I grew up on the ocean in the Boston area and have always loved being either on a boat or near a beach. We live inland now, but the beach and ocean (and now golf) have become very important to us. We have three sons who are in their 30's, and the time seemed right to start looking for a vacation property in a warmer climate. So in 2005, my husband and I started looking for a resort area that offered golf and a beautiful beach, but weren't sure we really wanted to buy at that point. We looked at several areas on the eastern coastline, but when we arrived at Kiawah, that was it! We didn't want a built up area but were looking for one with natural beauty and environment. This location and climate now give us the wonderful opportunity to get our family together for vacations, and our villa, all updated, has plenty of room for everyone!
Melinda purchased this Villa in 2005
Why Melinda chose West Beach Village
My husband and I were looking for a resort area that offered golf and a beautiful beach, but weren't sure we really wanted to buy at that point. We looked at several areas on the eastern coastline, but when we arrived at Kiawah, that was it! Kiawah is a different place, i.e. natural beauty, not 'built up', unbelievably beautiful beach (and not crowded), just very special. The island also offers many options for golfing (5 golf courses), beautiful homes, 35 miles of bike paths AND riding on the beach (another of my favorites), all solidified our thoughts of purchasing here! It was the right decision-a very special and beautiful island! AND NOW WE HAVE THE NEW POOL COMPLEX IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD!
What makes this Villa unique
When we entered this villa, our interest level soared! The natural light, the inverted floor plan (with the bedrooms on the first floor and living areas on the second floor) which allows you to be on the second level and looking down on the fairway - at the golfers hitting into the green), the close proximity to the beach (a requirement for me!), the clean and large living areas, all of these opened our eyes to the fact that maybe this was the right place. The island also offers many options for golfing (5 golf courses), beautiful homes, 35 miles of bike paths AND riding on the beach (another of my favorites), all solidified our thoughts of purchasing here!

We stayed here while attending a wedding for a family friend. The location was close to restaurants and shopping. The villa itself was beautiful with a reserve floor plan. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for your nice review! We have just completed some major renovations/upgrades, etc.; glad you enjoyed the villa.
We especially enjoy being close to Freshfields, our shopping area with a great grocery store and specialty shops. Glad you enjoyed your stay! Let us know if you would like to come back~
We loved our time at the Marin's condo. Everything was very clean upon arrival and we didn't have any issues during our stay. We found that we had everything we needed. The location is the real bright spot here, in our opinion. We will definitely be going back!
Owner makes a difference!
Owner was extremely responsive in weeks leading up to visit in timeliness and accuracy. Her flexibility given the incoming storm was something not every owner affords these days. Highly recommended.
very nice for families
had a great stay owner was very helpful gave us ideas where to go eat stores to check out plus gave us detail direction we had dear that came by every night so that was great for our two sons. villa was just a short walk to the straw market which is also by the beach boardwalk.
resort was very easy to check in and they were very helpfully when we called asking for places to fish and other activities to do with the kids.

everything was so clean they even had a play pen for my youngest one to sleep in
Fabulous floor plan, extremely clean and comfortable beds!!!!
This villa is fantastic. We have been to Kiawah and Seabrook many times over that past 8 years. The location, comfort, cleanliness and beautiful golf course view of this villa makes it our top pick for sure! We will definitely be returning.
Villa and resort are very clean and beautiful
Villa was very clean, well equipped with every item listed and looked freshly renovated. The owner was very helpful, sent information about the resort and answered our questions immediately. The resort is great, very clean and beautiful, the beach is pretty close to the villa, just a few minutes walk.
We enjoyed our stay a lot and hope to return soon.
Kiawah offers easy living and is a great place to be outside all day long. Riding bikes on the beach is our favorite activity, perhaps riding inland down to the Ocean Course, having lunch, and riding back on the beach. Looking at the ocean and the waves and the sun on the water=a beautiful experience. You can also ride the bikes down to the inlet between Seabrook and Kiawah and watch the dolphins 'strand feed' which is really interesting and amazing to watch. If you want to take a boat ride, there are many options through the Recreation Center at Night Heron Park. Horseback riding is also available (as you go toward Seabrook from the rotary). Getting exercise is easy also, between golf, the new pool complex, fitness center, tennis, bikes, whatever you want to do is here, including just relaxing! Charleston is about 25 minutes away with many great restaurants to choose from. We always walk around 'The Battery', the southern tip of Charleston-on the water. It is also interesting to walk by the homes and glance into their beautiful gardens and see the southern architecture. The horse and carriage tours are worth doing also! You can also take a ferry to Fort Sumter (first shot of the Civil War) or tour USS Yorktown at Patriot's Point, across the bay from Charleston. There are also several southern plantations (Magnolia, Middleton Place, Drayton Hall-all closer to Kiawah than the homes in Charleston) as well as several ships captain's homes in Charleston that are open for tours. If you would like to visit a museum, the Gibbs Museum in Charleston is worth the visit. Lots to do-not enough time!
