Guestbook comments from the owner

“A group of us from fast paced careers in the city needed some R&R in the woods. We searched specifically for something with a hot tub and found the fantastic location! Russell was very available for questions as a host and provided all necessary details for our stay. The grounds are quite private without being extremely remote - there are shops and stores within 20 minutes. Very spacious cabin with indoor fire-place and full kitchen. A beautiful wooden bar/table sits in the living area to accommodate large dinners and board games. A really stellar spot and an A+ all around. Will definitely add to our go-to list for future get-aways!”

Nice place!

  • 4 of 5

Had just enough room to fit everyone in there own room. It rained the whole time we were there but still managed to make a fire and enjoy the hot tub.

What an AWESOME weekend

  • 5 of 5

Thus little cabin is a great, down to earth place to get together with friends. 10 of us stayed the weekend. Close to wineries, 7 springs and a bunch of other neat places, but still away from the hustle and bustle of Pittsburgh. I recommend it.

2017 Mini Ski Trip Get Away

  • 3 of 5

The location of the Mountain View Home was ideal to access both Seven Springs Ski Resort as well as Hidden Valley Ski Resort. We had 2 families staying for 4 nights for a mini winter ski vacation with our families.

The directions to the home were very good. The ease of arrival/key access was exceptional.

Upon arrival, I honestly was a little disappointed in the upkeep of some of the furniture (i.e., the bar stools were unstable and one was actually falling apart). The home was warmed by base board electrical heat; which created a very dry atmosphere thereby causing some sinus conditions by the time we left. There were several light bulbs out. (bedroom downstairs and bathroom). The two games shown in the pictures didn't work (or at least we couldn't get them to function.) We initially could not get the TV to function, but we reached out to the owner, who responded and we were able to get the local channels - no cable available. But, the biggest issue for us was that we had 7 people staying in the home and there is only one shower(located off in the den /great room area). Granted, I take responsibility for not paying closer attention when booking. But, I would definitely suggest anyone looking at the home take that into consideration - it can create challenges. The kitchen is small, there is no dish washer. It's workable, but when cooking for the larger crowd, it can create a challenge keeping dishes clean.

Overall, we had a very nice vacation! The owners were attentive. We had a snow shovel available for use which was very handy as we were lucky enough to have approximately 18 inches of fresh snow during our visit!

Great place to stay for a winter getaway!

  • 4 of 5

We had a nice time at this little cabin. It had everything we needed to enjoy our time at the slopes this winter. Everyone had a comfortable bed to sleep in, the table/bar was large enough for our group, the hot tub was easily accessible, and there was parking at the bottom of the driveway which was a plus since we couldn't make it up the hill due to the snow. Overall, a good place to stay.

Depends on what is important to you. Just okay.

Plenty of space for sleeping with five bedrooms. However, we rented the place for Thanksgiving and the kitchen is tiny, the oven had only one rack, all utensils, pans, and dishes though washed, were not clean, and the refrigerator was missing shelves and drawers. Food prep and storage was difficult. Lots of great firewood but no way we could find to clean massive pile up of ashes from previous renters. Vacuum and broom provided, we had to sweep when we arrived and when we left. Floors need to be cleaned with steam mop or wiped they were dirty. Fortunately ,we found a scarf ( not ours) melted into one of the base board heating units before a fire started. Lots of parking and nice big table/bar for our dinner. We were grateful that the owner did allow us to rent for just two days.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of MountainView. You guys were great guests. Great communication before and after stay. First, let me thank you for finding that scarf. Glad you found it before it could of escalated. Yes the kitchen is a bit small. We have had our own Thanksgiving a few years a go so we know it can be a bit tight. But having it up the mountains and on that huge tree top table made it all worth it. We are looking to replace the flooring on the main level as we do not ask guest to take off shoes so it got some wear and tear. Water and snow damaged the floor boards resulting in fragments coming off which gives the appearance of dirt. Sorry about no shovel for fireplace ashes. It literally just broke a day before your arrival. We now have it replaced. Thanks again for your review as we just made lots of upgrades to this cabin, with new beds dressers, and a couch. We have a new 50" television being installed this weekend....So out with the big screen! wahoo
