About the property

The best base camp in the heart of the of Mount Hood. Our home is the most family-friendly option in Government Camp and probably the cleanest too. Enjoy our home just steps from the clubhouse, pool and spa/hot tubs.

Read the reviews and you'll see that this is one of the nicest, chalets in Collins Lake Resort. Lightly rented, carefully cared for, always. We rent to families only. As a result we get about half the wear and tear of the other homes in the resort

Expanded video library! We just bought a dozen new movies for both kids and parents, bringing the grand total movie library well over 100. With 3 places to watch movies in the Chalet, everyone can find a movie and a place to enjoy them.

We try to be the most kid friendly place on the mountain...while making sure the adults in your group will love it too. Our home is full of fun for families both inside and outside with the heated pool, soaking pool, hot tub and sauna just 50 feet from our front door. This is the place to relax and enjoy the mountain and all it offers no matter what adventure, or simple relaxation you seek.

Email us for a link to our photo album with 50 pictures!

What to do first? Stroll through Government Camp, walk to the pool, hit the slopes, or simply relax in the sauna. Or perhaps just cook up a great dinner in the cozy and fully-stocked kitchen. Play a board game, play some darts....or just enjoy the fireplace and a movie or magazine.

Everything you need is within walking distance. This is our 'Home Away From Home:' you will find spices in the cupboard for cooking up your family meals, an entire bookshelf of kids books, movies to cozy up and watch with hot popcorn, and toys and books for the kids.

Email us for our video link and many many more pictures.. We hope you join the group of families who come back season after season to our home on Mount Hood, making it their home on the mountain as well!

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

This is a very nice unit in Collins Lake Resort. Some units are hit and miss, but this one is solid. Well stocked, very clean and comfortable. This is our 2nd time at this place and we will definitely come back again.

Wonderful spot to enjoy a snow storm

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommend this gem in Government Camp. It was perfect for our trip with extended family, which included two family groups: one with two girls, 1 & 5, and another with a 2 year old. They have pretty much everything you need to enjoy a great weekend. The shuttle (or short walk) to Skibowl or Timberline was great and let us leave the cars parked for much of the trip (nice in the feet of snow we had). Having walking distance to Skibowl also allowed the downhill skiers in the group to easily trade off morning an afternoon runs/parenting duty. The pool and hot tub are a must -- recommend bringing warm robes and slippers with waterproof soles for making the dash to and from the clubhouse in comfort.

Our trip included a fantastic multi day snowstorm that dumped feet of fluffy powder, which was just what we were hoping for. If you have littles, I would recommend bringing some baby gates to block off the (2) sets of very steep stairs. Or, this might be a nice amenity for the hosts to consider having on site.

Warm and Welcoming Winter Stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. The house was warm and welcoming. It had everything you could possibly need, including tons of kids toys and dvds. The house was clean and decorated with rustic skiing motif. It was a great location and walking distance to the restaurants and shops. We will definitely stay here again

Great family friendly condo. Walkable to town, pool, and sledding.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time, sharing the condo with one other family. Lots of kid movies, games, and winter activities! The owners kindly allowed us to stay late on our check out day.

Super fun weekend of skiing and good friends!

Awesome family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this vacation getaway. We were so pleased with the amenities and the close location to snow activities, restaurants, the pool/hot tub. We hope to come back sometime as i don't think we've stayed at a more kid friendly location. There was a hill for the kids to sled on as soon as we got there! And the owners were very responsive to any questions we had. Doesn't get better than this.

Portland, OR

Excellent all around!

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommend this property for a great ski weekend. I, my 16 year old twins and their friends had a great time skiing Timberline and night skiing Ski Bowl without having to make the drive back to Portland. The Chalet has everything you need and is very well furnished with modern appliances. The heated outdoor pool, soaking pool, Jacuzzi and sauna are just steps away. Host Brent was wonderful and made sure we had all the info we need to operate heat, garage, fireplace, activities center access, etc. Would definitely come back if staying at Collins Lake again.
