We left the property and rented rooms at a nearby Inn

  • 1 of 5

The house is dirty, dingy and not as described or pictured. Needs updated and serious TLC. Advertised laundry room is filled with garbage and rat traps left out, advertised wine cellar is unfinished and very dirty. All the bed linens are very old and dingy, rugs are dirty. There is a very bad odor in the entry way and master bedroom. The advertised balconies are sketchy and one was nailed shut.

I paid for this vacation as a gift to my children for their wedding anniversary present. Absolutely no way we could stay in this property, despite it being so conveniently located across the Britt. Expected more from such a lovely community

Lovely home and perfect spot for our bridal party

  • 5 of 5

We rented the Judge Hanna vacation home over Labor Day weekend for our daughter, ourselves, and her bridal party of five bridesmaids. The home was perfect for our needs: plenty of beds, extra bedding, towels, bathrooms, etc. The kitchen is well equipped. The home is beautiful.

We were able to make meals easily and eat family style. Laundry soap is available and halfway through the weekend we used the washer and dryer to wash used towels. The bathrooms have a variety of shampoos and soaps. We also used the large kitchen/dining area to cut and arrange the flowers for the wedding.

Two additional features we appreciated include the deck off the second floor bedroom and the family of deer living in the yard. My husband and I enjoyed morning coffee on the deck with a view of Jacksonville rooftops and the hills beyond Medford. The deer came and went without fear or concern. We all appreciated this beautiful old home.

Judge house

  • 1 of 5

Tiles in kitchen came off is yucky, didn't want to sit on anything other than wood chairs. There is a washing machine and dryer, so we washed all the sheets prior to use and through sheets on the couch. The home is old, somewhat clean as could be for age, but the rugs, carpet furniture so disgusting it ruin the experience. Good location and grounds. Tried calling the agent for information on charges, she never returned call. Office in town no manned.

Recently our family had a reunion in Jacksonville, OR. In the process we rented Judge Hanna's historic home. When we walked in it appeared great. It didn't take long to find numerous things that should have been addressed. The most obvious was the lack of good maintenance. The first thing I noticed was that certain lights would not come on. Some of these fixtures had multiple bulbs, all burned out. One room could not be used at night as the main bulb was not operable and there was nothing there tall enough so I could change it. In the process of looking for replacement bulbs I discovered black mold under the kitchen sink from a leaky drain. The laundry room was a total mess, junk piled in the corner, never been swept, and a dryer that vented into the room and not outside. The maintenance person did not know how to use a broom or vacuum evidenced by numerous dust bunnies and filthy living room carpet. The place has AC but it was set so the top rooms were around the outside temperature(100) while the master bedroom was 67 degrees. The roof tiles were so curled that the next rain could be a disaster. The ad says it is set up for 8 people but there were only 4 chairs on any floor. Nails were sticking up on the upper deck. That upper deck was slopping so bad we decided not to have the kids out on it. The master shower door would not latch just by closing. You had to be on the inside and play with it so it would stay closed. The lower shower drain screen was broken and pushed in so there was a 4 inch hole that you didn't want to step in. In the lower area there is a screen door that should be repaired or replaced. The bar-b-q is designed for briquettes, was filthy and had no tools to use. The manager, when called, came to inspect and told us she could not find a good maintenance person. On a lighter note the blackberry jungle in the back yard provided delicious berries but you had to avoid stepping in the neighbors dog poop. If I was to guess the owner and manager are greedy. While staying there I checked in with the local Chamber of Commerce and found there are many people in the area looking for work but they need to be paid a decent wage. This could be a really neat home with a lot of work .

Cute but dirty

  • 2 of 5

First the positive: great yard, cute house, close to everything.

Negatives: Attic bedrooms in the summer were unbearably hot. The basement kitchen was cool, main level was pleasant and upstairs was a sauna. The a/c did little but send a whisper of cool air upstairs. Ustairs we had to pull beds away from the vents to allow a little more airflow which just showed how dusty and gross the floors were. The door to one upstairs room didn't close.

Nail heads in the floorboards upstairs were popping up waiting for a tender foot.

Each bathroom had 2 towels & 2 wash cloths. The place sleeps 8 but only provided enough towels for 6 people. We could only find 2 dish towels. The kitchen sink had scum around the fixtures, the kitchen sponges were smelly. Sugar ants were crawling all over the window sill in the basement bathroom. The corners of the living room had dusty bunnies.

The laundry room had stuff heaped in the back, boxes stacked 4 deep and piles of dead leaves in the corner by the exterior door.

Very tired, not well kept, not worth the price

  • 1 of 5

We sadly planned poorly and had little options. We were originally delighted by finding this so-called "gem," but quickly realized this gem had tarnish and neglect as the centerpiece. Not worth it, wish I had my money back.
