Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Kealakekua Bay (which means Pathway to the Gods) has one of the Big Island's most spectacular coral reefs. Because it is a Marine Life Sanctuary, the fish are plentiful and swarm over the well developed reef that slopes from the shores into the ocean. Spinner dolphins, Manta Rays, and Green Sea turtles are commonly seen resting in the Bay. Humpback Whales visit in the winter season from January to March. The reefs make this area an underwater showcase, so come enjoy a swim or snorkel, and dive into some of the worlds most pristine waters, all well within walking distance from the house. Often there is an opportunity to swim with the plentiful spinner dolphins, right in the bay.

Enjoy the peacefulness, beauty, and spirit of old Hawaii when you visit this vacation rental home at Kealakekua Bay. Get away from the crowds and traffic in Kailua-Kona town.

This well equipped home has everything needed for a comfortable stay from a week or two to a month or more. Fully furnished, 2 bedroom with 1 1/2 baths, fruit trees and garden, and cooking utensils, and laundry facility. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the tranquility of old Hawaii. Call Kay for reservations or information and when you leave a message, please also give your time zone and best time to call. With our low rates, you can enjoy more activities and still have a great place to stay. Local fruits provided when in season. Bonus: Upon your arrival, you are provided a supply of Kona Coffee, Juice, Milk, Bread, Jams, Eggs, and some local snacks.

Just what we were looking for

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a quiet place, away from the main touristy areas. Kay was there to welcome us, and we had everything we needed.

Well-appointed apartment with great location.

  • 5 of 5

Roomy two-bedroom, 1.25 bath apartment. Well equipped for cooking. FANTASTIC location - walking distance to kayaking, snorkeling and parks. A pod of dolphins frequents the nearby bay. Beach access is there but it is rocky, not sand if that is your thing. The owner, Kay is a gracious woman who loves her property and loves to share the fresh fruit she grows, including mangoes, papayas, limes and cherimoya. Would definitely visit again!

Fun local experience

  • 5 of 5

Kay's vacation rental is ideal for non-fussy renters who want a quiet local experience. The apartment is plenty spacious, airy and bright. It's a typical local place, simple and useful, everything you need and nothing you don't with a useful kitchen. Close to beautiful Kealakekua Bay and Honaunau, it invites to slow down a bit and smell the frangipanis. All was clean, plentiful and comfortable. Kay is friendly and available. Aloha!

The house is nice, tidy, and very close to the water. We appreciated the gated parking area as well.

Kay was an excellent host. She made our stay very comfortable and made us feel at home.

Very large compared to the photos. I would recommend updating the pictures of the overall apartment. Has two bedrooms, large living and connected kitchen area, also two bathrooms. The kitchen was loaded with glasses, plates, pans and and other kitchenware.

The things that needed improvement:

the WiFi did not connect at all for our cellphones.

The TV we didn't bother to even use so I can't comment on that.

Overall a great stay and location. Very close to the beach!!

Kay, So nice to meet you, and thanks for everything!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, the property is less than 500 feet from the ocean, the map is a little off. People actually parks in front of the house(on the other side of the street) to go to the beach!

The place is pretty easy to find, and the flat on top floor is very spacious. Lots of fruit trees around the house. Wish we did buy any star fruits at the farmer's market after we landed, turn out Kay's star fruits are bigger and sweeter! Thanks again for the home made spaghetti diner and fresh Mango! And thanks for the bread, milk and eggs.

The location of this place is great - walk down the street to ocean, and you can rent a kayak from Bay Side Adventure to visit Captain Cook's Monument. If you are lucky, you will see spinner dolphin on the way. If not, you are still guaranteed to the best snorkeling spot of the whole Hawaii! Four miles down the road further south, it's the famous City of Refuge(a National park), and two steps.

The area can get pretty hot during the day. There is an air conditioning unit in one bed room. But we didn't use it with all the windows open.

Oh, thanks for the cookies, they are incredible.
