At 'The Writer's Nest' you will awake to a stunning mountain view and sunrise right off the 'Great Plains'. At night during Spring and Summer you will peacefully sleep to the whispering sounds of 'Little Chicken Creek' just off your bedroom privacy deck.

'The Writer's Nest' is located in a year-round wonderland. Summer is a time to get out of the heat and into the Natural Air Conditioning of 80 degree days and 50 degree evenings in the high altitude clean mountain air. Fall Colors are Colorado's stunning Aspen Trees against our deepest of Blue Skies. And Winter boasts the High Country Splendor of Fresh Colorado Powder. The Writers Nest is the Lower level of the "Rockridge Cabin". We never rent the upper level to other guests when the Writers Nest is rented. The Writers Nest is a 100% Separate fully equipped Residence with private entrance and its own dedicated parking. I use the completely separate upper level as our office and in the spring summer and fall I come and go often. You will never know I am here.

Michael was a great host, and he has maximized the space in this small cabin. The views were spectacular. The final few hundred yards of the drive up the mountain can be challenging in a two-wheel-drive car, even in the summer.

Write up is very accurate, don't trust the GPS to get there, which Michael explained very well. Definitely need all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. Really enjoyed the stay.

Michael was very accessible and helpful with pre-stay guidance. Property is perfect for a couple or individual looking for a remote location. It is the lower level of a home that is occupied so not as private as expected, but if you are looking for a remote location to stay reasonably priced and hike the area, it is perfect!

We appreciate our guests time to write this very gracious review. But we must make this clarification; From the Writers Nest Privacy patio you cannot see any other houses or neighbors. The closest other one of our Vacation Oroperties is 120 feet away. On the 600 foot access road to the to the Writers Nest there are 4 of our other Vacation Propeties each sitting on its own dedicated 1acre Secluded lot. The Writers Nest is at the very end of our “Dead End” road and none of these properties are visible from the Writers Nest. We point this out because our guests statement “that there are a lot of neighbors” we think gives you the prospective traveler the wrong impression of the seclusion of our properties. Lovely and serene, yet convenient location.

We loved The Writer's Nest. Though we were aware of other properties being close by on out drive up, The Nest was secluded and quiet and the neighboring properties were quickly forgotten. We were glad we had 4-wheel drive, even going in the summer, but getting in was no problem that way. Beautiful views, lots of hummingbirds and other feathered friends, and several mule deer came right up close to the deck. Clean, quiet, and cozy; a fantastic romantic getaway!

3 perfect nights in the forest

The Nest was such a great place to get away from city life. Everything was exactly what I was hoping for. Made dinners and breakfast in the kitchen, morning coffee on the bedside deck overlooking the mountains and sounds of the rushing stream below. Sunrises and pitch black starry sky’s at night, I looked up and right away saw a shooting stay straight above me. Michael was a great host and wonderful to chat with about our common interests. Great Property and Sky

This is a great property on the east side of the mountain - beautiful sunrises, moonrises and star views. Michael is a great host and we look forward to seeing him again soon. Everything is clean and well organized. We took Michael's advice on hiking Maxwell falls and had a great hike, just a short drive away. We liked the Willow Creek restaurant on the north side of the lake in Evergreen, but cooked most of our meals at the Writer's Nest.

Our location is clearly described in the listing and is easily identified on The listing provided Google map feature. We have no apologies for our location. Furthermore the size of the “Writers Nest” is specifically mentioned in the listing. We suggest to prospective travelers to please read our listings completely before you reserve a Secluded Wilderness location vacation residence. ComplaIning that our location is “to Remote” is a childish way to cover up ones lack of basic vacation planning. This guest should have stayed in the city. In addition upon reading this review I went to the Writers Nest refrigerator and found that a gallon of milk easily fits in the refrigerator. If you are a prospective traveler please read our many reviews where travelers who have stayed at the Writers Nest applaud the beauty, serenity and location of our Wilderness setting. Beautiful mountain home

We had a wonderful time at Michael's beautiful property. It was very well kept up with gorgeous views and everything we needed to make it "home" for almost a week. Michael was a gracious host and greeted us and answered any questons that we might have regarding the town and restaurants, etc. We did have a bit of a challenge getting our Honda Civic up there at night when it was more challenging to see and would recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle or a van as the roads are unpaved as you ascend the mountain. If you want quiet, privacy and beauty with all of the amenties, this is your place!

Please note; The roads to the Writers Nest are well maintained by the Road and Bridge Dept of Clear Creek County Colorado. Your 2 Wheel, or Front Wheel Dr. Vehicle is fully adequate to easily access the Writers Nest in non-winter months. A 4 Wheel Dr. Vehicle is only required on the day of a snow storm in winter and is generally required for all Colorado Rocky Mountain travel thru-out the Winter Months. We always appreciate our guests observations and believe the referenced comments left by our valued guests are primarily due to the rural nature of the community being quite different than an Urban setting with frequent street lights and well developed paved roads. We have never had a confirmed reservation guest who has not been able to access the Writers Nest. If you have further questions about this topic please call us anytime. Sincerely Michael

Writer's Nest for a writer's retreat

I spent a week at the Writer's Nest this fall, fulfilling a long-term desire to spend a week alone in a lovely place working on my book. It met and exceeded my expectations. The quiet, the beauty of the decor and the view, the convenience and attention to detail were all capped off by Michael's warm and considerate style of hosting. Although I was alone, I felt safe and secure. And while I had all the privacy I wanted, I knew I could get help or answers to my questions at any time. It was a magical experience!
