Welcome to The Bear’s Den — a winter-ready, pet-friendly Vermont retreat designed for families who want to be together without feeling crowded. Cozy up by the fireplace, enjoy an open living space with games and gathering areas, and be just minutes from Mount Snow.

Set on nearly 4 peaceful acres, this 1,800-square-foot home offers space to spread out, thoughtful storage, and practical amenities that make winter travel with kids (and dogs) easier. Guests consistently share how comfortable the home feels, how naturally everyone gathers in the main living space, and how easy it is to settle in for ski weekends and family time.

The Bear’s Den is one full side of a duplex, with a seasonal renter of a family of 4 in the neighboring unit.

The home was so beautiful and fit 4 couples comfortably! The entertaining area was exactly what we wanted and we were never bored! Very fun place to be in with friends

Very nice place, the kids and us loved the pool table, ping pong table and the darts, and the eggs from their chicken were very appreciated!. The beds were also really comfortable and extraordinary wide for the bunked beds so everyone enjoyed their stay to the fullest. Mount Snow is just 20’ away and we had wonderful ski time. Highly recommended, we’ll come back.

Perfect weekend getaway

We really enjoyed staying here. Clean and comfortable with a nice layout and location. Perfect amount of bedrooms for a family of 5 with teens. The common space including the open kitchen is great for family time - billiards, ping pong, games, puzzles and meals. We found the area to be beautiful for hikes and exploring the town. It would also be perfect during ski season. As springtime visitors, it was nice to hike a section of the nearby Appalachian Trail.

New England Warmth

We went Presidents week to ski at Mount Snow for a few days. Kate and Matt have a wonderful house and are attentive but respective of your privacy. The house has been recently renovated with a new kitchen, appliances, floors, furniture etc. Everything was in excellent condition and we had a great stay. Cozy, family friendly Vermont home. Winner!

Labor day weekend stay

My friends and I enjoyed our time here! We had 13 people in our group. We spent a good chunk of our time in the main living room area upstairs playing ping pong and watching TV! Note: the outdoor space/trash/recycling is shared with another property. Most of the bedrooms are downstairs and while we weren't sure if we'd have enough space at first, the owners have really cleverly optimized the space in the property. The location is great too! Overall a good time :)

Last mins great weekend getaway.

My family plan very last mins weekend getaway. I was looking for bigger place to accommodate everyone comfortably. “The Bear’s Den” was exactly what we needed and expected. We really enjoyed our stay here. The place is accommodating, clean and comfortable with a nice layout. Perfect number of bedrooms for 3 families with teens, and a toddler. Free fresh eggs from their chickens and ducks are a bonus, plus, the kids had fun feeding and playing with them. Owners are next door they are friendly and hospitable. The owners are very responsive to our reservation. Defiantly will stay again. Thank you!

Stayed with my family of 5 and two other families. The place was clean, well equipped in the kitchen, perfect for people that want to cook & eat in. Very cozy. The kids loved the place, they kept busy with the pool table, dart board, ping pong table, and pac man video game between ski trips. Bedroom capacity was fantastic, proximity to supermarket very convenient, and proximity to Mt. Snow manageable (20min). Would love to stay there again. Only negative is loud heat during quiet hours, clicking & dripping sounds. Bring extra towels if in a large group. Property owner responsive and provided thoughtful additions for a pleasant stay ❤️

Great Property for Family Ski Trip

What a great find. The property is tucked away a few minutes from town and about 20 minutes from Mt. Snow. There was snow cover, so we did not use much outside but it would be a nice spot for kids to run around and parents to hang out. The house is a duplex with bathrooms on both floors three bunk beds and a nice living/kitchen area. The property was well cleaned and there were enough dishes and drinkware for 8 people. The pool/ping pong table was a huge hit with the kids (and parents). The owners were great at communicating before the stay and after when we had to leave early to get ahead of a major storm. We would definitely recommend and, if we are planning to be in the area, would definitely rent again.

Perfect group getaway spot

My friends and I needed a place to stay for a guys weekend and this was the perfect spot. Cozy great space for families

A groups of friends and families (5 adults 9 kids) spent the long weekend here and it was the perfect space. It was cold and rainy and we spent a lot of it indoors. We enjoyed the layout where most of the bedroom space was downstairs and living space upstairs. The ping pong table yielded hours of delight for all ages. The couch was cozy and fit us all. And when we got some outside time between the raindrops the outdoor play set was great! We even managed a fire and s’mores outside. Kate was responsive when we had questions. Family getaway

This house was perfect for our big family. We have kids ranging from 4-22 and this home has something for everyone. The playground was perfect for the younger ones, ping pong and pool for the older ones, and we all enjoyed campfires under the stars in this very quiet spot. There were stores close by and it’s centrally located to a lot of hiking, swimming and sightseeing. Just a great spot and Kate is very responsive and great to deal with. Definitely would love to stay here again in the future.

Pictures don’t do it justice

The house was perfect for our weekend trip. Bedrooms had big enough beds to accommodate grown men. The upstairs living space plenty of room to accommodate video games and a game of pool, plus hanging out and chatting. The fridge has plenty of space and there’s a Shaw’s grocery store up the road, which was very convenient. Overall was an excellent trip and a big part of that was thanks to this rental property!

Our family and friends really appreciated our time at this property. The layout of the house was perfect for our group of adults and kids to relax, eat and play games together. Some of the features we enjoyed the most were the wide variety of activities that were available for amusement like the dartboard, pool table and board games, the well-stocked kitchen, the ample space for coats and boots, the two full baths and the extremely comfortable huge couch in the living room. Kate was a splendid hostess and was extremely accessible and flexible before and during our visit. We highly recommend this property for a skication or any VT outing.

Perfect Cozy VT Getaway!

Perfect house for a group of friends or family! The house is so cozy & cute, has great size bedrooms, and an awesome living room/kitchen layout upstairs. Had a group of 9 people and we had plenty of room for hanging out and sleeping arrangements. House was very clean as well, and had everything you could need; blankets, sheets, towels, toiletries, cookware, silverware, etc. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

Originally from Long Island, NY, my husband and I have been visiting the Mount Snow area since we were teenagers and always dreamed of one day owning a home in the Green Mountain State. We fell in love with Wilmington for its quaint village feel, proximity to Mount Snow, and access to the Harriman Reservoir.

During the pandemic, we made the leap—selling our home on Long Island and purchasing a duplex in Wilmington. We thoughtfully renovated and decorated both units, giving each its own character while focusing on comfort, quality, and functionality for family stays.

Now empty nesters with two kids in college, we spend time both in Vermont and away during the winter season. While we are not on-site full time, the home is well cared for and professionally supported locally, and we remain readily available to ensure guests have a comfortable, seamless stay.

Why they chose this property

Wilmington is one of the most charming villages in Southern Vermont, with a strong sense of community and a calendar full of events that draw visitors from near and far. From the Blueberry Festival and Sip & Stroll to Fourth of July celebrations, there’s always something happening. Nearby West Dover adds even more energy with seasonal music festivals, food trucks, and outdoor gatherings.

Our family has always been drawn to places that offer easy access to the outdoors, and Wilmington checked every box. With Mount Snow, lakes, hiking trails, and scenic drives close by, it’s an ideal base for skiing, boating, and exploring year-round. We also love good food — whether cooking at home or enjoying the area’s excellent local restaurants — which makes this location especially enjoyable for families and groups who appreciate both adventure and comfort.

What makes our property unique is the space. Set on nearly four acres, the home offers a rare, park-like setting with areas reserved for guest use—something that’s hard to find so close to Mount Snow. In warmer months, families enjoy the open outdoor space, picnic area, and fire pit, while in winter the setting provides a quiet, uncrowded feel that guests really appreciate.

The location is another standout. Being south of Mount Snow makes for an easier drive for guests coming from New England or the Tri-State area, while still keeping you just minutes from skiing, the village of Wilmington, and the region’s lakes, trails, and restaurants.
