AMAZING ocean view with incredible sunrises and so much entertainment watching the seals every day! The house was extremely comfortable and had a homey feeling, for our group of 4 adults!
Highly recommend especially if you need a reset and reminder of the important things in life. Or if you are just wondering what the voice of your teenager sounds like.. this is a great place to bring them and watch them rekindle their their childhood joy and open up to you. The environment was calm and electronics free which allowed us to enjoy each other's company and remember how to talk to each other. The property itself is gorgeous. It is calming and peaceful surrounded by beautiful scenery, walking trails and beaches (With lots of seashells and crab legs). The sunrises remind you you're alive and the ocean reminds you to stay calm and connected.Should you decide to leave the home, there is plenty to do around within a short drive! Phil was such a wonderful host and made sure we had everything we needed. He provides guidance and suggestions for activities in the area based upon your own interests. We had a blast and designed a whole day based on his suggestions including some incredible hiking and a memorial as well as a visit to a lighthouse! The home is clean and comfortable. You can make an indoor or an outdoor fire. There are books and activities as well as a kitchen with dishes and basic cookware. There are comfortable outdoor chairs to enjoy the sunrises or just look at the ocean. The beds are very comfortable! There is well working heat in the home and you can always open the windows to get that lovely Ocean breeze.

wow!! thanks for taking the time to write such an in-depth review, Courtney. It was a pleasure to have you and your family here.
We absolutely loved our stay at the red roof. It was immaculate and the view was breathtaking. Phil was very kind and helpful. Would highly recommend this home to anyone
Superb position and very comfortable house. Lovely to just watch the changing sky and sea colours and the crystal clear night sky. Phil is a great host as well.
A perfect place to dump all of the noise and anxiety in your head and replace it with the sound of surf, the smell of salt in the air and a night sky filled with stars…haven’t seen the Milky Way that clearly in decades.
We had a much needed relaxing and peaceful stay. Views from the house were awesome, especially the sunrises. Great remote location. Communication with the owners was enjoyable,
We loved the view, everything we needed was available and more.
All our requests and concerns were answered immediately.
All 🛌 were clean and comfortable.
Beautiful location, inside is bright and modern, beds are comfy, has A/C but breeze off ocean was more than enough to keep cool at night, being able to lay in bed and listen to the ocean is a nice change. There was lots of birds out in the water and both nights there was a seal no too far from shore.
Beautiful secluded spot on the cove, amazing sunrises, great walking trails along the bay. Had a nice relaxing stay, and will hopefully be able to visit again.
The house and location are just incredible! The communication with the owners was great and we so enjoyed the property and location! Would highly recommend!
This hidden gem was exactly what we needed to wind down from our long Nova Scotia vacation. The rest and relaxation at The Red Roof was just perfect. We were able to meditate on the rocks, fall asleep to the crashing of the ocean waves, and live inside the silence of nature. What a beautiful way to unwind. Phil was a wonderful host welcoming us into his slice of heaven. Sleep with the windows open, watch the seals from the porch and dream. What a gift. I'd recommend it for folks wanting to really truly unwind.
We had such a great time here in 2021 on a work retreat that we came back in 2024. The cottage was great and secluded.
The small beach down the road is wonderful and the sunrises are unforgettable!
Born and raised in New Zealand. I joined the NZ navy. This ended up being the catalyst to my eventual move to Canada after meeting a local girl when I was 19. Many years on and a few careers later, we are now married, with 2 young kids. We like to relax and enjoy the ocean and island life. We are High-Performance Life Coaches, we love coffee, and live a healthy lifestyle.
Why they chose this property
When you get here, you will understand why we wanted to purchase this property. It's on an island; there are only 8 properties on the island connected by a bridge. It's peaceful. The ocean storms are spectacular, but on the flip side, the ocean is also so calm. It's raw. The perfect place to escape, but not so far away that you are totally disconnected.
What makes this property unique
Beautifully quiet. It's a hideaway only the locals know about. Great spots to walk. easy to hideaway, isolate, and lose yourself to the ocean and the trees.
