About Sally L Godard

Your hosts are Ron and Sally. We've raised our three children here since 1988, and they're now all young adults.

We're not yet retired, but able to do some of our work from home. We're friendly, casual introverts. It has been great to meet a wonderful variety of people from all over the country.

Why Sally L Godard chose McMinnville

Sally is a native Oregonian. She lived in Portland during her young adulthood, and hoped to raise the children in a more rural area.

McMinnville (pop. 33,000) has been perfect. And the countryside is beautiful!

One of our friends dubbed our place Low Heaven Farm. It stuck -- and we have to agree that it IS 'heaven on earth.' Three large black walnut trees frame the house, and we added evergreen trees to bring some winter color.

What makes this apartment unique

We love our country living, while still being close to town. Have a busy day, then return to relax.

Sally continues to expand the orchard -- it now has 34 varieties of apples, 8 plums, 5 pears, 4 cherries. Ron relishes his time on the tractor, and he just added 24 solar panels so the apartment's electricity needs are now supplied by solar energy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for another great stay! Enjoyed the garden and tree house. We didn't bring the sun with us this trip, but enjoyed the sun breaks. Will re-schedule our cancelled fishing trip and return to your paradise soon.

The place was super clean and had all the comforts of home. Great property and views.

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to the property. It is so beautiful that we may come back next year. Ron and Sally provided our choice for breakfast fixins each morning. Super comfortable and could have hung out all day checking out the animals, fruit trees and of course the tree house, but there are too many wineries to see in the area. Definitely a 5 star rating plus a few bonus stars.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the kind words. It was great to host the two of you, and we're glad you had a nice time. Maybe on your next visit we'll get to see more of you! Sorry for that leaf blower noise one morning -- the hazards of an October visit. ;-( Enjoy your holidays!

Farm style retreat in the heart of Oregon wine country.

  • 5 of 5

First, Sally and Ron might be the nicest people in the valley. It all starts with Sally's checklist of how you would like your breakfasts to be stocked. Do you like certain cereal, do you like yogurt etc?

The apartment is set up comfortably. It's a one bedroom. The combination living room and kitchen is large. Our son stayed with us for a few nights. He slept on the very comfortable sofa bed.

The location is ten minutes from central McMinnville. In ten minutes, you get out of town and into the middle of farm country. There is a farm down the road with a farm stand selling fresh fruit and vegetables straight from the fields.

The location is about 25 minutes from the main wine tasting area of Dundee. But there is also plenty of wine tasting in McMinnville. If you like good food, there are literally dozens of places within a 25 minute drive.

All in all, it's a very clean, well appointed retreat. You will be able to see all the Willamette Valley wine country, then return to a very serene place for your own down time.

We have stayed here twice. Our son, who lives in Portland, has also stayed here. We will definitely be coming back.

Comfortable, warm and inviting.......

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were amazed when we walked in! It has a huge kitchen and comfortable furnishings in the living room and dining area. The bedroom was good size and the bed was comfortable. Apparently the owner's father was a woodworker and there were built in bookcases, gorgeous wood trim and solid wood cabinets. You have your own driveway to park in, the decks and furniture to enjoy the outdoors, and bird feeders just outside the windows to watch the birds (as well as a guide to local birds!). We also enjoyed the goats and alpacas that were located at the back of the backyard. Fresh flowers and a bottle of wine welcomed us (as well as breakfast foods that Sally had asked about before our arrival). All of this made us feel right at home immediately. We didn't see Ron and Sally until the morning that we were leaving but it was nice to know they were close in case we had any questions about the accommodations or area. It is centrally located in the Williamette Valley and we went to wineries every day. We highly recommend this property and hope to go back!!
