Overview

About the property

Gaze out at the crystal clear water from the comfort of your livingroom, diningroom, kitchen, and master bedroom. Wake to the pink rays of the sun over the water and watch as they gently turn to blue and gray. Observe egrets and herons perch among the marshes outside your deck, and relax as you watch the sunset over the marsh. Or soak in the two -person jazuzzi with your loved one as you notice the moon rising over the water. It just doesn't get better than this. As one guest said as she walked into the livingroom, "You feel like you're on a cruise ship!"

This is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with drop-dead views of the water. The master bedroom has a queen bed, a private entrance to a screened-in porch, and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water. The master bath has a 2-person jacuzzi and shower. Another bedroom has twin beds (one firm, one semi-firm) and overlooks the marsh. The third bedroom has a queen bed and also overlooks the marsh. All bedrooms have extra sheets and blankets.

The well-equipped kitchen has everything you could possibly need - and then some! Brand new dishwasher, two ovens, an island with a cooktop, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and views from the kitchen sink that will convince you to do dishes by hand. The living room has a TV, books, a couch that is oh so comfortable, and games for the family to enjoy. As you dine at the solid maple dining room table, enjoy the breathtaking views of the changing hues of the sky and the estuary tides. Most of all, a deck spans the length of the house that provides covered space for those who prefer shade, uncovered space for those who enjoy the sun, and a screened-in porch, all overlooking the water. A grill is available for your outdoor cooking pleasure. A large, modern, washer and dryer will take care of all your laundry needs, should you need them An extra room, an office with a desk and futon, overlooks the marsh and your own private bridge which leads to the house. Wi-Fi is available throughout the home.

For a true sense of the water and waterlife, bring old tennis shoes and at low tide you can walk to the far side of the uninhabited island behind the home. There’s a small beach there where you can relax with no one to interrupt your thoughts, except perhaps the distant sound of a lone seagull.

This home is located ten minutes from historic downtown Beaufort, where you can stroll the boardwalk and harbor, stop in local artisan shops, sip a beverage of your choice at many open air restaurants, or visit the N.C. Maritime Museum. Beaufort is protected from the ocean by two barrier islands- the Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve which includes Bird Shoals and Carrot Island, and Shackleford, which is one of the islands that makes up Cape Lookout National Seashore. Ferries from Front St in Beaufort take you to Shackleford, which is remote and lovely and peaceful and a very special place.

Charter fishing is available everywhere, for those who are interested. Grocery store and fish market are 10 minutes from the home. Atlantic Beach and Fort Macon State Park are a short 20 minute drive away, where you can bury your toes in the sand and surf the ocean waves. The N.C. Aquarium, on Pine Knoll Shores, is 10 minutes west of Atlantic Beach. More details of happenings around Beaufort will be available to you once you book this home.

About Dale Lohrey

I grew up in the north, and have lived in Tennessee and North Carolina all of my adult life. We currently live in Chapel Hill when not in Beaufort, but travel a lot these days for my work, which involves helping teens find ways to be more resilient and happy. My "b'shareta" is a home inspector, and takes care of every imaginable need that arises at the home. We have six children between us; five daughters and one son, all of whom are grown. One is in vet school and the another will soon be graduating college and getting married. Guess where she's spending her honeymoon? Oh, and of course, we have a very crazy cat, who is on my lap or next to me constantly!

Why Dale Lohrey chose Beaufort

Welcome to our home! We love it here and hope that you will too! I have been visiting Beaufort since I was a college student in the late 1970's, and fell in love with it. I lived here for about a year in the mid-1980s, and have come back at least once a year to visit friends and of course, the beautiful views and ocean. It has always been a very special place for our family, and they were THRILLED when we decided to buy this home. It is a dream come true for all of us!

What makes this house unique

I fell in love with this house the minute I stepped into the living room! What more do you need in life but those spectacular views to make and keep you happy? I knew that whatever my mood, if I looked out onto that sky and the water, and heard the sound of the seagulls and felt the warmth of the air on my skin, that it would feed my soul. I feel incredibly, unbelievably lucky to have found this home, and I am so happy to be able to share it with you. I hope you will love it as much as we do!

Everything We Hoped For! Peaceful, Gorgeous, Those Views!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and 18 year old were very happy to land here during part of a blustery late March week. The home was very well designed to give us space to hang out together in the kitchen and porch, as well in our own spaces after many hours in the car :). The kitchen was so well equipped and the views of the birds, sunset, boats, working crafts, were irresistible; we ended up grabbing fresh fish at Blue Coast in Beaufort and grilling every night (thanks for the extra effort to make sure the grill had a fresh tank Dale!). The bedrooms super comfy; great lounging in the living room; spent as much time as possible on the porch just watching the water, the birds, the fish, the trees. Easy and prompt communication with Dale. We couldn't have asked for more :).

Beautifully appointed home with even more gorgeous surroundings

  • 5 of 5

This home is wonderful, from the spacious open layout to its very comfortable furnishings. We kept being delighted with the many thoughtful surprises throughout the house such as coffees, teas, games, binoculars, etc. The house is nearly surrounded with water giving every room a beautiful view and some interesting water fowl spottings. Despite how serene and secluded the neighborhood, It is quite close to charming downtown Beaufort, several public beach accesses, the aquarium, and necessities like grocery stores and restaurants.

Relaxing, cozy home with incredible views & stocked with everything you might need while on vacation

  • 5 of 5

Nestled along a salt water river on the coast, this house was an awesome getaway for myself and friends for the week. The living room, kitchen and master all have grand views of a panorama of water and marsh. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook meals. The grocery stores are ~5 minutes away and downtown beaufort is less than 10, so we enjoyed trips into town a couple of times for dinner and drinks.

The beds were very comfortable too! Would absolutely go again- an awesome place to stay.

Incredible Oasis, perfect for the anyone!

  • 5 of 5

The owners were so pleasant and helpful! From the moment we drove across the private bridge to the house, we felt what they must have felt when they decided to buy this home and share it with others. Peaceful and cozy, with a photo opportunity practically every minute! The bright kitchen was a joy to use, very well equipped with everything we needed, and just made us happy! When it rained, we loved sitting in the living room and dining room witnessing nature at it's finest. We walked to the uninhabited island just off shore! The kids had so many questions about tides and wildlife and pirates. Argg!

We have already reserved our future trip at this holiday home for next year!
