About this property

Mid Century Luxury 4 bedroom/3 bath/Pool/Spa/Fire-PitViews/Central Palm Springs

City ID#003491

No detail has been overlooked in this updated Mid Century classic. The home has been updated to include all the modern conveniences you'd expect in a luxury home while retaining its mid-century design and original esthetic. It sits on an extra-large corner lot, with a massive, privacy-walled, and hedged backyard with a new pool, spa, and fire pit. The vistas from the backyard are magical with full views of the San Jacinto Mountains in the distance. There are multiple sunning areas with umbrellas for shade and ample covered areas for dining al fresco.

Inside, you'll find 4 bedrooms: 2 master suites and 2 additional bedrooms with a full bath in the hall shared by the 2. The master suites bookend the house and have sliders to the backyard, pool, and spa. The 2 hall bedroom share a front walled and private patio with great views of the mountains. The large open living/dining/kitchen area provides ample space for relaxing in the sitting areas with dining for 8 and a full open kitchen. The entire open living area is flanked by a wall of glass overlooking the expansive pool and backyard on one side and a gas fireplace on the other side.

**There is a camera at the front door (doorbell) that monitors the front of the house and a camera pointed at the side gate (from inside the gate) and at the pool equipment. There are NO cameras in the pool area, the backyard, or any private areas.

**Please be advised that there is always risk involved with travel and you are advised to purchase travel insurance to mitigate your risk.

The pool can be heated for a fee that varies depending on the time of year. We will discuss this with you upon booking or can quote it for you ahead of time. Pool heat is usually needed from November – May of each year. Spa heat is always complimentary.

This is a no pets/no smoking rental.

AVOID THIS PROPERTY

There are lots of very nice houses to rent ion Palm Springs and surrounding areas. Please do not rent this house. It is decorated well, its very clean and well kept, however I noticed during my stay that every bedroom had its own locks, which could only be locked from there inside. This is a 4 bedroom house that I was staying in alone. The front door had a 4 digit number lock, that was assigned to you and would be reset after check out. At first in the house, I noticed lights being on, that I hadn't touched. I assumed it was remotely by wifi, so ignored it. Then I noticed noises from other parts of the house. I was frightened and ended up checking every room with a kitchen knife in my hand for safety. I felt like a crazy person. I became more and more unnerved by this house. There were rules for everything ; like not adjusting air con thermostat below 74, not touching. this or that. It was quite unpleasant and definitely hard too relax in. On the day I was leaving, check out was at 11am, I was packed and ready to go to the airport at 10am. I did a final sweep of the entire house just in case something was amis or I left anything behind. One of the bedroom doors was locked one the inside. I couldn't get into the bedroom., So somebody unknown to me was inside the house! This was total breach of trust, and I felt violated and upset by that. At the airport I asked the host by text message what what was going on. I was met with white a defensive response. I noticed he copied and pasted the text conversation, minus his part of the conversation into the VRBO email platform. DO NOT stay here. My safety and security was compromised.

Response from VrboOwner on Jun 25, 2022
It is with much sadness that we have to respond to this review. Peter checked into the home and seemed very pleasant at the time and at all times during and prior to his stay at the home. All seemed fine during his stay as we did not hear from him at all during the time he was at the house. The home has received nothing but 5-star reviews from previous guests on this platform, and has many other 5-star reviews (32 in fact on the platform that starts with Air) and other more popular booking platforms. It has not received a review less than 5 stars ever until now. It would be difficult for us to respond line for line to Peters review so we will just try to respond in an overall manner to his accusation that “somebody unknown to him” was inside the house on the day of his departure and locked him out of a bedroom. Our only response would be that we had nothing to do with this and would not know anything about this. We tried to explain to him that this could have very simple explanations, given that the doors in the home are equipped with privacy locks, which are very common in homes in the US, much like one might find on a bathroom door, or that of a primary bedroom, meant to keep children out or to provide privacy in a hall bathroom perhaps, and there was no ill intent for having them there. We do not enter any of our homes when guests are in them unless a guest has called us to a home. We are a management company and manage approximately 25 homes in Palm Springs and have never experienced an accusation quite like Peters. But our explanation to Peter that there was probably an innocent explanation for the door being locked, like perhaps he locked it himself without realizing it (the button on the inside could have easily been pushed), or the A/C from the vent in the room may have pushed it closed? Nonetheless, Peter was not happy with this and wanted us to begin an investigation of who may have entered the home that morning. We thought that this was not necessary, especially given that he was already gone and nothing had happened, other than he was possible spooked by it. But he expressed that he felt his “safety” had been put in jeopardy by this. When we got to the home after his departure, we opened the locked door with a screwdriver (a very easy process) and found nothing inside the room out of order. And no one appeared to have been inside. Point being, there would be nothing to investigate at this point. So we would have thanked Peter and moved on, gladly giving him a 5-star review as he left the home in great shape, very clean and was a great guest. Until that is, after his departure, and up to now when he has not been able to move on from a theory he has about thinking that there were people? inside the home during his stay that he says were not invited by him? We would have had no control over whether Peter allowed guests into the home while he was there, or whether he kept the doors locked while he was there. But he seems to think we are the ones that might have been in the house? We were not in the house, and we believe there wasn’t anyone in the house. It is an old home, the desert is a windy place and we think his imagination got the better of him. He rented a home where he was free to do as he saw fit, within reason. As I said above, we know nothing about anyone being in the home during his rental. We did not enter the home until after Peter departed. His departure time was officially 11 a.m. on May 25, 2022. Our logs showed we (management company) entered the house at 12:33 p.m. 5/25/2022. This entire event came as a huge surprise to us and we regret that it has digressed to this point. Future guests should take the reviews of all past guests into account when making decisions about where they want to stay. We can assure you that the home is lovely and safe. All exterior doors have working locks.

A Retrotastic Classy Chassis!

Fabulously restored mid mod period house, great furnishings and decor, amazing Sonos sound system for in the house (keeping in mind Palm Springs does not allow outdoor music), wonderful new pool, spa and back deck area with plenty of room for the whole family. The overall location is well located for anything on the Palm Springs end of the valley and the neighborhood is in good shape and near an old no longer used golf course where my son and I got a "few rounds on the links and sand traps" MTB style :-). Terry was our host as was simply fantastic to work with, help keep us informed and super responsive to any questions. The whole backyard feels very isolated and gives a great sense of peace and seclusion, combined with the well maintained house, great period furnishings, and Palm Springs location, you can get away with the crew and enjoy a wonderful mid mod fun getaway right in the middle of our crazy modern reality. That's the word from the bird daddy-o, make like the cool cats and get to this hip pad and you will be made in the shade!

Safe and sunny getaway

This house is wonderful and the hosts were so helpful. There were six adults (3 couples) and one young child and it was a perfect size, inside and outside. The house has everything you need for a week-long stay, especially during the pandemic.

Gorgeous Fun House!

The house was amazing and the decor was perfect for Palm Springs. We had a group of 7 adults to get away for my birthday weekend and be away from the crowds. The pool was great and the house was comfortable. We really enjoyed the indoor bluetooth surround sound system. The house was stocked with everything we could need or want and all directions and check in was easy and clear. Thank you to Terry for the quick and convenient communication. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!
