for an authentic Hawaiian experience in a beautiful part of the Big Island. In K Bay, you will be snorkeling and swimming with reef fish, dolphins, and seasonal whales. Take a kayak tour across K Bay to Captain Cook monument to swim with dolphins. Manini Beach is a relaxing, very special place to spend quality time alone, or with family and friends. Manini Point House at K Bay is a place you will enjoy and remember, and know that you made the right choice.

What makes this house unique

This open, beautiful home has a large gourmet kitchen and lanai so families can cook, eat and relax together. Everyone will want to sit down to a meal on the lanai. The outside and inside join together. Enjoy the Bali Hut for a few contemplative moments and the outdoor shower after a day at the beach. Care for a game of pingpong?

A Real Treat in Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We are frequent visitors to the Big Island and we always try to stay at this gorgeous home with 360 degree panoramic views of the mountains and the ocean! We love waking up each morning to the sunrise, the songs of the birds, the tropical breezes, and the sounds of local neighborhood activity. We especially enjoy spending time on the lanai - morning, day or night! - kayaking and paddle boarding out on Kealakekua Bay, and walking down to Manini Beach nearby to swim, snorkel, and/or read in the serene little park. This home is a great place to retreat to get some real R&R.

This place is heaven on Earth

The worst part of this beautiful vacation home was having to leave. The location is perfect for a beachy get away, the home itself is beautiful and comfortable (Thank God the beach was so gorgeous and close by otherwise I'm not sure we would have left the big beautiful front porch). The hosts were so thoughtful and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. I can't wait to get back here and highly recommend this home.

House was built as a rental property and has 4 showers 3 bed and bathrooms a nice large kitchen and hardwood floors other than that please see below

Property photos are deceiving and we're taken from neighbors property when landscaping was manicured low. The postage stamp size property photos were taken from vantage points to create the illusion of privacy. Please know privacy is not possible at this property.

WARNING!!!

NO AC in this house which leads to limited air flow so it is very uncomfortable at times between 10am and 10pm

Neighbors are friendly if engaged correctly but openly dislike the owners and are initially very leary of their guests they are also very concerned about trespassing due to previous bad experiences with guests.

Neighbors are 3rd generation locals and the vista from the house to the neighbors property is EXTREMELY unsightly with several tarp coverings used for outdoor living space also lots of dogs and cats with regular outdoor living, music and family activity starting at 9am until 10pm daily.

If the property was as it seems in the pictures it would be very nice with AC and or significant fans being installed and water views but as it is this is not a property I would stay at again.

Owner's Response: The Big Island of Hawaii has temperatures in the 80's. Manini Point House' guests enjoy a lovely ocean breeze and fans in every room in this well-insulated home. There are many windows to enjoy the ocean breeze. Manini Point House is just a 2 minute walk from K Bay and Manini Beach, one of the loveliest places on the Hawaiian Islands, where it is so convenient to take a swim or just to relax and enjoy the peaceful setting and the view of the monument. Between our neighborhood properties, we have a bamboo fence and flowers and this home is quite private. It is a caring safe neighborhood. Mr MJBats's enjoyed Manini Point House but his problem is that he doesn't appreciate Hawaiians or Hawaii. It is his loss. Mr MJBats has a bad personal review from a previous host but, unfortunately, I did not see that review before renting our home to him. I will be more careful next time. Mr MJBats and his friends stayed 5 nights with no complaints before departing, and then he tried coercion to create a "win-win" situation for himself but he was unsuccessful. We welcome suggestions from all of our guests' in order to make this home even more beautiful and comfortable for your stay in paradise.

Beautiful property, beautiful location.

We loved staying at the Manini Point house! The Kealakekua Bay is one of the nicest places on the island to kayak, stand-up paddle, and snorkle. Just walk a couple of very short blocks to the Manini Beach Park and wade in to find some of the best snorkeling anywhere on the Island. You can rent the kayaks and paddle across the bay to Captain Cook monument to snorkel with all the tour groups, but why bother - it's better right off the beach. Kayak in the early morning and swim with the spinner dolphins before they bed down for the day (we were there in October, and they were too).

The house itself is top notch. Beautifully appointed. Everything you could want in the kitchen. Gas grill on the Lanai. A lovely gift basket awaited us when we arrived with beautiful tree-ripened local fruit and a full pound of 100% kona coffee - what a treat! There were 5 of us in the 3 bedrooms and we had plenty of room and privacy. I don't think you could do better than this house and this location on the Kona side of the Big Island.

great place

  • 5 of 5

This is a truly beautiful house in a great location. Very near a small beach area with decent snorkeling, it's only a 4 mile drive to Two-Step, at the Place of Refuge, which is a truly astounding place to snorkel. It also is very conveniently located by a kayak rental place with which one can kayak to the Captain Cook Monument, another excellent place to snorkel. The house has 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, a large lanai, and beautiful wood floors. The kitchen is very well equipped and the lanai is a very relaxing place. Having a barbecue is another nice touch.

Best vacation house in Manini Beach!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed this ideally located house for a week. We enjoyed watching the geckos and relaxing on the lanai listening to the rain. We swam, snorkeled, and kayaked in Kealakekua Bay, visited other nearby beaches, and were invited for a wonderful tour of Elizabeth's and Steve's Konacopia Farm. Our generous hosts were the greatest guides and shared many of their favorite place to visit. We can't wait to return!
