About Jean Boatman

Jean Boatman, I am a vacation home owner along with my husband Wayne. My husband drives truck and I am an interior decorator/painter. We built and designied this cabin with comfort and up north decor in mind.

Jean Boatman purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Jean Boatman chose Birchwood

This home is for our enjoyment now and later when we retire. We had been managing a campground in this resort and love the area. There are so many great places to dine out & shop. We enjoy The Birchwood Cafe and Just Right On Main for dining and shopping. We decided to build when the new lots became available and were first to get the best veiw of the lake.

What makes this cabin unique

We enjoy the people who come into this area. There is fishing, Atv trails and many nice shopping and entertaining things to do in the area. There is snowmobile trails in the winter and ice fishing or just relaxing in this comfy cabin. I also designed the basement to be either a family game area or it can be transformed into a space for scrapbooking and other crafts for up to 8 people.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Girls Weekend! 32* and 3" inches of snow. Our beer cans went for play ground equipment!

We had fun as always!

fantastic and peaceful.

  • 5 of 5

We have been staying here for many years. You can go to all five lakes by canoe, kayak, boat or pontoon. Spider Lake Saloon is great for a drink or meal. There are also many great places to go in the area for a good meal. Sitting on the porch and watching the hummingbirds is so peaceful. The house is comfortable with all of the amenities. Great place to stay.

Relaxing northwoods get-away

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed our stay at this relaxing northwoods get-away! The cabin had all the amenities one could anticipate wanting or needing. There was even a baby gate to enclose the deck so I knew my dog wouldn't wander. Loved listening to the loons, spending time at the dock, watching the hummingbirds and bunnies!

An amazing place for a family vacation

  • 5 of 5

It was a clean property with everything we needed for a week at the lake. The lake was clear and deep. Our family was able to fish, kayak, use the pedal boat, and enjoy the swim dock. Lake 1 was big enough for our younger kids to enjoy some tube rides using our boat as well. We had campfires and were able to watch the meteor shower. The lake was so quiet, that my kids called it our private lake. The bar at the end of the driveway was a great place to get a cheap meal, so we didn't waste any fishing time cleaning up in the kitchen. It was a 35 minute drive to Hayward and some short touristy activities. It was truly the most relaxing vacation we have had in years.

Another Beautiful Week at Pine Cone Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a beautiful week at Pine Cone Retreat the week of July 7th - 14th. The weather was absolutely perfect and we were swimming off the dock every day but one. The water was absolutely beautiful! The fishing was great with lots of northern pike and bass caught throughout the week and we had a wonderful fish fry Friday night.

The house was immaculate, as always, and some of our favorite times were spent on the front porch listening to the loons on the lake. We live for that sound all year!

The highlight of our week was seeing a bear cross through the channel from Spider 4 to Spider 5 and swim right in front of our pontoon! Such a neat sight to see!

We have already booked our stay for next July which will be our 5th year staying here and we're counting the days until we're back again. We absolutely love it here!

Amazing, snowmobile paradise.

  • 5 of 5

It was a cold start on the first morning of our stay 18 below zero, but you wouldn't know it unless you brought up the weather report on the internet, the cabin is warm and snug. We loved that the snowmobile trail was so close but don't worry we didn't hear the snowmobiles on the lake or on the near by trail, the cabin is well insulated. The trails surrounding the cabin were well groomed and the Tuscobia Trail was easily reached. I loved the oven, I wish I had one like this at home, it heats up in about 6 minutes (it tells you how long it will take to reach the temp you set it for!) and it cooked a rack full of bacon in 20 minutes. The cabin was perfect for our group of two couples. with a bedroom and bathroom on each floor we felt like we had total privacy. When we turn in for bed, you couldn't even hear the TV from the lower level on the main level. We even were able to use the deck on the second day or our stay as the temp reached 39 degrees. We had a cocktail outside as the sunset across the lake, it was magical. We will put this one on our list for next year.
