Beautiful, Picturesque and Relaxing!
We love staying here! We've been here a few times, and the home is always clean and welcoming. The bedding is nice and always plenty of towels etc. It's a great place to hang out, before and after skiing, or even summer and fall! This year the foliage was spectacular and the sunny days let us take many walks in the area. The kids love roaming through the woods and checking out the stream nearby. With so many bedrooms, even with a large group, you always feel like you have your own space. The kitchen is well-appointed, and it's always nice and people leave behind what spices/condiments they don't need, and we do the same! The fireplace is a great conversation area, and the teens enjoy the same downstairs to hang out themselves! We look forward to our next visit!
Love this place!
We stayed with the owners as guests and had an amazing stay at the Octagon house- love everything including the unique layout, the beautiful surroundings and the cozy feel. It's one of the most interesting houses I have ever been in and we loved the open layout in the octagon style. Living room was so cool. Would definitely rent this place anytime!
A perfect house for a big group of people. Plenty of rooms to sleep a bunch of kids lovely living space with wood stove. Basement great for kids to play!
Close to the mountain as well.
THE OCTAGON!! You can't go wrong!
Every President's weekend my friends and I choose a different mountain in the Northeast coast to ski. This year we chose Jay Peak and chose the Octagon as our home away from home to stay at. The house had all the necessities you could need for a stay and then some. If you forgot something, guaranteed the home had it so you wouldn't have to spend time shopping to get it while you were on vacation.
The living room area of the house with the fireplace played a great role in our trip. We enjoyed spending time around the fireplace and enjoying each other's company at night. The house was perfect distance away from Jay peak. There was plenty of room . We had 3 couples and 3 singles and still had beds and rooms empty. We were extremely happy with our stay. We even got shirts that said "The Octagon" on them to wear while we were there. Definitely if we go back to Jay Peak, Octagon is where we will stay!!
Great place to stay for large groups. Plenty of space for a lot of people and there are two great common areas, one upstairs and one downstairs, which is great if the large group wants to split into two and do two different things (watch a movie downstairs, play a board game upstairs, etc.). The layout of the Octagon is amazing and the fireplace cove is very warm and a great place to hang out. The fireplace does an amazing job of keeping the house warm.
This property is at the top of a big hill (small mountain) so it is best to have snow tires and 4-wheel drive to get up the hill. I stayed at the Octagon during a snowstorm so the hill was very snowy and icy. I was still able to make it up the hill in my two-wheel-drive Toyota van, but it took some strategic New England winter driving experience.
Overall, great place with a nice small town center about 10-15 minutes away. Jay Peak was about 20-30 minutes away for skiing. I highly recommend the Octagon for big groups planning vacations in Vermont.
A Hidden Gem
The Octagon is structured perfectly for large groups. The design of the first and second floor give groups a large communal space to lounge in, while also providing privacy in surrounding rooms. The wraparound porch has adequate floor space and looks out towards a beautiful landscape giving the already large communal space an outdoor extension.
All appliances and furniture were clean and well-maintained.
The Octagon is an architectural outlier that both families and large groups can enjoy.
Enosburg Falls, VT is the perfect destination town for a family summer vacation or for a reunion weekend of ski friends. A series of covered bridges provides a great background to view fall foliage. Spectacular mountain views and beautiful pasture lands surround this small village. This region is the recreation playground of Northern VT. Jay Peak Resort, Smugglers' Notch and Stowe Ski Area are all within close driving distance. The famous Long Trail divides the region while a rails-to-trails recreation path and an extensive system of natural waterways allow access to all the geography. State-of-the-art golf courses and antique shopping provide hours of diversion. There is something for everyone in this beautiful spot located 1.5 hours from Montreal, 1 hour from Burlington, and close enough to drive from Boston or New York. Other Activities: hiking, kayaking, canoeing, cross-country skiing
