Great Beach Views From This House.

If you are looking for a 3 bedroom house with a great beach, sea and landscape view, this is the one for you. Fantastic view of the beach and harbour is what most people comment on. We have free Wi-Fi and Sky TV with a selection of shows and films recorded. 2 bedrooms and bathroom upstairs, double bedroom en-suite downstairs adjoining living room and kitchen. You can go for a walk on the beach before breakfast, have a friendly chat with one of the locals then go to the shop for the paper and a chat with Peggy, the owner. You can see Hook Lighthouse from the house, go there after breakfast and take the tour, then walk through the fields along the cliffs to Slade Harbour, a walk not to be missed, the scenery is amazing. Go back along the road and have lunch in the restaurant at the visitor centre. In the afternoon visit Loftus Hall, a big house with a lot of history, take the tour, see the great stairway and hear the stories of ghosts and the devil. In the evening go to Hal's or Roches on the corner in Duncannon, taste fantastic fish landed that day on Duncannon Quay or beef and lamb that have been raised grass fed on local farms. The potatoes, vegetables and fruit will also be from the locality. If you would like to eat in a top class restaurant for a special night out, you have the choice of two within a mile of the village. Dunbroday House, home to celebrity chef, Kevin Dundon is very special as is the annual award winning Aldridge Lodge. Top class food from top class chefs always. An experience you won't forget. Next day you could travel to Tintern Abbey, just 5 mile away, take the tour of grounds and garden, go for a walk in one of the designated areas, get a meal or cup of coffee when you finish. Dunbrody Abbey is also worth a visit, great location near the river, a secret passage way is said to link it with the buildings where you park. A maze and crazy golf are also part of this attraction. Further on the road to New Ross is the JF Kennedy arboretum, a great playground and a walk to the viewing point are some of the highlights. Learn lots about the plants and trees planted here. Go on to the Kennedy Homestead a few miles away and then to the Famine Ship, the Dunbrody on the quayside in New Ross. See the Norman Tapestry and walk around the historic town. Next day go to Wexford, Johnstown Castle is very scenic and has a great museum, visit The Heritage Centre in Ferrycarrig, see the homes rebuilt from the stone age. if you fancy a bit of shopping go into Wexford town, it has a unique atmosphere, narrow streets and lots of local shops, not a place for the multi-nationals, some great shops with friendly staff and owners. If you fancy a bit of the hurdy gurdys take the ferry to Waterford and go to Tramore, a seaside town with all the traditional amusements we associate with a lively seaside town. If you have any money left go into Waterford and do some shopping, you will find all the big name stores here. Great place to shop. of course you will also have to visit the historic monuments and the world known Waterford Glass. All this is within 20 miles, if you want to go to Dublin or Cork they are only a 2 hour drive away. An easy trip on our great roads. You can easily take off in the morning, see the sights of our biggest cities and return in good time for a pint in Hal's and Irish music that night. If you like an active holiday, this is the place for you. Kitesurfing lessons available from Niall on the beach, he also does board sailing, both great fun. At Shielbaggin Outdoor Adventure Centre about 2 mile away they do canoeing, cliff climbing, surfing and lots of other activities. If you are into golf or fishing you have lots of choice. There are 10 course within an hour's drive. Nearest is Faithlegg, just 6 miles away across the ferry to Waterford. A fine testing 18 hole course, other ones I would recommend are The Castle, on it's own little island near Waterford City, Waterford, Tramore, New Ross and a fine links course in Rosslare. They all have open weeks each year and open days most weeks. Fishing is not bad on Duncannon Beach, you can generally catch a bass or flatfish. You can dig lugworm or buy from a local source. All the bays and harbours are fished, with a mixture of varieties caught. There is a boat for hire in the village, never met anyone disappointed with the trips out to Hook Head or Slade, generally catch more than you can handle. The cliffs from Slade Harbour to Hook are very popular in August and September are very popular for catching mackerel, if you don't fish it is a great place to buy a few fresh in from sea. Overall, Duncannon is a place where you have the choice to either park your car for the week and walk around the beach and village, eat out each night and just generally relax. Alternatively you could go to a different town or county each day, see the sights, experience the culture and be home for a relaxing night. Or you could have a very active holiday, kitesurfing, boardsailing, walking, fishing or golf are within easy reach. You will want to come back again and again.

Great time, chilled out week!

Stayed here with my husband, 3 kids and the dog, house was great, genuinely 2 minutes walk to beach, we could see beach from front windows of house, all facilities in the house great, we will definitely be back.

This property is in a quiet seaside village on the Hook Peninsula. The walk to the large beach is about two minutes and when you are not on the beach you can be watching it from the living room window. Very enjoyable relaxing place to stay.

We were there off season. It was very quiet. We enjoyed the location. The only thing I would recommend is if you plan on eating at the local restaurants make reservations ahead of time even for off season. Tony was very responsive to all my questions. Would recommend. We had a great time thank you!

Breathtaking Views!

Magnificent views right out the window. Had logs on the fire ready to light. Ample space. Just remember you pay extra for oil and electricity. There's no grocery store currently in the town, but a lovely place to dine called Wild Rose Cafe right around the corner. We did have a few minor issues but Mr. Wallace came right over and took care of them.

Wir hatten 10 schöne Tage bei Tony. Das Haus war sehr sauber, das Nötigste an Hygieneartikel für den ersten Tag war vorhanden. Die Einrichtung ist älter, aber sehr gemütlich. Die Küche ist vollständig eingerichtet, und der Blick aus dem Wohnzimmer einmalig schön. Der Kontakt zu Tony war herzlich und fehlende Dinge wurden sofort beschafft. Alles in allem: Daumen hoch und gerne wieder.

Eine unbeschreibliche Aussicht

Wir haben eine Woche in diesem wunderschönen Ferienhaus verbracht. Das liebevoll eingerichtete Haus hat einen unglaublich wunderschönen Blick auf das Meer. Zum Strand sind es gerade einmal zwei Minuten. Wir haben die vielfältigen Strände auf der Hook Penninsula erkundet und unserern Aufenthalt in vollen Zügen genossen. Es ist empfehlenswert ein Auto vor Ort zu haben. Wir werden gerne wiederkommen und können diese Ferienwohnung nur empfehlen. Einen Dank an Tony und Philip für die Hilfsbereitschaft.

Nice house with Friendly Owner

We had a beautiful visit at this house. The view was my very favorite thing. I loved being able to take a short walk to the beach as well as a couple of nice pubs/resuraunts.Tony was very helpful, made great suggestions for our stay. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying with Tony.

Disappointed.

There were numerous bulbs. out of order and the en-suite light casing was broken, meaning no light available. The property had a very uncomfortable bed and uncomfortable armchairs. The curtains in the bedroom were not hung properly. The kitchen door blind was broken. There were no dishwasher tablets. The dishwasher smelt and needed rinse aid and salt. Very disappointed for the price we paid. As an aside, Southern Ireland is not a dog friendly place. We were unable to take our dog into any pub so we could get a pint of Guinness :(.

Sorry you were disappointed with your stay, some of the issues are end of season ones, we intended to change the mattress at the end of this year and have ordered it for delivery next week. The door blind has already been replaced and not sure what was wrong with the curtain in the bedroom. I wish you had rang us about the bulbs and bathroom light as we only live 1 mile away and could have changed them for you in a few minutes. The same can be said for the dishwasher, we could have come over with any powders etc. The seats being uncomfortable is a new complaint for us, no-one has said that before but will ask in future and change them if it is a consistent issue. I know we should have checked all those things before you went in but I put it down to being at the end of a long season with few or no complaints and we were a bit complacent. The price was never complained of before, probably with the decline in sterling it cost a little more than it would have in previous years but in euros the price is very reasonable for a house with such a good sea view and so near the beach. Apologies for your disappointment, we will just have to try harder in future.

Lovely house in an idyllic location

We have just left Beach View following a weeks holiday. Thoroughly recommended, house is lovely with everything you need. The owners are such a lovely couple and nothing was a bother - it was really nice to meet you both and thank you for your hospitality. The location was amazing, excellent views and just 2 minutes onto the beach. Lots to do in the area too - think it would be beneficial to have a car. We have had a lovely time and cannot thank the owners enough. Look forward to the next time.

Cosy house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Superb location overlooking the sea and beach. Enough room for the 6 of us. Very friendly owners, any problems we just rang them. Electric and oil fired central heating extra, to be paid on leaving once meters have been read. 2 minute walk to local pub and seafood bar - Roches. Beautiful fresh food, particularly the fish. As we had a 2 year old with us the stairs would have benefited from a safety gate but I'm sure if we had mentioned this Tony the owner would have sorted it. Perhaps for future visitors. Also there is no barbecue at the moment. Would have been a bonus for us. However , a really enjoyable break for me and my family.

Hi Andrea, Thanks for your review, delighted you had a good holiday, we had a stair gate available in the attic, forgot to ask you if you wanted it. Never thought of a barbecue in the back as we rarely do one at home. I will get one next time we are out and have it available to anyone who wants it. Very homely!

Myself, my husband and 4 grown up children shared this house for a week and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house is very comfortable a real home from home feel to it and is fully equipted with everything you need. The view from the front is amazing. You can watch the kite surfing, boats, sunset etc from the armchair! The house is in a great location for visiting the sights and generally exploring the area. We walked on the beach everyday which is beautiful and the little village is very pretty. Tony and Cis, the owners are great hosts and are full of tips of where to go. We would love to return one day.

superb location, amazing views excellent house

We re a family of 5, just back from an 8 night stay in this house. It was a fab house every mod con you need, very spacious, but the location to the beach was super and the view was outstanding. We could not recommend this house enough and the owners could nt have been more helpful. nicky and donnacha.

Lovely clean holiday home which was well maintained and had great views

We had a great stay in this holiday home. Exactly as described- very comfortable and clean. Lovely village as well. The beach is great and two minutes from the house. We visited in February so didn't expect too much from the weather but it was a lovely stay all the same. We will return hopefully. Labhaoise Burrows

It was a pleasure to have Laobhaoise, her husband and daughter visit, such a pleasant little girl with a huge smile. The house was very clean and tidy after the visit and we hope they will return sometime in the future, they are very welcome at any time.

I have lived all my life in Duncannon, born and raised on a farm at the end of the beach. Married to Cis for 40 years now, we have 3 children, a girl and 2 boys, one looks after the sales and tourist business we started when we married. We have one grandchild. Our other son is a film producer and our daughter is a scientist doing research in San Diego at the moment.

Cis and I walk the beach each day at least once, we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place, can't imagine to live anywhere else. We both like to golf a couple of times a year. The local par 3 in Winningtown is great facility. We are members in New Ross Golf Club, a lovely course, friendly members give a great atmosphere to the clubhouse. You will always be made welcome there.

We bought this property for the unique view it has of the beach and harbour and it's proximity to the village and beach. We were also attracted to it as it is a corner house. People tell us how warm and comfortable the house feels. It is 2 minutes walk from the pubs, hotel and church.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

The house is very comfortable, it has an open fire and central heating. There are games and books supplied for your pleasure. Wi-fi is free and we have Sky TV.

The beach view is it's obvious main attraction, being in the village, near the pubs and restaurants is also what people like about it. Less obvious is the location of the village which is a great centre from which to tour the south-east. The ferry to Waterford is only 3 miles away, you can get to Wexford, Waterford and New Ross within 30 minutes without breaking the speed limit. If you want to go further, Dublin and Cork are within a 2 hour drive.

If you are an outdoor person, there are lots of activities such as fishing, golf, boating, bike hire and walking available.
