About Robin & Pierre
We first fell in love with our beach house on Baynes Sound in 2006 and, over the course of two years, transformed it into the elegant oceanfront vacation home of our dreams. We met in Montreal in 2003. Robin was from West Vancouver, a marketing director for Clinique with a background in art and interior design. She designed home interiors and restaurants on the mainland. Pierre, originally trained as a professional carpenter, was a fixture in Montreal’s film industry for his expertise in special effects. We were married in Vancouver in 2004 and moved to Union Bay shortly after. Robin had travelled extensively during her 20 years with Clinique, and the time she spent staying in top hotels has informed her design expertise. Pierre’s skill and eye for detail was honed over many years of building things that needed to be just so. Together, we have a penchant for creating spaces that are both beautiful and functional. Most of the materials used in the beach house’s renovation were refurbished and reused, such as the gorgeous floor boards, salvaged from the walls of an old barn on the Island and refinished to a honeyed gleam by Pierre. Patio bricks are recycled from a house in Courtenay torn down by Habitat for Humanity. The result is not only environmentally conscious, but gives the beach house an elegant old world charm, while offering all the modern conveniences. We invite you to come and enjoy our beach house paradise. We know that you will love it as much as we - and all of our guests - do.

Why Robin & Pierre chose Union Bay
We chose the charming hamlet of historic Union Bay for our Bayside Beach House because it is so convenient to urban amenities in nearby Courtenay/Comox, and we were drawn to the artisan community in the Comox Valley, which was designated one of seven Cultural Capitals of Canada in 2007.
What makes this House unique
We pride ourselves on having thought of everything a vacationer could possibly want, from the most comfortable linens, beds and couches, a large TV with Netflix and full sound system, to a fully equipped kitchen and large harvest dining table. These are the things we enjoy when we stay at our property, just the two of us or with friends and family. We also love outdoor space you can use to the fullest no matter what the weather’s like, which is why we put in the expansive brick patio with its barbeque, built a cabana complete with hot tub, outdoor shower, and chandelier, and created two beach bonfire pits and put a brick barbeque down on the beach as well. There’s also a little herb garden for cooks to use. No wonder our guests find the Bayside Beach House as irresistible as we do.

Amazing House, Great Location
Loved our Stay in Union Bay even though it rained. Robin was always quick to respond to any questions. The house is lovely and exactly as pictured. We only regretted staying at this place at the beginning of our trip as it was by far the nicest we have stayed in. Would definitely recommend to others and would return.
This is a cottage type vacation home. I am very fussy with cleanliness, but this place is spotless, I would love to hire whoever the cleaner was for this home.
The property is absolutely well provided for, from kitchen utensils to waterproof boots, slippers, beach toys, binocular to towels, bed sheets etc. We stayed four nights and wish we stayed longer. The sunset and dawn was so beautiful, it was a constant reminder of the Almighty God!
We spent time in the conservatory just to watch the view, my daughters also did some painting. There is a hot tub with outdoor shower/ changing area. Unlike most vacation homes, the BBQ was quite clean and did not require further scrubbing to be used. There was darts and dart board, we had parents vs children team competition! The Comox Kayak delivered two tandem kayaks for us and we went out during the evening when the tide came in - two porpoise swim around our kayak four rounds - awesome!
My daughters were so impressed with the tea set she set up little tea party outside with cookies, sandwiches, cheese, scones and tea.
We meant to visit Comox but the cottage has so much things to do we really only went out once for an hour to buy grocery.
Definitely hope to return although it is a twelve hours drive from home....
Unique Waterfront Cottage in a Friendly Little Town!
We spent a wonderful eight nights in this adorable home. The vrbo pictures do not do it justice. We saw amazingly beautiful sunrises right from our comfy king sized bed every morning. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed sun on the decks all day long. In the evening, we enjoyed the private hot tub. The house was stocked with everything we needed. I wish we would have brought our kayaks because this would have been the perfect place to explore by water. Robin and Pierre have done a tremendous job restoring and decorating their cottage. We recommend hiking the boardwalk and beyond at Mount Washington. Also, exploring and hiking at Seal Bay Nature Preserve. We also had a fantastic day fishing with captain Steve at Island Pursuit Sport Fishing in Comox. Vancouver Island is a beautiful place to visit!
Thank you for your kind words, Kim, and for being Excellent Guests!
Next time, kayaks can be rented from Comox Valley Kayaks. They deliver to Bayside and pick-up :) Many of our Guests have been pleased with their service.

My family had a lovely time at the beach house. They described the house and gardens as charming and with absolutely everything they needed. They really enjoyed their stay. I appreciated how easy it was to communicate with the hosts ahead of time and how accommodating they are. A pleasure all round and definitely a place we would remember for a future holiday.
Thank you. Your family were excellent Guests and are welcome at Bayside anytime! Hopefully, you can join them next time :)

A piece of paradise
We had a great time at this small piece of paradise.
This is a very unique but beautifully decorated beach house. We enjoyed our two days there. We highly recommend it if you are planning on seeing Comox Valley, Campbell River (whale watching) or even Victoria. Very clean place.
Mount Washington Alpine Resort is only 1/2 hour away, the renowned Kingfisher Spa is 5 minutes down the road, and the spectacular Crown Isle Golf Course is just 20 minutes away.
