About Janet Trogdon

We are a young family who lives in Ancaster and loves coming to Niagara-on-the-lake. We love coming all times of the year as it is so beautiful at Cabernet House in any weather. Our children love coming and running around the backyard. While we sit on the deck and bbq/grill us something to eat.

We love walking to the park or just walking down Queen Street looking in the store windows.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We really enjoyed our stay here at Cabernet House. Weather really helped us enjoy the beautiful yard and use of the BBQ. House was very clean upon arrival, beds comfy and nice to have a bed on the main level to accommodate our mom!

Perfect for our weekend in Canada!

  • 5 of 5

Cabernet House was perfect spot for our family weekend in Niagara-on-the-lake. The house is very clean, well equipped, and quite comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised that the rooms were all larger than they appear in photos. Our party of 8 had plenty of space in which to hang out. Although, we didn't stay in too much as the town is so lovely with so much to do! I especially appreciated the conveneience of allowing our two night stay (but wish I could have stayed longer!).

This property is a great rental value, given the easy access to shops, restaurants, parks and bike trails, in addition to just being a nice, well-kept property. I also loved that this house came stocked with so many basics like toilet paper and dishwasher detergent - that saved us a trip to the local grocery store (as we ate dinner out for every meal). I would definitely recommend this rental to my friends and family!

*one small warning - be careful of the varying floor levels downstairs. I tripped once or twice in the doorway to the kitchen/back bedroom area, but eventually we all got accustomed to it and didn't have any problems. Older/renovated houses are just like that sometimes (it's kind of charming I think).

A Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

5 of us stayed 3 days for the end of the wine festival.... the house was very close to downtown Niagara-On-The-Lake and also close to many wineries in the region. It brought back some memories of staying in the neighbourhood with with relatives as a preteen. All in all it was a great time!!!!!

Wonderful Home away from home!!!

  • 5 of 5

We all had a wonderful time here. All the comforts of home. Close enough to walk down to main streets or take in the Shaw Festival, if you are up for a stroll. Nice neighborhood and quiet residential area. Would definitely stay here again.

Going back again and again

  • 5 of 5

2013 will be the third summer that we have spent a week at Cabernet House. My family gets together in Niagara on the Lake for one week every summer, because we are all theatre lovers and we love the town itself. We've been to NOTL every year since 2002, renting a house each time. We have enjoyed Cabernet House for its location, roominess, facilities, and decor, and have appreciated the upgrades in decor and amenities. In 2012, the family ranged in age from almost 2 to almost 70, and we each had comfortable accommodations. The people who manage the house are very helpful and accommodating, and appreciate our suggestions.
