Why Stephanie Nocita chose Fieldbrook
A gorgeous, quiet, redwood retreat. Overhead redwood trees have been limbed to create a canopy. Stars are visible at night (when clear), and the forest is otherwise quiet with birdsong and the sound of running water (when creek/waterfall are running; dry during summer). If you're looking for some peace and quiet, beauty, and to be amongst old redwood trees, this is you want to meditate, read a book, or forge your own trail and stomp the woods. Hikes, beach, forest, adventure and natural beauty await you in a setting with the cleanest air, purest water, (and no biting bugs!). We are in a quiet yet convenient location. Nestled in a private redwood grove alongside a seasonal creek with many flowers, fruit trees and berry bushes, you can enjoy the outdoors all around you. During the summer it’s cool, and in the winter/spring it’s rainy which is when the creek shares with us its 2 waterfalls. **The Space** We have 10 acres of private redwood forest land, so you will get to enjoy nature in all its glory. Enjoy the silence (with minimal to no biting bugs!), take a hike in the woods, watch the butterflies, go to the beach, or gaze at the stars. On a clear day, hike to the top of the ridge up our own private trail and see views of the ocean. During a clear summer night, if there isn't any famous Humboldt fog, we can see the Milky Way, Venus, Polaris, and all the stars the cities miss out on (bring your binoculars or travel telescope!). Our cozy and clean Rustic Cabin has a sleeping loft under a skylight (accessed by an affixed interior ladder). In the loft is a brand new queen-sized mattress that allows for very comfortable sleeping. We provide clean sheets, pillows/pillowcases, and blankets. In addition to the propane flip-switch fireplace heater, there’s also a separate electric radiating space-heater for extra warmth as desired. Though it never gets “hot” here, there’s also an overhead ceiling fan for air circulation.
What makes this Cabin unique
In the cozy living room area, we have a cushioned bench seat with snuggly pillows and a blanket surrounded by windows for never-ending views of the trees. We also have a 32" HD Flat Screen and DVD player (no cable/satellite channels) for watching movies. We have a selection of DVD’s you can view, or bring along your favorites. There is also a guitar and tambourine for musical guests to enjoy. The kitchenette has a drop-leaf table with 2 cushioned chairs for meals/games, a small fridge/freezer, microwave, Keurig with assorted coffee/decaf, tea, and hot chocolate, Stevia natural sweetener, silverware, dishes, cups, mugs, wine glasses, a knife block, bottle opener/corkscrew, plus complimentary water bottles, wine and local beer. The nearest store (Fieldbrook Market) is at the bottom of the hill, about a 7 minute drive away. Enjoy your meals at the drop-leaf table surrounded by windows all around affording picturesque views of the redwoods. Our property’s natural spring water from the very source of the creek couldn’t be any more fresh and pure. It’s also treated by an ozonator, UV light, and soft water filter. (City folks will love that it doesn't smell like chlorine, leave any water spots on glassware, and makes your skin and hair soft). The detached modern Bath House (with motion-sensing access lights for convenience at all hours) has electric lighting, a curtained bathtub/shower (affording beautiful views through the head-height windows!), pedestal sink, mirrored cabinet, and a Santerra Green Envirolet, which is a waterless, self-contained composting toilet. For proper function of this type of toilet, you must put your used toilet paper in the trash.

This was cabin was perfect, it was so secluded and peaceful. Absolutely beautiful.
We stayed here as a home base while we hiked in the redwoods. We were looking for something secluded but with amenities. This place fit the bill perfectly. The cabin was quiet, quaint and absolutely lovely. Stephanie and Michael were fabulous hosts--their dining/exploring recommendations were on point and Michael took us on a walk from his property up to a ridge overlooking the area. Truly cannot say enough great things about this cabin and the hosts. Highly recommend!
If you are looking for a secluded cabin in the quiet woods then look no further. The cabin has everything you will need to completely reboot from the world. The wooden deck, a short walk from the cabin, was perfect for breakfast and starting your day. Don't let the separate bath house and toilet scare you as it is all in your head!
Stephanie and Michael were great hosts who responded to our queries extremely quickly and provided perfect instructions on how to get to their cabin. The cabin was everything we were looking for and more! It is a short and beautiful drive from the cabin to the redwoods or any other local attractions. I would recommend this cabin to everyone!
Matt and Lizzy were excellent guests! Great communication, and some of the cleanest/tidiest we've hosted. They were respectful of our property, and left the place immaculate. Would be glad to host them again anytime, and we recommend them to future hosts without hesitation. A+ experience all-around.
didn't know a setting could be this pretty. beyond our expectations!!
Liz and her family were quiet, tidy, considerate guests. High recommendations for future hosts. Pleased to have hosted them, and would welcome them back anytime.
Peace and quiet
We stayed that this cabin with our family of 4, kids 6 and 9 and we really enjoyed it. The birds woke us up every morning and the stream was flowing just enough to add to the soundtrack. Our kids loved exploring the trails and treehouse. I'm not comfortable with heights so we gave the loft to the kids and took the bunkhouse. It worked for us! The cabin and surrounding property was just our style but I really enjoyed that we felt so close to everything. We usually stay in secluded cabins but the drive back to the sights can be long. Not so here! We fell in love with Arcata and had no problem with the short 20 minute drive for breakfast every morning. There are other, nice locations closer as well. A great perk! The hosts were very welcoming and quick to respond to questions we had via email.
Rustic living in a modern day
