About Sally Kinane

Mostly we both grew up in the Midwest but after getting married, we moved to Guam so my husband could work for the Government of Guam. After that we moved back to the midwest and between the cold and my hay fever, we decide to join some of the family and move to California. As part of our adventure of moving, we decided to build a kit house and after a search of Northern California fell in love with Pine Mountain Lake.

We built the house from 1981 to 1984 at which time we moved from the Bay Area to the house with our 3 daughters. They attended school in Groveland. Most of the time my husband worked in the Bay Area and commuted to Groveland on weekends. After the children left for college, I moved back to the Bay Area to be with my husband full time and start a new career of Library Assistant.

We did not want to loose the house so since 1999, we have been renting it out for travelers. That still allowed us to come up and spend time in the house.

Sally Kinane purchased this house in 1984

Why Sally Kinane chose Groveland

We had ordered the kit house before we moved to California but had to find a lot within 2 years or our contract would expire. We explored many areas but most were too expensive or just didn't feel right. A friend of my husband's suggested looking into Pine Mountain Lake, so one weekend we went camping in Yosemite and on the way up we stopped in Sonora to check out the Pine Mountain Lake Subdivision. My husband who was a Civil Engineer and Planner wanted to check it out before we looked mainly to see if it was sewered. It was so we went to a realty company in Groveland and toured a few lots. We really fell in love with this lot. Fantastic location, green space on 2 sides and within walking distance of the beach. After our weekend in Yosemite we stopped back at the realtor and purchased the lot and never regretted it.

What makes this house unique

People enjoy visiting our house because it is so spacious and comfortable. They also like the convenience of the location. It is also a great place to use for trips to Yosemite and other attractions.

Our house is in a quiet area of Pine Mountain Lake. A ravine with a stream is across the street from the house and there is a large green space next to the lot that the association owns. Not only that but we could walk to a beach and Fisherman's Cove was even closer. The girls loved exploring the ravine and green area. As years went by, a tennis court was built across the ravine and a half basketball court and play ground was kitty corner to our house. The deer always come and visit our property and when we lived there they always would know when my roses would bloom and get the blossoms before I could see them.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Sally,

What a wonderful cabin you and your family have. We loved the coziness about it the best. This was my sister's first experience in a cabin and she loved it. We had a very short stay but memories for a lifetime. Our daughter was most excited. All the board games, DVD's. We watched Tom Sawyer and that was such a lovely family moment for us. Though we couldn't spend more time here as we were at Yosemite. We hope we will be able to visit again.

Thank you so much!

Wonderful weekend in November.

  • 5 of 5

We loved Pine Mountain Lake. The home was all that we needed and Sally was wonderfully flexible and responsive. Our toddler loved the deer outside and the nearby playground and cove. We made a quick trip to Yosemite and had a blast. Great place!

Great experience

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in the Kinane cabin. The rental is well stocked and was very relaxing for us. Thank you for making this a wonderful experience. We did though saw our prior renters trash still in the trash bin. Hope our trash will be collected coming Wednesday.

Nice and quiet stay

  • 5 of 5

Overall everything was very nice for our stay. This was the perfect location for stargazing and not too far from Yosemite. The only minor issue was that the Wi-Fi didn't work during our stay but Sally very responsive when we contacted her.

We had a great time in recent stay. Theplace provided everything from kitchen soap disk to tour dvd's. We love the place and enjoyed it so much accept we lost the the WiFi on the second night for no reason so we played cards instead of karaoke.
