Green Turtle perfection
I've been to the Abacos at least a dozen times in the last 10 years and "Pair of Aces" was undoubtedly the best accommodations I've stayed at. The downstairs is perfectly setup with two identical bedrooms each having a queen and a twin plus a bathroom in each. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking or grilling your fresh catch and the screened in porch gives you some of the best views of the Sea of Abaco that you will find anywhere. The dock is more than capable of handling larger boats and it even had a great cleaning table with fresh water. The owner and caretaker were readily available if any problems were to arise. I've already recommended this place to several friends and I'm looking forward to return trip again. Sincerely, Dan Sieger
We love trying new places on GTC, however we may be hooked for good on this one. Margret and Brad were the most helpful during our stay at “Pair of Aces”. Thanks again Y’all!
Super fun trip!
The place was even nicer in person! The owner is super nice and helpful! The care taker was very sweet and nice we loved her! We can’t wait to go back. Definitely will be booking this one again next year!
We had a blast! snorkeling off the dock, feeding the turtles, an epic bone fishing day for my husband and son, and exploring New Plymouth. We took our son for his birthday and he stated it was the "best birthday ever". It was great get away and we will be going back. The house is comfortable and welcoming. I would highly recommend it without reservation.
Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas - Pair of Aces
Where to begin!
My wife and I have been to Bahamas a dozen times before but this was the first time to Abaco.
We found this place online and loved it before we even stepped on the plane to get there.
Brad Salter the owner and I had numerous conversations via email, text and on the phone before, during and after our trip.
We had everything planned or figured out as much as possible!
This included transportation from the airport via a short cab ride to the ferry and then directly to the dock in front of the house shown in the picture and also back to the airport via the same route going home which was extremely convenient.
We knew all the hot spots to hit from grocery stores, to restaurants, bars, where to rent a golf cart and a boat for our entire stay which is greatly recommended. DP Golf Cart Rentals and Sunset Marina for a boat are highly recommended.
We had 2 families of 3 each or 6 total with 2 of them being 17 years of age!
There was enough space for all without anyone crowding one another and WiFi if necessary for all ages!
There are two separate master bedrooms with a full bath in each for everyone to have a little privacy or to allow others to sleep in if needed.
There is a large living room with a brand new set of couches with a TV if necessary but we never turned it on during our 5 day visit. Most time was spent on the awesome screened porch!
There is a large inside eating area if you decide to do your own cooking.
If wish to dine in there are several grocery stores on the island that gives you most of everything you can get at home but at higher prices. If staying a long time and planning on eating at the house I would recommend getting groceries at Maxwell's on Abaco Island before you get to the ferry. Your taxi driver will wait for a small fee which is well worth it.
There is a grill to cook out on which we plan on doing more of on our next visit in March of 2019!
All the bars are great and most restaurants have a wide selection to choose from. The Leeward Yacht Club has great food but don't be in a rush like you shouldn't be while on vacation as there are only 3 that work there. The cook, the bartender and the waitress for all tables and the bar to contend with.
Margaret the property manager will meet you when you arrive and will handle just about anything that Brad has not taken care of before you have arrived!
I have ran out of room to leave a longer review . . . Just go and book here!
Thanks Brad for a wonderful vacation!
Thank you very much for the review. The island really does have a great combination of places to go, things to do, and wonderful people. We look forward to having you back next year, or sooner!
Spring Break at Pair of Aces on Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas, March 24 to March 28, 2018
The property and accommodations are five star. The lower house of the property where we stayed provides two spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, an open kitchen, dining and living area with a big screen TV and DVD player, washer/dryer and an unbelievable porch with amazing views of the Sea of Abaco. For those with work needs or kids, the Wi-Fi worked great. Every kitchen/household appliance that you could possibly need are on hand and in great condition. Watching the sun go down in the evening is a must along with enjoying the stars at night. The water is crystal clear and while there is a lot to do on the island, bring some masks and fins as you can snorkel right of off the dock and see a big variety of sea life. My kids favorites were the green eels. I really cannot say enough about the accommodations, perfect and far more than I expected. Also, if for any reason you would need assistance, a local, Margaret, whom acts as caretaker when the owners are away is a quick phone call away.
As for the owners, they are not on the property when guests are present. They stay in the upper floors which are not connected or for rent, so you have the run of the property to yourself. However, based on my emails with them, it was clear that they were very concerned both before and after that our stay was first rate. So, thanks to the Salter's for opening their home up to us, we had a wonderful time.
Transportation was surprisingly simple, we landed in Marsh Harbor Airport, took a cab ride to the ferry and the ferry delivered us right to the dock in the picture. When we left, it was the exact opposite, no issues at all. As for getting around the island, a golf cart is a must, we rented from T&A rentals and they literally just parked the golf cart with key in the driveway, it was there when we arrived, we simply left it in the driveway with key when we left (they came and picked it up).
This location is perfect for all variety of families, we traveled with 11, 8 and 5. Upon arrival, stock the fridge (note-prices are cheaper at Maxwells on Great Abaco Island, so if you have time, stop there before you ferry over). There are numerous excellent restaurants as well. Then explore the island and all of the wonderful beaches and if you are adventurous book a fishing or snorkeling trip with Brendals (they have family friendly trips as well).
In summary, Great Accommodations, Great Locations, Great Trip, we will definitely be back!
Thank you for the kind and thorough review. I'm especially glad to hear that the kids were able to see and enjoy the eels. We look forward to having you return!
