Located in Northwest Wisconsin, our comfortable lakefront and golf course condominium rentals are 25 minutes north of Rice Lake; 30 minutes east of Spooner; and 35 minutes south of Hayward. There is always something to do in the Birchwood, Wisconsin area year round, from fishing on the Red Cedar Chain of Lakes, (Red Cedar, Balsam, Hemlock) and various other lakes, boating, hiking the Ice Age Trail, biking, golfing at Tagalong Golf Course, a Scottish Style 18-hole course, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, checking out the small towns and their specialty shops and many other things.

This was primarily a fishing trip but we also enjoyed the golf course. My only complaint was the poor condition of the boat landing area. It was very weedy and shallow. It would be nice if a few boat slips were available for resort guests to use during their stay.

It didn't bother us but when we left on Monday there was a hole in the wall in the landing between floors. I think they pushed the luggage cart down the stairs.

Red Cedar Tagalong

Reviewer Comments: We originally could not get a rental so we were staying on the South end of the lake in a different resort, which was such a disappointment. Then...bam...a unit opened up halfway through our week and we got to stay at Tagalong! The unit was beautiful, the view was fantastic, the people at Cheers were wonderful and the other owners and guests were great to be around. The Saturday afternoon concert at the Pumphouse was really great. We'll be back!

Great Location, Comfortable Condo Unit

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were very happy to find availability on short notice, for our one-night stay, while visiting friends in the area. Our unit was on the end of the building, providing a nice view of the lake and direct access to the shore/dock. We enjoyed the interior layout, and for the most part it was clean. However, the kitchen sink had not been cleaned as food particles were quiet visible, as well as a film around the faucet area. The kitchen soap dispenser was also broken and should be an obvious item in need of repair, as it came apart as soon as you touched it. The self-check-in went well, however, we did not receive the directions on how to lock the unit until many hours after we checked in. This was emailed to us well after our check-in, and we did not have email access while traveling to the resort. This left us having to leave our room unlocked (with all of our belongings inside), while we went to join friends for dinner. We tried for over an hour to reach someone by phone for instructions, and our call was not answered until the next day-AFTER we had already checked out! With that being said, their customer service could use a better system for guests to reach them for such issues. The door lock is unlike any other we've ever encountered, and the instructions should be written on the inside of the door itself, to avoid such waste of a traveler's time and stress in trying to figure it out. We've traveled throughout the U.S., as well as to many foreign countries and we've never experienced an issue with locking our door. Fortunately, the resort itself is in a very safe, relaxing community, so nothing was tampered with while we were out. Our overall experience was good, although we did not use the kitchen for cooking, nor the fireplace (during our July stay), therefore, we cannot comment on those items. But, sitting outside, looking at the lake the next morning was very relaxing and we would choose this location/resort again, when visiting the area.

Our relaxing 3-day vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location was perfect for us as golfers. The staff works with us for our stay preferences. The accommodations work for us. We really like and appreciate the door locking convenience. We do notice some issues but do NOT like to complain. We noticed more pets being allowed and taking walks along the building shrubs with doing their 'thing' along the way. This could be an issue with people stepping in unpleasantness. We ALWAYS leave our unit a bit cleaner than it was when we arrived mainly the dishes. The memo we received said to wash all dishes before leaving and leave them in the dishwasher. We do not mind washing dishes BEFORE we use them but it should be suggested that visitors should wash them BEFORE USE. OR, the house keepers should always wash them and advised visitors that the dishes will be in the dishwasher. That way visitors will know the dishes ARE cleaned. We very much appreciate the owners placing their units in the rental pool so THANK YOU owners for this opportunity. WE WILL BE BACK!
