Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4

Our fully restored duplex gives an authentic New Orleans experience for your trip. Professional renovations combine the new and the old, from the top of the line kitchen and a king size memory foam mattress to the restored original fireplace and reclaimed exterior panels moved inside.

The fully stocked kitchen features all new appliances including side-by-side refrigerator with ice maker, gas range, microwave, and dish washer. A simply stocked wine rack is provided. The LazyBoy sofa in the living room converts to a full size inner spring mattress that sleeps like a standard mattress. Plenty of extra towels, pillows, and linens are stocked in the extra large closet.

Our neighborhood is at the edge of the revitalized St. Claude Ave. corridor which offers dining, cutting edge art galleries and theater venues a short stroll away. The property is just 9 blocks from the Frenchmen Street music venues, artist markets and restaurants. Walk 2 more blocks and you're at the French Market on the edge of the French Quarter. There you can shop, listen to live music and eat everything from raw oysters to vegan crepes. Be sure to check the French Market website to schedule a free walking tour. Further down the street is Jackson Square, home of Café Du Monde and St. Louis Cathedral. From the apartment, access to the new St. Claude/Rampart street car line is a 2 minute walk that will drop you off at the French Quarter, Superdome and Smoothie King Center or connect you to the Garden District and City Park lines, giving you easy access most tourist destinations in the city. Walking not your thing? Uber is readily available at this location. Parking throughout the French Quarter area is generally sparse, so leave your vehicle at the property and use other means of transportation during your stay. New Orleans has recently launched a Blue Bike rental program with 4 hubs located blocks from the property. There are also hubs on the street car line and along Frenchmen Street. Either way you chose to travel, you're within a mile from the heart of the French Quarter.

There is a Walgreen's Drug Store down the block and a new Robert' grocery store across St. Claude Street. Both are within walking distance.

Wifi is included with your stay, and our flat screen TV has a Chromecast for easy access to your own Netflix and AmazonPrime library. A HD antenna is also included for local channels.

Like most homes in the Marigny neighborhood, parking is on the street. There are usually spots available on the same block as the house or on the 1100 block where I live. There are no parking meters or neighborhood restrictions for how long you can leave your car. As long as your car is locked and personal items are not left inside it's usually safe.

Your host can have a major impact on your stay. I am a local, I love this town and this culture. In fact, I live down the street and have been in the neighborhood for 17 years. I would love to give you advice on local draws and places off the beaten path that will give you the most memorable experience possible.

Stayed May 2018

Our first trip to New Orleans and we will be back and rebooking as soon as we can.

The house was perfect and an easy walk to pretty much anywhere we needed to go. Neighborhood was safe in our opinion and we never had any issues or felt uncomfortable.

Host was amazing, kept in touch, gave us pointers, tips and suggestions and was very easy to get a hold of.

The house was perfect, just like the pictures. Fully stocked, nicely decorated and clean.

We were told the walls were a little thin but we were never bothered by any noises and the neighbors are very friendly, chatted with them a couple of times during our stay.

We would recommend this place for your stay in New Orleans.

Awesome place

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I spent three nights at this great place. It has everything you need for an awesome visit. Not too far to the venues on Frenchman and close to the streetcar. We felt safe the entire time there. Highly recommend.

Awesome Home!

  • 5 of 5

The one and only negative to this VRBO home is location. It is close to everything, but we were just 4 women so it was not safe for us to walk anywhere. As far as the home itself, it was incredibly awesome!!!! Beautiful, up to date, extremely nice home!!! We took Uber everywhere and it worked well. Would have liked to walk, but will take the Uber just to stay at the house!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words about my home but it saddens me that you didn’t feel safe to walk anywhere. The street car is less than 2 blocks away and will take you right to the French Quarter and Canal Street. I live a block away and my sister and teenage niece live In the adjoining home to where you stayed. Us girls walk by ourselves all the time. Come back soon and we’ll take a walk, meet the neighbors and have a drink down the street!

Great location, New interior, Comfy Bed, Nice Neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

Great option for our 10 yr anniversary. The location is ideal for getting around. The interior design is really cool and all of the amenities were fantastic. I don't think we cooked a single meal in the unit because we were stuffing ourselves with all of the amazing food in restaurants. But you could easily cook in the kitchen, it had everything you would need. The king sized bed was very comfortable and plenty of closet space for clothes. The unit does share a wall with the neighbor so you can hear them, however they were very nice and we chatted with them frequently. I can't wait until we come back!!

Best place to be in New Orleans

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place, offered us easy walking access to French quarter, and anywhere else we wanted to go. Less than 2 blocks to the trolley. Walgreens, and supermarket 2 to 3 blocks away. Everything you need in the house! Julia is a great host, kept in touch and helped with anything we needed. Quiet safe neighborhood, walked home many nights no problems. If you get tired and want a quick quiet dinner at the house, we found Genes Po boy to have great fried chicken wings (not hot), and red beans and rice very good. They were actually out one night at 6:30 pm, that tells me the locals love the place. Happy to plan another visit ❤

Perfect location!!!

  • 5 of 5

This place was the perfect location to everything. The streetcar was just down the street and a few minutes walk down Frenchmen St. will take you to all the fun you can get in the neighborhood. Or you can do what we did and ride bikes everywhere, which turned out to be super convenient. We walked down Frenchmen every night we were there and didn’t feel unsafe at all. The place was super tidy and clean, felt like we were at home. The only thing that bummed us out a bit was that we had to make a trip to the laundromat but even with that we’d definitely stay here again. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home!!!
