Wonderful Stay with Great Views

The cabin was absolutely wonderful! The main space was absolutely stunning, and the views from the house were breathtaking. Me and my friends had a really enjoyable and cozy weekend staying here - we certainly enjoyed our nights in the hot tub as well!

Beautiful getaway with cozy energy!

We’re a few families with babies and dogs, and this house was perfect for a Hunter getaway! We lounged in the common space, relaxed in the hot tub, and cooked up a storm in the stocked kitchen. And right near the skiing at Hunter. We’ll cherish our memories there!

Friends for life

Great home for group to get together. Many rooms and beds. Warm and cozy. Dinning is no problem for large group. We were 10 and had plants of room and laughs.

I cannot understand how this house received so many high reviews. I will start with the positives though: hot tub, great location to access Hunter mountain ski resort and lots of kitchen utensils for easy meal prep. Now the negatives. This house is not family friendly AT ALL. The two sets of stairs can no way be up to code. The stairs leading from main floor to the bottom level essentially are just a hole in the floor that is steep, with narrow steps and no railing. My youngest child fell down them and when I reached out to the owner and let them know that, they didn't seem to care. We are lucky she didn't hurt herself more than she did. The stairs going to the upper level are equally as bad. One step was loose and they are floating steps (floating right above the stairs leading to the basement). Again when we reached out to the owner, they said that step was more "floating" than the others by design but they'd check. We checked, the screws weren't completely in the wall! This house seems to have been a diy not particularly well done. At least not enough to charge what they charge per night for the stay and to boast that it can accommodate as many people as they say it does. The beds on the bottom floor were smashed up against the heating system which we were nervous about it being a fire hazard. And speaking of fire hazard, they had no working fire or CO detectors. Again, the owner didn't seem to care when we reached out to them with that concern. Very disappointed overall

There is a reason this home continues to receive consistently strong reviews (I am also a Superhost on Airbnb). We take pride in maintaining a comfortable, clean, and well-priced home in a prime location near Hunter Mountain. Regarding the reference to “DIY” work: yes, many projects in the home are done by my husband. He has over 30 years of professional experience in design, carpentry, and construction, and his work reflects that level of expertise and attention to detail. As for the stairs, the staircase to the lower level is original to the A-frame design and is consistent with similar homes of that era in the area. The stairs to the upper level are newer and were professionally designed, manufactured, and installed. They have a floating design aesthetic, which can feel different from traditional stairs, but they are secure and intentional in their design. The heating system is inspected annually and is not a fire hazard. The only oversight was the fire/CO alarms, which were replaced immediately after you brought it to our attention. We take guest safety seriously and address concerns when they are raised. While we understand that the home’s layout and architectural style may not suit every family, many guests appreciate its character and design.

Great location, very accommodating home with all the amenities you need.

I booked this house for my husband's birthday weekend and we had a blast. There were 13 of us staying at the house and everyone had a bed with a few extra beds to spare. The house had all the linens but no towels which they warned us about before arriving so we were all prepared. The only other problem we ran into (which was totally our fault because we were warned about this beforehand too) was that we forgot to bring extra rolls of toilet paper and paper towel - they only supply one roll per bathroom and one paper towel roll. It ended up being fine, we just ran out and grabbed a few rolls - but just something to remember not to forget. The house fit us all comfortably - the beds were comfortable and warm. We had all the amenities we needed to cook and we were able to bbq one night which was great. The hot tub was a big hit with everyone and the ping pong table/pool table was also a lot of fun. I did notice there wasn't a foosball or air hockey table but we didn't miss it because of all the outdoor activities there were. There is a beautiful lake across the street and it is a very quiet and nice neighborhood. We did an amazing hike up one of the trails that led to a gorgeous view - couldn't ask for more! It was such a beautiful area and we were all so happy to get out of the city for a weekend and enjoy it in the outdoors.

Not good.

Unfortunately the house is not what we were expecting. We felt there were a lot of things overlooked. I don’t leave reviews often, but felt the need to do it for this one. Here are a few of the things we came across: Overall, it was not clean. For example, dirty tooth brush holders , dried food on the counters and place mats, dirty grill, dirty pantry shelves, stagnant water in the espresso machine, dirty tv remote. All of the rooms in the basement aren’t great, but there is one with a bed on the floor that was particularly uncomfortable. The table lamp and TV in an upstairs bedroom didn’t work. Microwave didn’t work. The fridge was completely not working on arrival. We were told to find extension cords and plug it in to a different outlet, so we had cords crossing our path in the kitchen and in the way of the oven the whole time. Ants-A LOT of ants -in our clothes, on the walls, by our heads on the couch….it was bad. Too many things can’t be plugged in the kitchen or the stove doesn’t work. Overall, probably the worst place we have stayed.

I take great pride in providing a high-end, well-appointed home, with top-of-the-line appliances and amenities, and I’m sorry to hear that your stay wasn’t up to your expectations. I want to specifically address the issues you encountered with the refrigerator and electrical problems. All of the appliances in the home, including the high-end refrigerator, are carefully maintained. When the circuit breaker tripped, I immediately offered to send an electrician who is highly familiar with the property to resolve the issue the next day, while your group was out skiing, to avoid any disruption to your stay.(extension cord was a temporary solution to get you through the night). Unfortunately, my messages offering this solution went unanswered, and since I could not send the electrician without your approval, I was unable to fix the issue until after your departure. Once you left, the electrician quickly repaired the issue, and now all the appliances are in perfect working order. I’d also like to mention that most of the beds in the home, including those downstairs, have been recently upgraded with brand-new mattresses to ensure the utmost comfort for our guests. I’m sorry if the bedding did not meet your expectations. As for the cleanliness concerns, I employ a highly skilled, highly paid and professional cleaning team, and this is the first time I’ve received similar feedback. Regarding the ants, the house is located in a wooded area, and while our exterminator treated the property just before your arrival, it can take a couple of weeks to fully resolve such issues.

Really disappointed - Not a good for large groups

My family and I recently stayed at this house and were extremely disappointed with the lack of space for what was advertised as a 16+ person house. The home is modern and beautifully decorated and there is adequate bedding for 16 individuals. However, the downstairs area which is not air conditioned and very muggy seems to be a place where the owner tried to fit in as many beds as possible. My husband and I slept on a futon bunk bed where the rods dug into our backs since the mattress was about 3 inches thick (so I'm not sure you can call it a mattress it was more like padding). The other bedrooms downstairs are very tiny - no walking space. The only bedroom that I would say is nice is the upstairs room with the TV in it. It's the only room where you have some room to breathe. The owners state that they have AC, which they do. 1 in the upstairs bedroom and 1 in the living room - not enough to cool the house down. The living room area, where we would have liked to relax and enjoy each other as a family could only seat 6 people comfortably. The point of this weekend was for all of us to be together which was hard to do if the main area of the house wasn't adequate for 16 people. We did enjoy the game room but again it was an extremely small room with carpets that were damp so it was not a comfortable room to hangout in. Overall, we were very disappointed in this house and the amount of money we paid for it. There are many other homes out there that are cheaper and much larger you just have to look. Good Luck.

It is unfortunate that this particular group was uncomfortable. However, there were other groups of that size that are repeat customers for this house. When I was asked if the house is suitable for 16 people, I said that groups like that stayed in the house but encourage them to re-read the description of the house carefully since the degree of comfort is very subjective. The website clearly states the size of the house as well as description of the rooms. I am surprised to hear that living area can comfortably sit only 6 people since it over 600 sqft. This is the first year we are renting in the summer, since we as well as our friends and family would use it full time in July and August. We never felt the need for AC since let’s say last weekend the air temperature at night was at 56F. In terms of lower level being dumpy; we never had such a rainy summer; normally the radiant heat installed on the lower level worked fine. At this point we are planning to installed radiant heat under the carpet of the game room. It should solve the problem. Also, the e-check that this group left via PayPal as a security deposit bounced.

Fantastic place for the right guests

This is truly a fantastic place. I’ll tell you about what makes it so fantastic and then I’ll tell you why I would probably not stay here again. This home is truly a gem. It’s clean and neat with a ton of bedrooms, bathrooms, and outdoor space. There were 11 of us staying here and we all ate most dinners together outside — lovely. When it rained one night, we found that the dining room table fit us just fine. The home is well appointed. No shortage of nice wall hangings to look at, toiletries, toilet paper, spices and seasonings, trash bags, wood for the outdoor fire, and just about everything else. The outside is amazing. The day before our stay, the brand new firepit with grill arrived and was installed. Cannot wait to get one at my own house. The firepit was set on a gravel bed, making it especially nice. There was plenty of wood for it. The outdoor living room was a great place to hang out. Very cozy. The deck has a wonderful table for eating. On the other deck is an awesome hot tub. (Unfortunately, we had a problem with the automatic cover, but we still were able to use it.) The home is located very close to Hunter Mountain, Caaterskill Falls, Tannersville, and tons of other hiking and activities. Here’s why I likely won’t stay here again, but for others, these will not really matter: - There was a window air conditioner in the living room which helped a lot. However, the upper floor bedroom my husband and I were in did not have a ceiling fan. There was one, but had been disabled, due to how low it was. I found the nights to be very hot. There were floor fans in most rooms. - The showers were very, very small. Also, I used the upstairs one, and there was really no way of keeping the water in the shower. Others who showered upstairs said the same thing. There is not a bathtub in the house, so if you have little ones, make sure they are okay with the shower. - There were some bugs (ants and whatnot.) Clearly, this was an issue in the house, because there were many ant traps around. Luckily, we saw my youngest grandson grab one of the ant traps before it could reach his mouth. - You must climb stairs just to get into the home. With my knees, I found this difficult, especially when bringing things in or out. - The bedrooms downstairs were very tiny and the beds were not comfortable for those of our family who slept downstairs. I still think it was a great place!

Family getaway

Very nice property, great for our family of 7. Many bedrooms allowed everyone to spread out. Bedrooms are tight, but that encouraged everyone to be in common area, which was very nice. Hot tub attached to deck was a big plus and got a lot of use. Milana & Boris were responsive hosts and very friendly and accommodating.

Hunter ski trip

The house was well equipped for large groups and had all amenities needed. The upgraded bathrooms are nice. Super close to the slopes. Very convenient.

Perfect for our needs

Hello, my group of ten adults thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this place. Milania was very easy to work with and the place was clean and welcoming when we arrived. As we were there for a festival, we didn't spend that much time at the house itself, but the hot tub is great as is the porch out the back. One of the bathrooms was redone (we were here last year too) and it was very nice. All of the bathrooms were lovely with supplies of shampoo etc and scented oils. Please note that the rooms downstairs are as advertised and a bit small for adults but we managed.

Great house, wonderful hot tub and overall excellent stay!

Milana was very responsive to my questions and flexible with check in and check out times. 8 of us stayed in the house for a weekend so there was plenty of space for everyone. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of bedding. There is a large dining room table which was nice to be able to eat around together. The hot tub was a great addition and we spent several hours in it over the weekend! Bathrooms were all nice and had plenty of hot water for all of us with good shower pressure. A couple of the rooms on the basement could do with just a little sprucing up but are completely functional and great for kids bedrooms. Overall a wonderful weekend stay and I would definitely recommend the house.

Exellent service, tremendously welcoming house

First off, we've been coming to Hunter Mountain as a group of 15 for 10 years now. Usually there is something wrong with the house we choose to stay at. Not so at this house. Their caretaker Leon did an amazing job getting the place ready for us including preparing the hot tub so that it was clean and usable. Second, the house itself was modern and up to date on the inside. Modern kitchen, furniture that was inviting and without any problems (trust me, many ski houses up there cannot say the same thing) Third, the proximity to the Mountain was unbeatable. A simple 2 minute drive and you're there. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy themselves for the weekend and get some skiing in. The Amenitites: hot tub, wood burning stove, game room were all fantastic.

Awesome!

I must say this was a beautiful and cozy house. Our group of 11 had a wonderful July the 4th weekend. The house was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Leo was very friendly and we want to thank him for putting us onto the schoharie creek house. I recommend this house 100%. We can't wait to plan our next trip to hunter mountain in the winter and staying here again.

Great Weekend Away, Great Place to Stay!

The house is VERY close to the ski mountain and a charming town. We had 11 people and had plenty of space/beds/privacy to go around. The property was very well maintained/clean and the owners provided great service and were very easy to work with. Lots of stairs but that was not a problem for us. Everyone had a great weekend away and would recommend this property. Car is needed, plenty of parking at the house.

Great getaway in beautiful Catskills

Wow, what a wonderful weekend we spent in Catskills Mountains! All 14 of us (10 adults and 4 kids) voted on making it our annual retreat. The house is beautiful, modern and cozy with personal touch that makes you fill like you are staying at friend’s house. Being a somewhat a gourmet cook, I really appreciated a well equipped kitchen and gas grill on the deck adjacent to the kitchen. Living room/dining room combination provided us with enough space to socialize without being on the top of each other. Kids enjoyed game room and we enjoyed not seeing them. Too bad that it was not warm enough to go swimming in the lake, but kids enjoyed fishing there. Oh, and hot tub is AWSOME! I’d recommend this house to anyone who’d like a comfortable hang-out in the country.

Great house!

It was a great experience. The house house is very big and well equipped , clean linens and toilettes. The game room was a lot of fun as well the hut tub. The house is ideal for large groups of people. There we 16 of us ages ranging 21-54 and we had enough space and a lot of fun together. The owner was very helpful and always available by phone or email. I would definitely recommend this house and am looking forward to renting it again (this time in winter).

Wonderful house

I can't wait to come back! My friends and I stayed at the house for a long weekend in early December. The owners and property manager were very accommodating and friendly. The house was very cozy and the hot tub was amazing. The kitchen is very well equipped and the dining table is large enough for your entire group. We had lots of fun playing ping pong in the game room and cards in the dining room (the owners provide plenty of cards and poker chips). We came to ski/snowboard at Hunter so the vicinity to the mountain was prime, only a few minutes drive to the base. All in all, we had an amazing time.

Great House

This house is wonderful. My friends and I have stayed here for 2 years in a row and plan to return next year. The hot tub is beautiful and we had a fire going going in the wood burning stove all weekend long. The house comfortably accommodated my group of 15 people. There are 3 bathrooms within the house, all of which are brand new. Everything in the house is very clean and well maintained. The kitchen is spacious and so is the dining area. The Entertainment Center (TV, DVD, STEREO) has been upgraded for this year. The owner of the house is always available via email and phone should any problems arise. I highly recommend a vacation rental at this house. PS- The house is located 2 minutes from Hunter Mountain.
