Skyward Cottage is a simple, rustic, painted wooden cottage that sits right behind the dune on Hope Town's quiet and beautiful sandy ocean beach. Totally private, it is surrounded by silver buttonwood, Hawaiian sea grape and palms. Let the ocean waves and cool breezes lull you to sleep each night.
Staying at Skyward Cottage is little like "glamping" in the most beautiful setting you can imagine. This is an idyllic, secluded old beach retreat with modern conveniences, full of character yet only one minute's walk from Vernon's Grocery and all the amenities of the settlement.

About Sabra Hill
My siblings and I own this beautiful property that was once our father's primary residence. He fell in love with Hope Town as a young man and we all grew up loving this home on the beach. I currently reside in Annapolis, MD, but am lucky to have a great caretaker to help you with anything you might need in Hope Town.
Sabra Hill purchased this Cottage in 1964
Why Sabra Hill chose Elbow Cay
Skyward Cottage is like a secret spot, right in Hope Town but tucked away privately steps from a gorgeous secluded beach.
What makes this Cottage unique
The view from the Adirondack chairs in the dune is magical.
Sports & Adventure Activities
It's a little piece of heaven
Skyward Cottage is a little gem with amazing sunrises over the ocean enveloped in Rich tropical foliage. As peaceful As It Gets.
Breathtaking view of ocean, steps from the water, wonderful sound of waves to lull you to sleep!
We loved everything about it- rustic in the style we like, close to restaurants and activities but very private and secluded spot just a few steps from the ocean- we snorkeled, swam, kite surfed and found wonderful sea glass all right at the beach in front of us! Sabra is a delightful hostess- concerned with your needs but unobtrusive- we will definitely visit again! We usually come on our sailboat so it was a new experience for us to stay on land and we were thrilled with our choice!
I have just returned from an idyllic month in Annie's Skyward cottage and could not be more pleased. The cottage is charmingly rustic and as far from the hustle of a resort as one can get. The views are breathtaking and life here is simple and peaceful. We spent our time searching for treasure on the lovely beach, pulling wahoo from the sea with Local Boy Charters, and a big night out was bingo at the village pub. The cottage is steps from all the village has to offer but as private as one could hope for. Excellent for a romantic getaway. Thank you Annie. You are a wonderful host.
No Stars For This One
I cannot imagine anyone giving this place 5 stars. The photos are deceptive. The place is dirty and dingy. There is no mention of a 3 story house that shares the property. The sliding glass entry door is next to impossible ot open or close. The deck is rotten. The furniture is disgusting and should be trashed. The only positive in this place is the view of the ocean from the dune. I have had many vacations through VRBO and they have always been positive and well represented. I feel I was deceived by the photos and the allegedly 5 star reviews.
My wife and I spent 10 extremely peaceful days at Annie's Skyward Cottage in November, just as the islands were preparing for the holidays and start of tourist season. The cottage is tucked into the backside of a dune on the Atlantic Ocean side, buffered from any winds by the dune, palms, and shrubs. The kitchen, a few steps from the cottage, is equipped with everything you need; refrigerator, stove/oven, toaster, microwave, coffee pots, and utensils. The cottage hosts the bedroom, bathroom, and sitting/TV room, and is stocked with many books, from fiction to local (I suggest the "History of an Out Island and its Cays" and "The Long Day Wanes") (and wifi covers the cottage and kitchen if you need a download). The interconnecting deck includes a pair of Adirondack Chairs overlooking the Atlantic and the beach (great place to start the morning). The beach is long and beautiful, quiet, gives up its sea glass, very swim-able, and depending on wind direction, good for SUPping or Surfing. The town is only about 100 yards down a sandy path, the harbor another 50 yards farther, meaning food, drink, bike/cart/boat rentals are steps away. The cottage could not be more ideal for balancing a little peace and quiet, with all the convenience of access to the island's amenities when the mood strikes. Remember to look skyward at night, the stars are beautiful. Thank you Annie for being a great host!
Awesome and Romantic
The cottage was just perfect for the two of us and you cannot beat the location - right on the beach! This was our second time to Hopetown, we liked it so much the first time that we came back for two full weeks. The cottage was centrally located in town so we were close to everything, but our beach seemed so private. Waking up in the morning and having coffee on the deck overlooking the ocean is heaven. We would definitely recommend this cottage to all and hope to stay there next time we go back.
